Fix Error codes 12002-4, 12007-4, 12152-4

If you are trying to install Office but got an error saying, “Something went wrong, Sorry we ran into a problem” with error codes 12002-4, 12007-4, or 12152-4 instead, this indicates that you have a problem with your internet connection. Aside from internet connection issues, the problem could also be due to some programs that block the installation files to be downloaded so when they time out, you get these error codes.

There are several options you can try to fix the 12002-4, 12007-4, or 12152-4 error codes. You can try to install Office offline or turn off the proxy server or VPN (if you’re using one). You can also try to temporarily disable your antivirus program or Firewall. Refer to the given potential fixes below to troubleshoot and fix the problem.

Option 1 – Try to install Office offline

The first thing you can do if you encounter the error codes 12002-4, 12007-4, or 12152-4 when installing Office is to download an offline copy of Office especially when you’re certain that your internet connection is slow. Once you’ve downloaded it, install it again. The offline installer will download both the 32 and 64-bit versions of Office. Keep in mind that you must download the correct version.

Option 2 – Disable the Proxy server

The first thing you can do is to try disabling the Proxy server as it might be the reason why you’re getting error 0x80244022 for Windows Updates. To disable the proxy server, refer to the steps below.

  • Tap the Win + R keys to open the Run dialog box.
  • Then type “inetcpl.cpl” in the field and hit Enter to pull up the Internet Properties.
  • After that, go to the Connections tab and select the LAN settings.
  • From there. Uncheck the “Use a Proxy Server” option for your LAN and then make sure that the “Automatically detect settings” option is checked.
  • Now click the OK and the Apply buttons.
  • Restart your PC.

Note: If you are using a third-party proxy service, you have to disable it. In addition, if you are also using a VPN, you can try to disable it as well.

Option 3 – Temporarily disable the Antivirus and Firewall

As mentioned earlier, the downloading of the installation files could be blocked by either the antivirus program or Firewall or it could be both especially when the link seems suspicious. To fix this problem, you have to disable both the antivirus like Windows Defender and the Firewall or any third-party software you might be used temporarily and then download the installation files again. Once the download is completed, make sure to turn on the antivirus program and the Firewall again. On the other hand, you can also try downloading in a different location which also means that you have to try a different network. It could be that the load on the current system is too high which is why it’s not able to offer enough bandwidth to download the installation files of Microsoft Office.

0x8019019a when setting up Yahoo Mail
The error code 0X8019019A is shown when a user fails to add his Yahoo account to the Mail app due to the outdated or corrupt installation of the Mail app. Not using an App-specific but a normal Yahoo account password may also result in the error at hand. In this guide, we will show you how to effectively fix this error so you can set up Yahoo mail.
  1. Reboot PC

Perform a restart of your system to rule out a temporary glitch in the system. Also, check if you can successfully access your email through a web browser using the same credentials as you are using with the Mail app. Additionally, make sure that no VPN or proxy server is being used to access the internet (VPN/proxy may work fine with the web version of Yahoo mail but may hinder the access through a mail client).
  2. Update Windows and the Mail App to the Latest Build

If your system is not updated to the latest build it can create incompatibility between the OS modules. Updating the Windows and Mail app of your system to the latest build may solve the problem.
  3. Re-add the Yahoo Account to the Mail App

The Yahoo account issue could be a result of a temporary glitch in the communication modules of the system. The glitch may get cleared if you remove and then re-add the Yahoo account to the Mail app.
  4. Reset the Mail App to the Defaults

You may fail to add the Yahoo account to the Mail app if the installation of Mail itself is corrupt. In this scenario, resetting the Mail app to the defaults may solve the problem.
  5. Generate an App Password and Use it to Add the Yahoo Account to the Mail App

Yahoo has implemented tons of security features to its accounts. One such feature is the use of app-specific passwords for less secure apps like the Mail app. If your Yahoo username or password is not working with the Mail app, then using the App-specific password may solve the problem.

Motitags Browser Hijacker Removal Guide

The Motitags toolbar browser add-on was created by Mindspark Inc. and is compatible with Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox. It claims to enhance users’ Internet browsing experience by enabling smileys within popular email clients such as Gmail, Yahoo!, AOL, and Outlook Live. While such added functionality may seem useful, Internet users should be aware that this browser plugin is categorized as a Browser Hijacker due to its behavior.

When installed this extension changes your default search engine, the home page, and new tab to MyWay.com, and while installed it gathers user browsing data and sends it back to Mindspark servers. This data is later used to inject additional unwanted ads into the user’s browser search results.

About Browser Hijackers

Browser hijacking is actually a type of unwanted software program, often a web browser add-on or extension, which then causes modifications in the web browser’s settings. Browser hijacker malware is developed for a number of reasons. These are generally used to force hits to a specific website, manipulating web traffic to generate ad revenue. It could seem harmless, but the majority of these websites aren’t legitimate and could pose a serious threat to your online safety. In a much worst case, your internet browser could be hi-jacked to open up your computer to a host of additional computer infections.

How one can identify a browser hijack

There are several signs of browser hijacking. Here are a few of them: the home page of your browser is changed unexpectedly; you get re-directed to websites you never intended to visit; the essential web browser settings are altered and unwanted or unsafe resources are added to the trusted websites list; discover new toolbars that you didn’t add; endless pop-up adverts show up and/or your web browser popup blocker is disabled; your browser gets sluggish, buggy, crashes frequently; you can’t navigate to certain internet pages, for example, security software related websites.

So how does a browser hijacker infect a computer?

Browser hijackers infect computers via malicious email attachments, downloaded infected files, or by going to infected sites. Many internet browser hijackings come from add-on software, i.e., toolbars, browser helper objects (BHO), or plug-ins added to browsers to provide them extra capabilities. Browser hijackers sneak into your pc in addition to free software application downloads that you unwittingly install along with the original. An example of some infamous browser hijacker includes Babylon, Anyprotect, Conduit, SweetPage, DefaultTab, RocketTab, and Delta Search, but the names are often changing. Browser hijacking can bring about severe privacy problems and also identity theft, affect your browsing experience by taking control over outgoing traffic, drastically slows down your PC by consuming lots of resources, and result in system instability also.

Getting rid of browser hijackers

Some browser hijacking could be easily stopped by discovering and eliminating the corresponding malware program through your control panel. But, most browser hijackers are difficult to eliminate manually. No matter how much you try to eliminate it, it can return over and over. Rookie PC users should not try for the manual form of removal, since it needs thorough computer knowledge to perform fixes on the system registry and HOSTS file. Professionals always recommend users to remove any malware including browser hijacker with an automatic removal tool, which is easier, safer, and quicker than the manual removal technique. Safebytes Anti-Malware has a state-of-the-art anti-malware engine that will help you stop browser hijacking in the first place, and clean up any existing issues.

What To Do If You Cannot Download Safebytes Anti-Malware?

Malware could potentially cause all sorts of damage once they invade your computer, starting from stealing your private details to erasing data files on your computer system. The most effective way to avoid this issue is to choose a web browser that is renowned for its security features. Firefox contains built-in Malware and Phishing Protection to keep you safe online.

Install security software on a USB drive

To effectively eliminate the malware, you need to approach the problem of installing an anti-virus software program on the infected PC from a different angle. Follow these steps to run the antivirus on the affected computer. 1) Download Safebytes Anti-Malware or Microsoft Windows Defender Offline onto a virus-free computer system. 2) Plug the pen drive into the uninfected computer. 3) Double click on the downloaded file to open the installation wizard. 4) Choose the USB stick as the destination for saving the software file. Four Proven Methods to Fix The Rundll Error

Rundll Error - What is it?

Rundll Error, DLL is also known as Dynamic Link Library is a Window library that basically consists of instructions and codes used and shared by multiple programs installed on your system. Solution

Restoro box imageError Causes

The rundll error code is triggered due to multiple reasons such as:
  • DLL file affected by virus and malware
  • Poor program installation
  • Invalid Windows registry entries
It is advisable to fix the run.dll error immediately without any delay because this error exposes your PC to serious threats such as system crash, freeze, failure, data loss, and even privacy threats like cybercrime, data breaches, and identity thefts.

Further Information and Manual Repair

To resolve the rundll error on your system, here are some solutions that you can try:

Solution 1: Reboot your System

Sometimes rebooting your system can also resolve the issue. However, if it doesn’t then you need to try some other solution to fix it.

Solution 2: Identify the Program Triggering the Error

To fix rundll error, the first thing that you need to do is to identify the program generating this error and check it for validity. For this, simply analyze the rundll error dialog box. Let’s say you get the following run.dll error on your system Error loading
C:\WINDOWS\system32\usvdgpo.dll.
This error message indicates that the program ‘usvdgpo’ is causing the run.dll error on the system. Once the program is identified, the next step is to stop it manually. For this, you go to the start menu and click run, now type ‘services.msc’ in the dialog box, and press ‘Enter’. After that right-click the related process to your rundll error and then click the ‘Stop’ button to stop the program. Now close the window. Though this action will stop the process it will not remove the reference to the bogus items. To remove that you will have to remove the program from the Windows Registry. This can be done by typing ‘Regedit’ in the Run dialog box. This will open the registry editor. From the keys listed in the left panel, navigate to the following key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Run. Now right-click on this key and click delete and then simply close the windows registry and reboot your system. After this, you will then have to uninstall the program to completely eradicate the rundll error. To do this, go to the control panel, Add/remove programs, and right-click to uninstall the program causing the run.dll error on your system. Click yes to confirm your decision. Once the program is uninstalled, reinstall the program using the program CD to get yourself an error-free program. This procedure is tricky, time-consuming, and maybe slightly challenging for you especially if you are not a computer programmer.

Solution 3: Run an Antivirus

If the cause of the run.dll error is a malware attack then you need to download an antivirus and run it on your system. However, this may impact the speed of your PC. Antivirus is notorious for slowing down PC speed.

Website isn’t responding to connection
If there are any third-party add-ons or proxy settings that interfere with your Windows 10 computer’s internet connection, then you will most likely encounter a problem where you see an error message saying, “Website is online but isn’t responding to connection attempts” when you try to run the Network Adapter troubleshooter. Like pointed out, this kind of error can be caused by some proxy settings that prevent the connection. On the other hand, it could also be caused by some third-party add-ons. To fix this error, read on as this post will guide you on what you can do to fix it. You can try to turn off the proxy settings or disable the add-ons on your browser. You can also try resetting both the TCP/IP and DNS as well as reset the network. For more details, refer to the options provided below.

Option 1 – Try to turn off the proxy settings

There are some users who reported that they’ve fixed the problem after they’ve disabled the use of a proxy server using the built-in way. Follow the steps below to disable the proxy server.

Option 2 – Try disabling the add-ons or browser extensions

The next thing you can do to fix the problem is to disable any extensions or add-ons on your browser. For instance, if you are using Chrome, here’s what you have to do:
  • Open Chrome and press Alt + F keys.
  • Go to More tools and click Extensions to look for any suspicious browser extensions or toolbars.
  • Click the Recycle bin and select Remove.
  • Restart Chrome and press Alt + F keys again.
  • Proceed to On Startup and mark Open a specific page or set of pages.
  • To check if the browser hijacker is still active, click Set pages, if it is active, overwrite the URL.

Option 3 – Try to update the Network Adapter Driver

Follow the steps below to update your Network Adapter Driver:
  • Tap the Win + R keys to launch the Run window and then type in the “MSC” command and hit Enter to open the Device Manager window.
  • From there, expand the list of all the network drives and update each one of them.
Note: If updating the network drivers didn’t help in fixing the problem, you can also try to uninstall the very same drivers and restart your Windows 10 PC. After that, the system itself will reinstall the drivers you just uninstalled. Alternatively, you can also download and install the drivers from the manufacturer’s website directly.

Option 4 – Try to reset the TCP/IP and the DNS cache

As you know, the TCP/IP or the Internet Protocol is the most important thing if you want to use the internet on your computer. That’s why if it ends up getting corrupted, you need to reset the TCP/IP to fix the problem. To reset TCP/IP, refer to these steps:
  • In the Windows start to search, type “command prompt” and right-click on Command Prompt from the search results.
  • Then select the “Run as administrator” option to open Command Prompt with admin privileges.
  • After that, execute this command: netsh int ip reset resettcpip.txt
  • Next, execute this second command: ipconfig /flushdns
  • Once it’s done, exit Command Prompt and restart your computer and then check if the error is now fixed.

Option 5 – Try to reset the Network

You can also try to perform a Network Reset to resolve the problem. This will reset the entire network configuration including your IP address. To perform Network Reset, follow these steps:
  • Tap the Win + I keys to open Settings.
  • From there, go to the Network and Internet section.
  • Next, scroll down and look for “Network Reset” under the status pane.
  • After that, click on Network Reset and then on Reset now to start resetting the network configuration. Once done, check if it is able to fix the error or not.

Media Player can't detect the length of file
Even with the new Groove Music in Windows 10, a lot of users still prefer to use the old Windows Media Player. This isn’t surprising since Windows Media Player still remains to be one of the best players you can find. However, that does not mean that it is without flaws as it could still encounter some issues from time to time. One of the issues you might encounter when using the Windows Media Player is when you try to burn DVDs or CDs but end up failing due to an error that pops up that says, Windows Media Player cannot detect the length of the file. At the time of writing, it isn’t clear yet what the real cause of the error is. However, there are several fixes that are provided in this post for you to check out so you can resolve the problem. You can try to get rid of any unsupported files from the burning list or you could also try running the Windows Media Player troubleshooters. Aside from that, you could also try to drag and drop music or change the burning speed. For more details, refer to the following options.

Option 1 – Get rid of the unsupported files from the burning list

You must get rid of the unsupported files from the list of files to burn. This list can be found on the right-hand side of the Windows Media Player. One of the indications that a file is causing problems is when there is a white cross in a red circle next to the file. You can simply click on that icon to remove the file from the burning list. Once you’ve gotten rid of all the unsupported files, try to burn your files to the CD or disk once more.

Option 2 – Try running the Windows Media Player troubleshooters

The next thing you can do to fix the error is to run the built-in troubleshooters for the Windows Media Player. Windows 10 actually comes pre-packed with three troubleshooters designed for Windows Media Player. They can help in fixing the “Windows Media Player cannot detect the length of the file” error. To run these troubleshooters, simply tap the Win + R keys to open the Run dialog box and type “msdt.exe -id WindowsMediaPlayerConfigurationDiagnostic” for the Windows Media Player Settings troubleshooter or type “msdt.exe -id WindowsMediaPlayerLibraryDiagnostic” for the Windows Media Player Library troubleshooter, or type “msdt.exe -id WindowsMediaPlayerDVDDiagnostic” for the Windows Media Player DVD troubleshooter.

Option 3 – Try to drag and drop music

Another thing you can check out is to drag and drop all the tracks into the Windows Media Player before you burn them. All you have to do is open the folder where the tracks are located and highlight all of them and then drag them to the Windows Media Player. It should now be able to detect the length of each one of the tracks without any errors.

Option 4 – Try to change the burning speed

Since the burning speed is set to fastest by default, you can try to change the burning speed to resolve the problem. Just open the Options window and then go to the Burn tab. From there, select either Medium or Slow burning speed and save the changes made. Now try to burn your files to the CD or disk once again.

Windows Search not searching the entire PC
There are times when the Windows Search results do not include what you want to search. However, if you are trying to search for something that’s located on your desktop and Libraries, they would appear right away on the search results. Actually, the issue is not with the search but with the list of files and folders that Windows can index. If you encounter this issue, read on as this post will guide you on how to fix it. The Windows 10 operating system, ever since Windows v1903 was released, offers two kinds of searches – the classic and the enhanced search. You may have to add more folders to the classic search or use the enhanced mode to resolve the issue. In other words, to fix the problem with the Start Menu Search, you can try to enable the Enhanced Mode or add folders to the Class Search or remove the excluded folders, as well as run the Search and Indexing troubleshooter. For more information, refer to each one of the options provided below.

Option 1 – Try to enable the Enhanced Mode

To fix the problem, you have to enable the Enhanced Mode search and configure the folders you want to be indexed. How? Follow these steps:
  • First, you have to go to Settings > Search > Searching Windows.
  • Next, select the radio button for the Enhanced option.
  • After that, select the folders you want the Windows Indexer to exclude from the Enhanced Search mode.

Option 2 – Try to add folders to the Class Search

If you don’t want to enable the Enhanced search mode, then you might want to add folders that are important to you. All you have to do is configure the Search Indexing Options by following these steps:
  • Go to Settings > Search > Classic and from there, click on the “Customize search locations” option.
  • Next, click on Modify in the pop-up window that appears.
  • Then add drives and folders that are important to you. Once the indexing is completed, Windows will be able to find the file and display it in the search results.

Option 3 – Try removing the excluded folders

If you have already enabled the Enhanced mode but your files still don’t appear, then you might want to check out the excluded folder list.
  • The first thing you have to do is go to Search and from there, you will find a list of folders under the Excluded folder list.
  • Next, click on the excluded folder that you want to remove by clicking on the “Remove Excluded folders” button.
  • If you are using the Classic search, you have to check if the index has restrictions on the file type. You can find it in Advanced options > File Types.
Note: If you want to search in Documents, you could also enable the Index Properties and File Contents. This should resolve the problem.

Option 4 – Try to run the Search and Indexing troubleshooter

You might also want to run the Search and Indexing troubleshooter in Windows 10 as it checks whether the settings for the Windows Start Search are in place and automatically corrects any issues if the update or software installation has changed the settings. To run it just click on the Start button and select Settings > Updates and Security > Troubleshoot. From there, select the Search and Indexing Troubleshooter.

Software review series: Freeplane
There are not many applications for creating mind maps, even fewer that are completely free, so it is with great pleasure to present you with Freeplane. Freeplane is mind mapping, Knowledge Management, and Project Management software completely free and open source. freeplaneYou can it here: https://sourceforge.net/projects/freeplane/files/latest/download

And from developers git page and I quote:

Freeplane is a free and open-source software application that supports thinking, sharing information, and getting things done at work, in school, and at home. The core of the software is tools for mind mapping (also known as concept mapping or information mapping) and using mapped information. Freeplane is written in Java using OSGi and Java Swing. It runs on any operating system that has a current version of Java installed. It can be run locally or portably from removable storage like a USB drive. We use Github only as of the main code repository, all other project parts are hosted at the source forge. So all bugs and feature requests are managed in a separate issue tracker. There is a drop-down box for selecting different types of issues. Other sources of inspiration are our new forum and old forum. Some users write their ideas there. Every contributor and every team member freely decides what task he is going to work on, but for making the best decision we can communicate our self-set goals in the above forum. It is supposed to enable early discussions and community feedback and also to motivate you and other people.

How to start hacking and contributing

People new to the project can start with implementing a new small feature or doing some refactoring or documentation and not with the bug fixing. Not all bug reports seem to be equally important, and if there are important bugs they usually get fixed by people who broke the functionality. I think you should first get there :). For internal developer discussions, there is a private mailing list. It is held private to avoid spam mails. If you want to be subscribed let us know what mail address you are going to use with it. This list is the preferred way to ask all code-related questions because they usually get answered soon and by the most competent team member. Some documentation for new developers is available in Freeplane wiki https://www.freeplane.org/wiki/index.php/How_to_build_Freeplane and also here and here. It is written for new guys and should also be maintained by the new guys to stay up to date. Looking forward to any questions and contributions, Freeplane development team
