OpenCandy is an application that downloads and installs software, including other Internet Browsers to a computer system. In fact, this application is only categorized as malware because of its’ subtle covert nature of installing bundled programs unsolicited by the user. Additionally, OpenCandy coerces users into changing their Internet Browsers by installing those unrequested by the user. In fact, it’s no shock that OpenCandy chose to install the Internet Browser ‘Opera’ as a part of this bundle since it’s one of the least used browsers according to the Federal Government. Clearly, this was a smoothly disguised advertisement or promotion to force users into using the Opera Browser, along with Internet Explorer 8.0. While these aforementioned browsers in themselves aren’t malicious and are in no way considered malware, they were installed as a promotional tool and without the request of the user. Despite being mentioned within the EULA, advertisers are capitalizing on this since most users do not bother to read the agreements when installing a program. Furthermore, OpenCandy, like most other bundled applications I’ve dealt with, threw in a tune-up tool as a part of the promotion. I found this tune-up application annoying since I had to hassle my way into getting it to close from the computer screen. • Tuneup Utilities: Tuneup Utilities does exactly as it says. It cleans up a computer system, whereby preventing unused programs from slowing it down.
• Opera Stable 30.01.1835.88: Opera is a fast, simple, and effective Internet browser that allows users to get around on the web.

All in all, the intent of installing an application such as OpenCandy is to unleash a world of promotion or advertisements on your computer. They are pretty annoying and in some cases difficult to remove. Furthermore, as a user, you want to control what gets installed on your computer without being dictated to or coerced in some EULA that you probably overlook. To uninstall an RSAT feature, here’s what you have to do:

As you know, Windows allows you to share files between systems that are on the same network even though they are not connected physically. All you have to do is to make sure that the folder administrator allows access to the intended use and that your computer should be connected to the internet. Once you meet these conditions, you can share files between systems. Even though the shared folder or file is shared correctly, it is possible that the network channel is not connected properly which is why you have to test it by pinging the IP address of the targeted computer from the primary computer.

• Tap the Win + R keys to launch the Run dialog box.
• Type “cmd” in the field and tap Enter to open Command Prompt.
• Next, type the “ipconfig/all” command and tap Enter to execute it. This will populate various details.
• From the given details, take note of the IPv4 address.
• Afterward, open Command Prompt on the primary computer and then type the “ping <IPv4 address of the target computer>” command and hit Enter.
• Now check if you get 4 confirmation replies or not. If not, you can try to access the Network Adapter Troubleshooter.

To run the Network Troubleshooter, refer to these steps:

• Open the Search bar on your computer and type in “troubleshoot” to open the Troubleshoot settings.
• Next, scroll down and select the “Network Adapter” option from the right pane.
• Then click on the Run Troubleshooter” button.
• After that, your computer will check for any possible errors and will pinpoint the root cause of the problem if possible.
• Restart your computer.

Option 4 – Verify if Network Discovery is enabled

All you have to do is go to Start > Settings > Network & Internet and from there, click on the “Change connection properties” option and shift the radio button for Network profile to Private. After that, check if folder sharing is now working.

Option 5 – Try to modify the Network Security settings

There are times when the Network Security settings interfere with the folder or file sharing process. And if that’s the case, you can modify it to resolve the problem. How? Refer to these steps:

• Tap the Win + R keys to open the Run dialog box.
• Then type “secpol.msc” in the field and tap Enter to open the Local Security Policy manager window.
• After that, go to Local Policies > Security Options located on the left pane.
• Next, double click on Network security: LAN Manager authentication level in the right pane to open its Properties.
• And then select the “Send LM & NTLM-use NTLMv2 session security if negotiated” option from the drop-down menu.
• Now click on Apply and OK buttons to save the changes made.
• Reboot your computer.

Option 6 – Try to enable NetBIOS over TCP/IP

• Tap the Win + R keys to open the Run dialog box.
• Then type “ncpa.cpl” in the field and tap Enter to open the Network Connections window.
• After that, right-click on your network and select Properties.
• Next, double click on Internet Protocol Version 4 and click on the Advanced button.
• From there, go to the WINS tab and shift the radio button to Enable NetBIOS over TCP/IP.
• Now click OK to save the changes made and then restart your computer.

Option 7 – Update the Network Adapter drivers

You might also want to update the Network Adapter drivers by following these steps:

• Tap the Win + R keys to launch the Run window and then type in the “MSC” command and hit Enter to open the Device Manager window.
• Under the Device Manager, you will see a list of drivers. From there, look for the Network Adapters and expand it.
• Then right-click on each one of the Network drivers and update them all.
• Restart your PC and see if it helped in fixing the BSOD error.

Note: If updating the network drivers didn’t help in fixing Error code: 0x80070035, you can also try to uninstall the very same drivers and restart your Windows 10 PC. • From there, take off the Active Wireless / Wired Network Connection.
• Next, open Command Prompt as admin.
• Then type the “netsh interface IPv4 set subinterface “Ethernet 4” mtu=1472 store=persistent” command and hit Enter to execute it.

Option 4 – Flush the DNS and reset TCP/IP

Flushing the DNS and reset TCP/IP could also help in fixing the ERR_CONNECTION_RESET error in Chrome. To do so, refer to these steps:

• Click the Start button and type in “command prompt” in the field.
• From the search results that appear, right-click on Command Prompt and select the “Run as administrator” option.
• After opening Command Prompt, you have to type each one of the commands listed below. Just make sure that after you type each command, you hit Enter
  • ipconfig /release
  • ipconfig /all
  • ipconfig /flushdns
  • ipconfig /renew
  • netsh int ip set dns
  • netsh winsock reset

After you key in the commands listed above, the DNS cache will be flushed and the Winsock, as well as the TCP/IP, will reset.

Option 5 – Disable the AppEx Networks Accelerator feature

• Then right-click on each one of the Network drivers and select “Uninstall device”.
• Restart your PC.

Option 8 – Try to disable the Wi-Fi Miniport

• In the Cortana Search box, type “command prompt” then right-click on the search result and select “Run as administrator”.
• After opening Command Prompt with admin privileges, type the commands listed below and hit Enter right after you key in each one of them.
  • netsh wlan stop hostednetwork
  • netsh wlan set hostednetwork mode=disallow
• Now exit Command Prompt and tap the Win + R keys to open the Run dialog box.
• Type “cpl” in the field and hit Enter to open Network Connections.
• From there, look for Microsoft Virtual Wi-Fi Miniport and right-click on it, and then select Disable.

Option 9 – Start Chrome in Safe Mode

The same with Windows Safe Mode, starting Chrome in Sage mode will open the browser but without all the user settings and extensions. And then try opening the website you were trying to open earlier.

Option 10 – Reset Google Chrome

• Open Google Chrome, then tap the Alt + F keys.
• After that, click on Settings.
• Next, scroll down until you see the Advanced option, once you see it, click on it.
• After clicking the Advanced option, go to the “Restore and clean up the option and click on the “Restore settings to their original defaults” option to reset Google Chrome.
• Now restart Google Chrome.

In the past, CDs, DVDs, and floppy drivers used to be the primary sources of external storage for many users – that is until the USB storage devices took over. These days, a lot of devices no longer have a built-in CD or DVD writer or reader as it contributes to the thickness of the device. On the other hand, there are still various devices that still come with a built-in CD or DVD writer or reader. However, recently, users who still use CD or DVD on their devices reported a problem where the CD or DVD icon is not visible in the File Explorer as well as in “This PC” or the My Computer page. The cause of this issue is still unknown at the time of writing, but there are still some potential fixes you can try to fix it. You can try to update or roll back the device drivers or apply some tweaks in the Registry Editor. For more details, refer to the given options below.

Option 1 – Try to update or rollback device drivers

The first thing you can try to fix the missing CD or DVD icon is to either update or roll back the device drivers. It is most likely that after you updated your Windows computer that your driver also needs a refresh. On the other hand, if you have just updated your device drivers then you need to roll back the drivers to their previous versions. Whichever applies to you, refer to the steps below.

• Open the Devices Manager from the Win X Menu.
• Then locate the device drivers and right-click on them to open the Properties. Note that the concerned drivers will be listed under the DVD/CD-ROM drives section as well as the IDE/ATAPI Controllers section.
• From there, look for the following drivers:
  • ATA Channel 0.
  • ATA Channel 1.
  • Standard Dual Channel PCI IDE Controller.
• Now, right-click on each one of the listed drivers and update them all. You could also try to roll them back to their previous versions.

Note: You can also directly download the relevant drivers of your computer from the manufacturers’ website. So if you have an SSD, the issue might be due to an old storage driver.

Option 2 – Try to use the Registry Editor

• Tap the Win + R keys to open the Run dialog box and type “Regedit” in the field and then tap Enter to open the Registry Editor.
• Next, navigate to this registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetControlClass{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
• After that, look for the DWORD values named “UpperFilters” and “LowerFilters”.
• Right-click on each one of these DWORD values and select Delete.
• Now restart your computer and see if it fixes the problem.

Option 3 – Try creating a new Registry entry

There is another option you can try in the Windows Registry to fix the missing icon of the CD/DVD. You can try adding a new entry. How? Refer to these steps:

• Tap the Win ­+ R keys to open the Run dialog box and type “Regedit” in the field and hit Enter to open the Registry Editor.
• After that, navigate to this registry path: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetServicesatapi
• From there, right-click on “ATAPI” and select New > Key.
• After that, name it is “Controller0” and right-click on the sub-key and then select New > DWORD (32-bit) Value.
• Now name it as “EnumDevice1” and double click on it and then set its value data to “1”.
• Click OK and restart your computer to apply the changes made successfully.

Ownership issues

Antivirus Issue

As with other file and application issues, this error could also be a product of antivirus marking it inaccessible to Windows and thus preventing copy or move operation on it. note: Do not turn off Windows defender since it was proven that it is not the cause of this kind of error, so if you are using only Windows defender you can skip this solution. How temporary turning off each security suite is different and it depends on the application itself we can not cover in detail the procedure here. Go to your security suite manufacturer's website and get information there or if you want, go directly to applications and features inside Windows and uninstall the software.

Visual Studio issue

• If the file you are trying to move is part of a Visual Studio project then the issue can be linked directly to Visual Studio itself, luckily the solution is quite easy. All you have to do it to exit Visual Studio and then run it with administrator privileges.
• In order to run Visual Studio with elevated privileges locate its executable file and right-click on it.
• Choose properties and go to the compatibility tab
• Inside compatibility tab check box that says run this program as an administrator

Corrupted system files

If the previous solutions have not provided you with results then you have system file corruption that needs to be fixed. Move from one solution to another as presented below:

1. Run SFC scan

   SFC scan is a built-in Windows tool for solving corrupted system file issues, it is fully automated and does not require from the user any kind of knowledge or information. To run it and scan the system do the following: Press ⊞ WINDOWS + X to open the secret menu Left-click on the command prompt (admin) In command prompt type SFC /SCANNOW and press ENTER Wait for the process to finish, do not interrupt it and once it is done, restart your computer

2. Run DISM scan

   DISM scan is similar to SFC scan but it tackles different types of system file corruption and it is recommended to run it also after SFC has been completed. Please note that for DISM scan to be successful you will need a stable internet connection since DISM will replace corrupted files with new ones downloaded from Microsoft. To run it do the following: Press ⊞ WINDOWS + X to open the secret menu Left-click on the command prompt (admin) inside command prompt type: exe /online /cleanup-image /scanhealth followed by ENTER, then type: Dism.exe /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth also followed with ENTER. Leave scan to finish and reboot your PC
