Bad_Pool_Header is one of the types of BSOD (Blue Screen of Death) error codes. This error triggers a problem with Windows memory allocation.
When this error message occurs, the screen turns blue and locks the user out of the application running on the system. The computer shuts down or restarts.
Solution
Error Causes
There is no one particular cause for the occurrence of the Bad_Pool_Header error code. It may appear on your system due to multiple reasons such as:
Device driver issues
Cluttered disk
Disk writing issues
Faulty memory hardware
Driver issues and disk writing issues occur when your try to update new driver versions.
During this process, users often forget to remove the files of the uninstalled version from the registry. And due to the presence of the uninstalled driver files in the registry updating and disk writing becomes an uphill task which leads to the Bad_Pool_Header display on the computer screen.
The main database of your system is the registry so you need to keep it clean to avoid disk cluttering. The hard disk clutters because the registry saves all the activities that you perform in your system. It saves junk files, internet history, invalid entries, and other unnecessary files.
This occupies a lot of your disk space thus resulting in disk cluttering and faulty memory hardware issues triggering the Bad_Pool_Header.
Ignoring the Bad_Pool_Header error is not wise. It is advisable to repair the Bad_Pool_Header right away as it can lead to serious threats like system failure and data loss.

What software are you using to keep your information and all your files and memories safe?
None? Yikes. Let’s hope no damage has been done to your data yet then. Because with how the digital world has evolved, your data might be getting leaked and you have no idea.
Why do you need to invest in security software?
There’s really no good excuse not to purchase a quality platform for PC protection. Especially since top security solutions are available at such affordable prices nowadays, your wallet would barely even notice it.
At this point, only people who barely use their PCs and have zero sensitive information on them can get away with simply using the built-in Windows 10/11 security software. But we guarantee that those people are extremely hard to find and that you’re not one of them, and here’s why.
Even if you don’t use your computer for things that are very obviously sensitive, such as internet banking, you still have some personal data at risk of being stolen. How so? Well, think about the data you enter into your social media profiles, for example. How devastating would it be if somebody got a hold of any of it? Yep, that’s what we thought.

In the hands of a skilled cybercriminal, your phone number alone could put you at risk of scams, ransomware, identity theft and more. Also think about the stuff you share in texts and social media chats. Think about the websites you visit and how many times you may have accidentally clicked on an ad, which could very well contain malicious software. Those all seem harmless until someone’s actually used them against you.
Now imagine the dangers involved when you actually store truly confidential data on your PC and browsers. Sends shivers down your spine, doesn’t it?
In the case of a successful cyberattack of whatever type (virus, phishing, worms, etc.), there’s so much that is at stake. Businesses/legal persons will suffer from financial loss and damaged reputation, at the very least. Natural persons may be threatened or exploited, get their banking or medical information and even their identity stolen, etc. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg.
These are our biggest reasons for investing in Windows PC protection software:
Cyberthreats are constantly evolving to the point where built-in or free software won’t cut it anymore.
Those working remotely can have peace of mind knowing both personal and business data is completely secure.
Businesses using top security solutions ensure their customers trust them.
Data breaches are a pain in the you-know-what to handle. Fighting a cyberattack and going back to normal is a demanding process, and not to mention the stress it’ll cause. We’d rather prevent all that by using trustworthy security products!
It helps parents worry a little less about their children’s safety in the online world.
Added bonus: with most products, you get an ad-free browsing experience!
Obviously, there are a lot more reasons to get your PC secured. But we think you get it. So let’s cut to the chase and take a look at our 6 favorite protection solutions and the wonders they can do for you.
*Note that in this article we’re looking at products primarily suited for households and home offices, some for small businesses. No enterprise solutions will make the list today, but stay tuned for a future article on those.

Then type “inetcpl.cpl” in the field and hit Enter to pull up the Internet Properties.
After that, go to the Connections tab and select the LAN settings.
From there. Uncheck the “Use a Proxy Server” option for your LAN and then make sure that the “Automatically detect settings” option is checked.
Now click the OK and the Apply buttons.
Restart your PC.
Note: If you are using a third-party proxy service, you have to disable it.
Option 5 – Try disabling the VPN
As mentioned, if you are using VPN, this could be the reason why you’re getting Error Code 0x80244018 so the most obvious thing to do is for you to turn off the VPN and try to run the Windows Update once more. And if you use a VPN software that works using their software, you can just completely exit or log-off from its account. On the other hand, if you are using a built-in Windows 10 VPN, you can simply turn it off or delete all the settings you have created there. Although it’s understandable that you might have to use a VPN connection to connect to the work network, you really have to disable it at least after you’ve successfully installed the app.
Option 6 – Reset Windows Update components
Open Command Prompt with admin privileges.
After that, type each one of the following commands and hit Enter after you key in one after the other.
net stop wuauserv
net stop cryptsvc
net stop bits
net stop msiserver
Note: The commands you entered will stop the Windows Update components such as Windows Update service, Cryptographic services, BITS, and MSI Installer.
After disabling WU components, you need to rename both the SoftwareDistribution and Catroot2 folders. To do that, type each one of the following commands below, and don’t forget to hit Enter after you type one command after the other.
Next, restart the services you’ve stopped by entering another series of commands. Don’t forget to hit Enter after you key in one command after the other.
net start wuauserv
net start cryptsvc
net start bits
net start msiserver
Close Command Prompt and reboot your PC.
Option 7 – Run the System File Checker Scan
System File Checker or SFC is a built-in command utility that helps in restoring corrupted files as well as missing files. It replaces bad and corrupted system files with good system files that might be the cause why you’re getting the Error Code 0x80244018. To run the SFC command, follow the steps given below.
Tap Win + R to launch Run.
Type in cmd in the field and tap Enter.
After opening Command Prompt, type in sfc /scannow
The command will start a system scan which will take a few whiles before it finishes. Once it’s done, you could get the following results:
Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations.
Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files and successfully repaired them.
Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them.
Restart your PC.
Option 8 – Run the DISM tool
You can also run the DISM Tool as it helps in repairing the Windows System Image as well as the Windows Component Store in Windows 10. Using this built-in tool, you have various options such as the “/ScanHealth”, “/CheckHealth”, and “/RestoreHealth” which could help in fixing the Error Code 0x80244018.
Open the Command Prompt with admin privileges.
Then type in the following commands and make sure to hit Enter right after you type each one of them:
Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth
Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth
exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth
Do not close the window if the process takes a while as it will probably take a few minutes to finish.
Linkury Smartbar Engine is a Brower Toolbar for Internet Explorer. Upon investigation, we discovered that this toolbar does not work with the latest versions of Internet Explorer.
From the Author:
What the Smartbar does:
– Changes the default search engine in your web browser’s built-in search box.– Changes the default home page of your web browser.– Adds alternative “page not found” functionality.– Enable search from the address bar of your web browser.– Allows software updates of the application once a new version is released.– Adds, removes, or modifies components interacting with search input fields.
While installed, users may see additional unwanted ads throughout their browsing sessions.
Several anti-virus applications have marked this toolbar as a Browser Hijacker, and it is not recommended to keep it on your computer, especially if you are using a newer version of internet explorer that renders this toolbar useless.
About Browser Hijackers
Browser hijacking means a malicious program code has taken control over and modified the settings of your browser, without your permission. Browser hijackers will do a number of things on a computer. These are typically used to force visitors to a particular site, manipulating web traffic to earn ad revenue. It may appear naive, but the majority of these sites are not legitimate and may pose a serious threat to your online safety. They did not just screw up your web browsers, but browser hijackers can also modify the system registry, leaving your computer susceptible to other attacks.
How you can determine if your browser is hijacked
When your browser is hijacked, the following could happen: home-page is changed; you see new unwanted favorites or bookmarks added, usually directed to advertisement-filled or pornography sites; the default browser settings are changed and/or your default web engine is altered; you find unsolicited new toolbars added; never-ending pop-up adverts appear and/or your web browser pop-up blocker is disabled; your web browser starts running slowly or exhibits frequent errors; you can’t visit specific websites like home pages of security software.
Precisely how browser hijacker infects computer systems
Browser hijackers could use drive-by downloads or file-sharing websites or perhaps an e-mail attachment in order to reach a targeted computer. They may also come from any BHO, browser extension, add-on, toolbar, or plug-in with malicious intent. A browser hijacker can be installed as a part of freeware, shareware, demoware, and fake programs. A good example of a well-known browser hijacker is the latest Chinese malware called “Fireball”, which has infected 250 million PCs across the world. It works as a hijacker but can be turned into a fully functioning malware downloader afterward.
The existence of any browser hijacker malware on your system could substantially diminish the web browsing experience, monitor your internet activities that lead to serious privacy concerns, create system stability problems and ultimately cause your PC to slow down or to a nearly unusable state.
Removing browser hijackers
Some kinds of browser hijackers can be removed from your computer by deleting malicious software applications or any other recently added freeware. At times, it could be a tough job to find and eliminate the malicious program since the associated file could be running as part of the operating system process. Also, manual removals require in-depth system understanding and thus can be a very difficult job for novice computer users.
Browser hijackers could be effectively removed by installing and running an anti-malware program on the affected PC. To eradicate any kind of browser hijacker from your laptop or computer, you could download this certified malware removal application – SafeBytes Anti-Malware. Utilize a system optimizer together with your anti-malware software to fix various computer registry problems, eliminate computer vulnerabilities, and enhance your computer's overall performance.
Help! Malware Blocking Anti-virus Installation And Access To The Web
Practically all malware is bad, but certain kinds of malware do a lot more damage to your computer than others. Some malware sits in between the computer and your net connection and blocks some or all websites that you really want to check out. It would also block you from installing anything on your machine, especially anti-virus software. Error Code 0x8007232B (Code 0x8007232B) – What is it?
Error code 0x8007232B (Code 0x8007232B) is an error that occurs when you attempt to activate Windows Server 2008 or Windows Vista.
Common symptoms include:
Attempting to activate Windows 7, Windows 8, or Windows Server 2012 and you receive an error message.
The error message says: “Windows could not be activated. Key management services host could not be located in domain name system, please have your system administrator verify that a KMS is published correctly in DNS”
The error message says “The directory name, file name, or volume label syntax is incorrect”.
Error Causes
Error Code 0x8007232B occurs when you attempt to use media that is volume licensed to install: Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows Vista Enterprise, Windows Vista Business, Windows Server 2012, Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2008 R2.
This error code also occurs when the activation wizard is unable to connect to a Key Management Service host computer.
Further Information and Manual Repair
Error code 0x8007232B can be seen when you are trying to activate windows, on several different operating systems. This problem can usually be easily corrected, but in the event that it can't, please contact a computer repair technician. When you try to install any of the previously mentioned Windows products, they use a generic product key to install the volume-based license software. If you do have a KMS host computer configuration and see these error codes, that means the correct DNS entries are not being seen on the computer. If there is not a KMS host computer setup, you need to do this setup, otherwise switch to a MAK product key method, and activate the volume license installation that way.
Method One:
Using a Multiple Activation Key as opposed to KMS activation
Click the Start icon, click on All Programs, click on Accessories, right-click on Command prompt.
Click on “Run as administrator”. Type in the password or provide confirmation if prompted for administrator password or confirmation.
When asked for the command prompt, enter in the following and then hit the Enter buuton: slmgr -ipk xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx Note: this placeholder represents the MAK product key.
Method Two:
Configure a KMS host server for the clients to activate against.
A KMS host server needs to be configured for the clients to activate against. When there are no KMS host servers configured near you, install and activate a KMS server key. After this, configure a computer on the network to host this KMS software and publish the Domain Name System (DNS) settings.
Method Three:
When the client cannot locate a KMS host on the network for activation:
1. Verify that your computer has the KMS host installed and activated by using a KMS key that is registered in DNS. You will follow these steps to do that:
Click the Start button, click on All Programs, click Accessories, and then right-click on Command Prompt.
Click on Run as Administrator. Type the password or provide confirmation if you are asked for an administrator password or for confirmation.
In the command prompt box, type the following command and press ENTER: nslookup -type=all _vlmcs.tcp>kms.txt
Then open the KMS.txt file generated by this command. The file will contain at least one entry that relays the SRV service location.
2. A KMS host server registers a DNS SRV record once every 24 hours by default. You should check the registry to see if the KMS host server is registering with the DNS. Follow these steps to do so:
Click on Start, type in regedit, and then press Enter.
Locate HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsNTCurrentVersionSL and then click on it.
The KMS server does not register in DNS if the DisableDnsPublishing subkey is existing and has a value of 1. If this subkey is missing altogether, create a DWORD value called the DisableDnsPublishing. If the dynamic registration is suitable, the subkey value should be changed to 0. Right-click DisableDnsPublishing, click on Modify, enter 0 into the Value data box, and click OK.
If you got the Microsoft Store error code 0x80072F30 while trying to open Microsoft Store, then it indicates that the Store fails to connect to the internet or is not able to launch successfully for some reason. It could be that the Windows Update Service has stopped or the Windows Store cache might be corrupted or it could just be due to a poor internet connection. Whichever the cause is, you have to fix this error so that you can use Microsoft Store again and you won’t be getting the following error message every time you open the app:
“Check your connection, Microsoft Store needs to be online, It looks like you are not, error code 0x80072f30.”
The error code 0x80072F30 is related to the Windows Store which prevents it from opening properly. To resolve this problem, you can try fixing the problem with the help of the options given below. Follow each one of them carefully.
Option 1 – Check your internet connection
The first and most obvious thing you can do is to check your internet connection. This may only be a basic tip but it sure works like a charm in most cases. And if you have another internet connection available, you can also try connecting to that and see if you can pull up Microsoft Store or not.
1] Change your internet connection:
A basic tip, but sometimes works like a charm. You may want to check if your internet connection has an issue, or you can also try opening a website and see if you can open it and if possible try connecting to a different internet connection and see if the Microsoft Store opens for you. We also suggest you try changing your DNS and see if it helps.
Option 2 – Check the date and time as well as the time zone of your PC
A lot of services and apps rely on the Date, Time, and Time Zone of your PC which is why if they are not configured correctly, a request from the client machine will be rejected from the server and the same thing happens with the Microsoft Store.
First, go to Settings > Time and Language.
From there, check if it is set to Automatic or not – if it is, switch the toggle button off to set the Time and Time zone manually.
Then select the right time zone manually.
On the other hand, if the Time and Time zone is set manually, you have to switch the toggle button on to set Time and Time zone automatically.
Restart your PC and afterward try opening Microsoft Store again and check if the problem’s fixed or not.
Option 3 – Run the Network Adapter Troubleshooter
Since Windows 10 is packed with various troubleshooters – one of which is the Network Adapter Troubleshooter – you can use it to troubleshoot the problem. To use it, follow these steps:
Open the Search bar on your computer and type in “troubleshoot” to open the Troubleshoot settings.
Next, scroll down and select the “Network Adapter” option from the right pane.
Then click on the Run Troubleshooter” button.
After that, your computer will check for any possible errors and will pinpoint the root cause of the problem if possible.
Option 4 – Try to reset the Microsoft Store cache
Just like browsers, Microsoft Store also caches as you view apps and games so it is most likely that the cache is no longer valid and must be removed. To do so, follow the steps below.
Right-click on the start button and click on Command Prompt (administrator).
Next, type in the command, “exe” and tap Enter. Once you do, the command will clear the cache for the Windows Store app.
Now restart your PC and afterward, try opening Microsoft Store again.
Option 5 – Check the Windows Update Service status
You might also want to check the status of the Windows Update Service since the proper functioning of this app depends on the Windows Update Service. It could be that there is some issue with the service which is why you’re getting the error code 0x80072F30 while trying to open Microsoft Store.
Tap the Win + R keys to open the Run dialog box.
Then type “services.msc” in the field and hit Enter to open Services.
Next, look for Windows Update Service from the list of available services in Windows.
Once you see it, check if its status is STOP or Pause and then change the status to Automatic.
