Setting up Logitech C922 in Windows 10

Being a streamer altho popular is a very demanding call, there is a lot of technical knowledge involved and one of this knowledge is setting your web camera equipment. On the internet, you can find how to install certain devices and register them in Windows but with little to no information on how to set everything for streaming. In this article, we will try to address as many of this as we can so you can start using your camera right away.

Features of the Logitech C922 Pro Stream Webcam

In the package of your Logitech C922 Pro Stream Webcam, you should have the camera itself with a USB hookup, tripod, and user manual. Tripod, of course, is meant to stabilize the camera for recording using high zoom values so visual shaking of the picture is eliminated.

The camera itself captures natural light without any distortion in full HD and if placed on top of the monitor it can accommodate the field of view to capture two people. Also when in a low-light room, autofocus will correct light and it will sharpen an image in order to compensate for lack of light. The camera also features a dual microphone for clarity of sound.

Assembling the Logitech C922 Webcam

Of course, the first thing when the camera is unpacked is to assemble it. Basically, there are two ways for the camera to be assembled:

  1. On top of monitor and
  2. On tripod

The next section will cover both assemblings

Mounting camera on the monitor:

The Logitech C922 Pro Stream Webcam can be used to capture up-close images or video from the top of any computer monitor or TV.

To set up your Logitech C922 Webcam on top of a monitor or TV:

  • Completely extend the mounting stand until it reaches the top width of your monitor or TV
  • Turn the bottom piece of the mounting stand, so it matches the angle of the back of your monitor or TV
  • Place the mounting stand on top of your monitor or TV and tighten the bars until they’re flush with each surface
  • Pivot the webcam up, down, or to the sides to center the camera angle

After you have securely mounted the C922 to your monitor or TV, it’s ready to be plugged in and used with any recording application on your computer.

Mounting camera on the tripod

You can set up your Logitech C922 Pro Stream Webcam to record a 78-degree view of a room for presentations or live streams by attaching it to the tripod.

To set up your Logitech C922 Webcam with a tripod:

  • Unfold and extend the legs of your tripod
  • Place the webcam on top of the tripod, aligning the swivel bolt with the webcam mounting hole
  • Swivel the bolt by turning a small knob on the tripod

Once you have assembled your Logitech C922 Pro Stream Webcam on your tripod, plug it into your computer and load up your favorite recording application.

How can you use your Logitech C922 Pro Stream Camera?

Altho this camera is designed and built to be used in a live stream environment it can also be used to record video offline to a file. In this next segment, we will explore further applications in which the camera is meant to be used.

Live video

The Logitech C922 Pro Stream Webcam allows content creators to share content in high definition with thousands of viewers in real-time. Stream full 1080p at 30 frames per second and 720p at 60 frames per second live on platforms such as Twitch or YouTube.

New vulnerability found in Windows
Windows users need to be on high alert. Microsoft has confirmed a critical vulnerability has been found in all versions of Windows which presents an immediate threat, and you need to act now. A critical new zero-day hack has been found which affects all Windows versions. windows vulnerabilityTracked as CVE-2021-34484, the “zero-day” flaw enables hackers to breach all versions of Windows (including Windows 10, Windows 11, and Windows Server 2022) and take control of your computer. Microsoft mistakenly thought it had patched the vulnerability (which was first found in August) when it was publicly disclosed in October. But the fix itself was found to be flawed, something the company admitted, and this drew even more attention to the vulnerability. Microsoft subsequently promised to “take appropriate action to keep customers protected” but two weeks later, a new fix has still not arrived. Luckily the third-party security specialist 0patch has beaten Microsoft to the punch with a ‘micropatch that it has now made available for all Windows users “Micropatches for this vulnerability will be free until Microsoft has issued an official fix," 0patch confirmed. You will need to register for a 0patch account and install its download agent before the fix can be applied, but with 0patch fast becoming a go-to destination for hot fixes which beat software companies to the punch this is a no brainer. Hopes will be high that Microsoft can release an effective patch sooner rather than later but, until then, all Windows users must act now if they want to be safe. Fix The backup application could not start
Windows comes with a built-in backup solution. However, if it failed because of an internal error, you will encounter an error message saying, “The backup application could not start due to an internal error, Server execution failed (0x80080005)”. When you get this kind of error, it means that it did not start and the process failed with a Server execution error. If you got this kind of error worries not for this post will guide you in fixing the problem in your Windows 10 computer. The Windows Backup service is an excellent feature in Windows that only works on the NTFS file system and if you want to use this make sure that you have formatted your files system to NTFS. It is performed by the Volume Shadow Copy, all you have to do is right-click on any folder and if you see the “Previous versions” option, this means that a backup process runs from time to time and can bring back old files when needed. To resolve the “The backup application could not start due to an internal error”, here are two suggestions you can check out.

Option 1 – Check if the Volume Shadow Copy service is running and restart it

The first thing you need to do is check if the Volume Shadow Copy service. To do that, refer to the following steps:
  • Click on Start and type “cmd” and right-click on Command Prompt from the search results.
  • Then select the “Run as administrator” option to open Command Prompt with admin privileges.
  • After that, type “net stop sdrsvc” and hit Enter to execute the command in stopping the Volume Shadow Copy service.
  • Next, type the “net start sdrsvc” command and hit Enter to start the service again.
Note: You can also restart the service using the Windows Services Manager.
  • In the Cortana search box, type “services” and click on the Services icon to open the Services Manager. Alternatively, you can also tap the Win + R keys to launch the Run prompt and then type “services.msc” in the field and hit Enter to open the Services Manager.
  • From there, look for the Volume Shadow Service (sdrsv) from the list of services. Its Startup type should be set to Manual by default.
  • Restart the service and if you don’t encounter any error while you turn it on, re-run the backup service and see if the backup process runs successfully.

Option 2 – Try to run the Volume Shadow Copy Service in a Clean Boot State

If the first option didn’t work and the service still keeps on failing even though the service is running, you can try putting your computer in a Clean Boot State and then try to run Windows Backup again.
  • Log onto your PC as an administrator.
  • Type in MSConfig in the Start Search to open the System Configuration utility.
  • From there, go to the General tab and click “Selective startup”.
  • Clear the “Load Startup items” check box and make sure that the “Load System Services” and “Use Original boot configuration” options are checked.
  • Next, click the Services tab and select the “Hide All Microsoft Services” check box.
  • Click Disable all.
  • Click on Apply/OK and restart your PC. (This will put your PC into a Clean Boot State. And configure Windows to use the usual startup, just simply undo the changes.)
  • Now try to run the Volume Shadow Copy service again and see if the process goes smoothly.
Note: You might also want to delete all the files in the backup solution if you want to start fresh with the backup solution. Just go to C:/System/Volume/Information/Windows Backup and take ownership of the folder. After that, make sure to stop the Volume Shadow Copy service and then delete all the files inside it.

There is No Sleep Option in Power Menu
If the Sleep option is missing from the Power Menu then this could be caused by the power settings, local group policy configuration, etc. in your computer. Based on the reports of users who experience the same problem, the issue occurred after they’ve updated or upgraded their Windows 10 computers. As you know, the sleep mode is quite useful in certain cases and is utilized by most users. If you put your computer in sleep mode, it actually minimizes the power usage of your computer while at the same time keeps your current session running. So if sleep mode is suddenly missing, then that could be a problem but worry not for this post will give you possible fixes to resolve the issue. Make sure to follow each one of them carefully to achieve good results.

Option 1 – Check the Power settings

As mentioned, one of the reasons why the Sleep option is missing could be the power settings in your computer. To check this possibility, make sure that you’ve enabled the sleep mode in the Power options setting window. How? Refer to these steps:
  • First, go to the Start menu, and from there open Control Panel.
  • Next, set the View by Large icons and select the Power Options.
  • After that, click on the “Choose what the power buttons do” option on the left-hand side.
  • Then click on the “Change settings that are currently unavailable” option and make sure that Sleep is checked under the Shutdown settings.
  • Afterward, click on Save changes.

Option 2 – Modify the Local Group Policy

If the Power setting isn’t the cause of the problem, then you might want to check the Local Group Policy and modify it. There is a dedicated policy for showing the sleep option in the power menu and if this policy is disabled, then it’s no wonder why you don’t see the sleep option in the power menu. To change this policy, refer to the steps below.
  • Tap the Win + R keys to open the Run dialog box.
  • Then type “gpedit.msc” in the field and hit Enter to open the Group Policy Editor.
  • Next, navigate to this path: Computer Configuration -> Administrative Templates -> Windows Components -> File Explorer
  • Look for the “Show sleep in the power options menu” option from the right-hand side pane and double click on it.
  • Now change it to Enabled and click on the Apply and OK buttons to save the changes made and restart your computer.

Option 3 – Try to turn on Standby

Standby, also known as InstantGo, is a feature in Windows 8 and 10 that allows users to maintain network connectivity after a computer has been put into sleep mode. Thus, if this feature is disabled, it can cause the Sleep option to disappear from the power menu. To turn it on, follow these steps:
  • Tap the Win + R keys to open Run.
  • And type “Regedit” in the field and tap Enter to open the Registry Editor.
  • Next, navigate to this path: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetControlPower
  • From this path, look for the “CsEnabled” key on the right-hand side of the pane and double-click on it.
  • Set its value to “1” and click OK to save the changes made.
  • Now reboot your PC.
Note: If you were not able to find the CsEnabled key, then this indicates that your computer does not support the Standby feature. And if that’s the case, proceed to the next given option below.

Option 4 – Try to install a Video Card driver

On the other hand, some users reported that the problem was caused by the video card driver. And if your computer lacks the video adapter driver, it can also cause the same problem. Windows 10 typically install the video card driver on its own, however, there are rare cases when it doesn’t which is why you have to do it yourself manually. All you have to do is go to your manufacturer’s website and look for the video card driver, download it and then install it. Once you’ve installed the video card driver, reboot your computer and check if it has fixed the problem.

How to Turn On or Off Tailored Experiences
In this post, you will be guided on how you can turn on or turn off the Tailored Experiences feature in Windows 10 using three methods – via Settings, Registry Editor, and Group Policy Editor. The Tailored Experiences feature in Windows 10 helps Microsoft in delivering recommendations about Microsoft Products. The diagnostic data that comes with it allows Microsoft to know about its consumers’ experiences as well as collect feedback. To simply put it, tailored experiences are personalized tips, ads, and recommendations that enhance Microsoft products and services for consumer needs. And when you enable this feature, Windows will collect information from your browser, apps, features, and many more. After collecting information, it will offer contents that are tailored based on the data gathered on the lock screen of your computer, Windows tips, and other related functions. On the other hand, the diagnostic data is the one that allows Microsoft to get feedback from the customer. So if you’ve noticed some prompts when you use Windows that ask you about the experience, that’s actually a part of the diagnostic data. A lot of users find this feature useful. However, there are also skeptical ones that don’t share the same sentiments. If you are one of the skeptical ones, you actually have the option to turn this feature off if you do not want Microsoft to show ads, recommendations, and so on. It is also recommended that you enable the Diagnostic Data collection as you can choose to delete any collected data, as well as control the feedback frequency from Automatic to Once a day, or once a week, or to never. As mentioned, there are three methods you can choose from to either turn on or turn off Tailored Experiences. You can do it via Settings, Registry Editor, and the Group Policy Editor. To get started, follow the options provided below.

Option 1 – via Settings

To turn on or off Tailored Experiences using Settings, refer to these steps:
  • Go to Settings and here, click on Privacy.
  • Next, go to Diagnostic and Feedback.
  • From there, toggle off the control under the Tailored experiences option to turn it off or toggle it on, if you want to turn it on.

Option 2 – via Registry Editor

To turn on or off Tailored Experiences via Registry Editor, follow the steps below.
  • Tap the Win + R keys to open the Run dialog box and type “Regedit” in the field and then tap Enter to open the Registry Editor.
  • Next, navigate to this registry path: HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionPrivacy
  • After that, look for the DWORD named “TailoredExperiencesWithDiagnosticDataEnabled” and change its value to 0 if you want to turn it off or 1 if you want to turn it on.

Option 3 – via Group Policy Editor

To turn on or off Tailored Experiences using the Group Policy Editor, here’s what you have to do:
  • Tap the Win + R keys to open the Run prompt and type “gpedit.msc” in the field and hit Enter to open the Group Policy Editor.
  • Next, navigate to this policy setting: User ConfigurationAdminstrative TemplatesWindows ComponentsCloud Content
  • Here, double click on the “Do not use diagnostic data for tailored experiences” option and select Enabled. Once you do that, you will see the following description:
“This policy setting lets you prevent Windows from using diagnostic data to provide tailored experiences to the user. If you enable this policy setting, Windows will not use diagnostic data from this device (this data may include browser, app, and feature usage, depending on the “diagnostic data” setting value) to customize the content shown on the lock screen, Windows tips, Microsoft consumer features, and other related features. If these features are enabled, users will still see recommendations, tips, and offers, but they may be less relevant. If you disable or do not configure this policy setting, Microsoft will use diagnostic data to provide personalized recommendations, tips, and offers to tailor Windows for the user’s needs and make it work better for them. This setting does not control Cortana tailored experiences, since there are separate policies to configure it.”

DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_BAD_CONFIG error in Chrome
If you always use Google Chrome when browsing the internet, then you might have come across an error saying, “This webpage is not available, DNS PROBE FINISHED BAD CONFIG”. If you do, then this problem certainly has something to do with the DNS since any error code which has “DNS” in it points out a network issue in the computer. Getting the DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_BAD_CONFIG error indicates that your computer is not able to connect the website because the Domain Name Server or DNS wasn’t able to resolve the website name into IP address or it is not available at all. So in this guide, we’ll help you sort out this issue in Chrome on your Windows 10 PC.

Option 1 – Check the Network Cables and restart your router then reconnect

The most obvious thing you can do first is to try checking if the network cables connected to your computer or router are properly connected or not. If it turns out that some network cables are not connected properly, then it’s probably why you’re getting the DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_BAD_CONFIG error in Chrome. And if your computer is connected via Wi-Fi, you need to make sure to restart your router once. In addition, you can also forget the Wi-Fi your computer is currently connected to and then try reconnecting again to see if it would work.

Option 2 – Flush the DNS and reset TCP/IP

Flushing the DNS and reset TCP/IP could also help in fixing the DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_BAD_CONFIG error in Chrome. To do so, refer to these steps:
  • Click the Start button and type in “command prompt” in the field.
  • From the search results that appear, right-click on Command Prompt and select the “Run as administrator” option.
  • After opening Command Prompt, you have to type each one of the commands listed below. Just make sure that after you type each command, you hit Enter
    • ipconfig /release
    • ipconfig /all
    • ipconfig /flushdns
    • ipconfig /renew
    • netsh int ip set dns
    • netsh winsock reset
After you key in the commands listed above, the DNS cache will be flushed and the Winsock, as well as the TCP/IP, will reset.

Option 3 – Try to remove the Proxy

You can also try to remove the Proxy as it might also help you in fixing the DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_BAD_CONFIG error. Here’s how you can do it:
  • Tap the Win + R keys to open the Run dialog box.
  • Then type “inetcpl.cpl” in the field and hit Enter to pull up the Internet Properties.
  • After that, go to the Connections tab and select the LAN settings.
  • From there. Uncheck the “Use a Proxy Server” option for your LAN and then make sure that the “Automatically detect settings” option is checked.
  • Now click the OK and the Apply buttons.
  • Restart your PC.
Note: If you are using a third-party proxy service, you have to disable it.

Option 4 – Change the DNS

Try to use the Google Public DNS If the first option didn’t work, you can try to use the Public DNS by Google and see if it can help fix the DNS error. You have to modify the DNS settings in your system explicitly and use the DNS IP addresses.
  • The first thing you have to do is right-click on the network icon in the Taskbar and select Network and Sharing Center.
  • Next, click on the “Change Adapter Settings” option.
  • After that, search for the network connection that you are using to connect to the internet. Note that the option might be “Wireless Connection” or “Local Area Connection”.
  • Right-click on your network connection and click on Properties.
  • Then select the new window to choose the “Internet Protocol 4 (TCP/IPv4)” option.
  • After that, click on the Properties button and click the checkbox in the new window for the option “Use the following DNS server addresses”.
  • Type in “8.8.8” and “8.8.4.4” and click OK and exit.

Option 5 – Clear Chrome’s browsing data

If your browsing data in Chrome hasn’t been cleared for some time now then that might be the reason why you’re suddenly getting the DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_BAD_CONFIG error when you browse the web. To fix this error, you need to clear your web browsing data. Refer to the following steps to do so.
  • Tap the Ctrl + Shift + Delete buttons to go to the Clear browsing data section in Chrome.
  • Next, set the time range to “All time” and tick all the boxes and then click on the Clear data button.
  • After that, restart the Chrome browser and try to open the website you were trying to open earlier.

Option 6 – Try running the Chrome Cleanup tool

In case you don’t know, there is actually a built-in malware scanner and cleanup tool in Chrome that helps you get rid of any unwanted ads, pop-ups, and even malware, as well as unusual startup pages, toolbars, and other things that could affect the performance of the browser.

Rapid Media Converter Removal from Windows

Rapid Media Converter is a Potentially Unwanted Program that usually comes bundled with other unwanted software. Many users reported being unaware they had installed the application. It also generates additional advertising, and for this reason, it is classified as Adware and flagged for optional removal by several AVs.

From the Author: Howard Software / Applon runs off an ad-supported platform. During general internet usage on sites where Applon Support operates, users may see advertisements in form of shopping results and new tabs. The type of ad is dependent on the content of the page as you generally browse the internet. Applon is not related to or endorsed by the underlying website. These advertisements will be identified with the Applon Name or Logo.

About Browser Hijackers

Adware is programs created to show advertisements on users’ PCs with or without their consent. A kind of malware, it comes bundled up with the software application that a person either installs or accesses. Shareware or free software programs are generally packaged with adware. When adware penetrates your computer without you knowing and transfers information about you or your PC to 3rd parties, then it happens to be spyware. Other sorts of adware might take control of your internet browser and redirects you to websites that you don’t really want to check out. Adware is a common problem in most computer systems and these are really detrimental to your device. Adware/Spyware is usually downloaded and/or installed accidentally by users while exploring the net and people face lots of difficulties at the same time when it comes to removing adware from their computers. Adware could be dangerous for computer users in numerous ways. It could cause advertisements (popups, ad banners, and in-text) to show up constantly when you’re online or perhaps disrupt your computer experience when not connected to the net. When infected with adware for a long time, your computer will perform at slow processing speed, take a longer time to start up and shut down, easily get frozen up while loading websites, and even get the blue screen of death (BSOD). More often than not, adware is a legitimate revenue source for many companies that offer software to customers at zero cost. But adware generated advertisements tends to be more aggressive than normal ads which can greatly impair system performance or possibly result in a total crash. The adware will damage your PC should you allow it on your personal computer for a long period. A sensible way to block adware from corrupting your PC is to employ a reliable antimalware program such as Safebytes Anti-Malware on your computer. This software will give complete all-around protection to make sure that your laptop or computer doesn’t get infected again with spyware and adware. Take the following measures to prevent adware from overtaking your system: Downloading software online should come from trustworthy websites and also be selective about what you install on your computer; Always read the end-user license agreement (EULA) of any application you plan to install; Beware of clickable ads particularly those that advertise special deals, coupons, or any other suspicious deals.; Avoid installing toolbars, because toolbars from less reputable websites always contain adware, which might slow your PC and in some cases infect your computer outright.

What to Do if Malware Stops You From Downloading Antivirus?

Every malware is bad and the extent of the damage will vary greatly with regards to the type of infection. Certain malware goes to great lengths to prevent you from installing anything on your computer system, especially antivirus software. So what you should do when malware prevents you from downloading or installing Anti-Malware? There are a few fixes you could try to get around with this particular obstacle. Start Windows in Safe ModeIf any virus is set to load immediately when Windows starts, getting into Safe Mode may block the attempt. Since just the minimum programs and services launch in Safe Mode, there are hardly any reasons for conflicts to happen. Listed here are the steps you have to follow to start into the Safe Mode of your Windows XP, Vista, or 7 computers (visit Microsoft website for instructions on Windows 8 and 10 PCs). 1) At power-on/startup, tap the F8 key in one-second intervals. This should bring up the Advanced Boot Options menu. 2) Use the arrow keys to select Safe Mode with Networking and hit ENTER. 3) As soon as this mode loads, you should have the internet. Now, make use of your web browser normally and go to https://safebytes.com/products/anti-malware/ to download and install Safebytes Anti-Malware. 4) Following installation, do a complete scan and allow the software program to delete the threats it detects.

Obtain the anti-malware software using an alternate browser

Some malware only targets specific web browsers. If this is your situation, utilize another browser as it could circumvent the computer virus. If you appear to have a trojan attached to Internet Explorer, then switch to an alternate web browser with built-in security features, such as Firefox or Chrome, to download your preferred anti-malware program – Safebytes.

Create a bootable USB anti-virus drive

Here’s another solution which is using a portable USB antivirus software that can scan your computer for malware without the need for installation. Adopt these measures to run the anti-virus on the affected computer system. 1) On a clean computer, download and install Safebytes Anti-Malware. 2) Connect the USB flash drive to a USB slot on the clean computer. 3) Double-click on the downloaded file to run the installation wizard. 4) Choose the USB flash drive as the destination for saving the software file. Follow the on-screen instructions to finish the installation. 5) Transfer the USB drive from the uninfected computer to the infected computer. 6) Double-click the EXE file to open the Safebytes program from the thumb drive. 7) Click on the “Scan Now” button to begin the malware scan.

Fix Defender, The Threat Service has stopped
There are times when you see a message in Windows Defender saying, “The Threat Services has stopped, Restart it now” when you try to use it. This kind of error is usually fixed by simply clicking on the Restart now button. However, if the error still appears even after you restart your computer and you see another message that says, “Unexpected error, Sorry, we ran into a problem”, then continue reading as this post will guide you in resolving this issue in Windows Defender. Before you proceed with the given fixes below, you have to create a System Restore point first. This way, you can always undo any changes you’ve made in case something goes wrong.

Option 1 – Make sure that the Windows Defender Services are started

The Windows Defender Advanced Threat Protection service is the one that protects your computer from advanced threats by monitoring and reporting security events that happen on your computer. This is why you have to make sure that this, as well as other required services in Windows Defender, are set to their default values and are started. To do so, follow these steps:
  • In the Cortana search box, type “services” and click on the Services icon to open the Services Manager. Alternatively, you can also tap the Win + R keys to launch the Run prompt and then type “services.msc” in the field and hit Enter to open the Services Manager
  • After opening the Services Manager, look for the following services and make sure that their Startup type is set to their default values:
    • Windows Defender Advanced Threat Protection Service – Manual
    • Windows Defender Antivirus Network Inspection Service – Manual
    • Windows Defender Antivirus Service – Manual
    • Windows Defender Firewall Service – Automatic
  • You can right-click on each one of the listed services and then select Start to start them.
  • And if some of the services don’t have their default values, just double-click on the Services to change the Startup types and select the correct option from the drop-down menu of the Startup type under the Properties box.
  • Next, set up the Startup type of these services to Automatic and then click on the Start button if the services are not running yet.
  • Now click on the Apply and OK buttons to save the changes made and then see if it fixed the problem or not.

Option 2 – Try modifying some entries in the Windows Registry

If the first option didn’t work in fixing the problem, you can try to alter some entries in the Windows Registry using the Registry Editor.
  • First, tap Win + R keys to open the Run dialog box.
  • Then type “Regedit” in the field and hit Enter to open the Registry Editor.
  • Next, navigate to this registry path: HKLMSoftwarePoliciesMicrosoftWindows Defender
  • From there, look for the “DisabledAntivirus” and “DisableAntiSpyware” DWORDS from the right pane and change each one of their values to “0”. On the other hand, if you don’t see any of these DWORDS, you can create them instead and give each one of them a 0 value.
  • To create a DWORD, simply right-click on any empty space and select New > DWORD. Then name them both as “DisabledAntivirus” and “DisableAntiSpyware”.
  • Afterward, set the value of the newly-created DWORDS to 0.
  • Now exit the Registry Editor and reboot your PC to apply the changes made and then check if it has fixed the error in Windows Defender or not.
