Black Screen During Installation - What Is It?

Many are upgrading their OS to Windows 10, however, it’s not always smooth sailing because users have been reportedly experiencing different bugs including Black Screen after a successful update.

One common issue in installing Windows 10 is the appearance of a black screen after installation. This usually occurs when the user restarts the computer. • The product key entered was invalid, and cannot be used to activate the new OS.

• After you access the Advanced Startup options, select Command Prompt by using the arrow keys on your keyboard.

chkdsk /f /r

However, if you are not fond of advertisements and you do not want this feature of Microsoft to track your usage, worry not for you actually have the option to disable targeted ads on your Windows 10 computer by turning off the Advertising ID. And you can do that during Windows 10 Setup or using the Group Policy Editor. For more details, refer to the instructions provided below for each one of the methods.

Option 1 – Turn off Advertising ID during Windows 10 setup

If you are about to install Windows 10, then during the installation process, your computer boots into the Install and Configure Windows 10 screen with Cortana that assist you during the setup. Once you reach the last page which is “Choose privacy settings for your device”, you will see the Advertising ID of your computer. Under the Advertising ID, you have to disable or toggle off the “Apps can use advertising ID to provide more personalized advertising in accordance with the privacy policy of the app provider” option. After you disable it, click on the Accept button to proceed with the installation. After that, the copy of your Windows 10 you are using will have the Advertising ID disabled by default.

Option 2 – Turn off Advertising ID via Group Policy Editor

• First, tap the Win + R keys to launch the Run utility.
• Then, type “gpedit.msc” in the field and click OK or tap Enter to open the Group Policy Editor.
• Next, navigate to this group policy setting: Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > System > User Profiles
• Now double click on the “Turn off the advertising ID” option and set the radio button to Enabled. Once you do, you will see the following description on your screen:

“This policy setting turns off the advertising ID, preventing apps from using the ID for experiences across apps. If you enable this policy setting, the advertising ID is turned off. Apps can’t use the ID for experiences across apps. If you disable or do not configure this policy setting, users can control whether apps can use the advertising ID for experiences across apps.” Note that setting the radio button to Enabled or Not Configured will turn off the data collection of the Advertising ID.

• Finally, exit the Group Policy Editor and then restart your computer to apply the changes made successfully.

Computer voice control has moved a long way from its beginning routes and in today's age controlling your PC with voice is truly a reality and fully possible. Voice control is taking up the steam in everyday life, from simple commands in cars, Alexa, smartphones, TVs, etc. to modern computers.

Windows 10 has introduced voice control into PC with Cortana even during the installation process but a lot has changed from having a virtual assistant in begging days and in today's modern Windows 11 OS. You can now freely open apps, move, copy delete files, and even dictate in order to create a word document.

However, in order to take this advantage, you will need to turn it off first since it is disabled by default. Of course, you will need a microphone and some spare time to train Windows in understanding you properly.

Setting up Voice Control

Just like in Windows 10, in Windows 11 voice control is also in accessibility options and the first step is to turn ON Windows Speech Recognition.

Click on the Start button and type Settings into the search bar, click on Open, or press ENTER. On the left side of the settings, window locate and click on Accessibility. On the right part once Accessibility is selected scroll down and find a section titled Interaction and click on Speech. Turn on the switch next to Windows Speech Recognition.

Improving Voice Control

In order to make your voice control better, if you are not satisfied with the results, you can sample more of your voice into the algorithm to tune it more to your liking. Sadly this option is still deep in Control Panel.

Click the Start button and type in Speech recognition into the search bar, look for the search result with Control Panel displayed under it, and click on Open. Click on Train Your Computer to Better Understand You and follow the instructions.

The process will probably take a few minutes. The more data you provide to the speech recognition model, the more accurate it will be when interpreting your instructions. You can train the model multiple times, and each time you do, it should improve the accuracy.

If the Diagnostic Data level in your Windows 10 computer is configured manually to the non-default security setting of zero and you’ve encountered an error code of 0xc0000005, read on as this post will guide you in fixing the problem with the Remote Access Connection Manager Service. Option 1 – Try installing the KB Update 4505903

The first thing you can do to fix the problem is to make sure that you’ve already installed the KB Update 4505903 in your computer. If not, then you have to go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and from there select the Check for updates link. You need to get the standalone package if you are using the Microsoft Update Catalog to update your computer and for that, you have to the website of the Microsoft Update Catalog. On the other hand, if you are using the Windows Server Update Services or WSUS, then you can just manually import the KB Update 4505903 into WSUS.

Option 2 – Try to enable Telemetry in the Group Policy and run the RASMAN service

The next thing you can do to fix the problem is to enable Telemetry via Group Policy and then run the RASMAN service. To do that, follow these steps:

• Tap the Win + R keys to open the Run dialog box and type “gpedit.msc” in the field and hit Enter to open the Group Policy Editor.
• Next, navigate to Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Data Collection and Preview Builds > Allow Telemetry.
• After that, open the policy and select one of the security levels like Basic, Enhanced, and Full.
• Then click on the Apply and OK buttons to save the changes made and close the Group Policy Editor.
• Once one, open the Run dialog box again and type “services.msc” in the field, and hit Enter to open the Windows Services Manager.
• From there, look for the Remote Access Connection Manager Service and restart it. And then check if it resolved the problem or not...

Option 3 – Try enabling Telemetry via Settings

• Tap the Win + I keys to open the Settings app.
• Next, go to Privacy > Diagnostics and Feedback and select Basic or Enhanced under the Diagnostic data.
• After that, tap the Win + R keys to launch Run and type “services.msc” in the field, and hit Enter to open the Services Manager.
• From there, look for the Remote Access Connection Manager Service and restart it.

Option 4 – Try to enable Telemetry via Registry Editor

• Launch the Run utility and type “regedit” in the field and tap Enter to open the Registry Editor.
• Then navigate to this path: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREPoliciesMicrosoftWindowsDataCollection
• From this path, look for “AllowTelemetry” and double click on it.
• Now enter the values, 1, 2, 3 for Basic, Enhanced, Full, respectively.
• If you can’t find AllowTelemetry, then just create a DWORD (32-bit) and name it “AllowTelemetry” and edit its value.
• Once done, exit the Registry Editor and restart the Remote Access Connection Manager Service from the Services Manager.
