Although it’s understandable that you might have to use a VPN connection to connect to the work network, you really have to disable it at least until the Windows Update is no longer stuck in the error 0x800F0922. The System Reserved partition is a part of the hard disk created when Windows is first installed on it. It is where the Boot Configuration Database, Boot Manager Code, Windows Recovery Environment, and the reserves space for the startup files are stored. • Tap the Win + R keys to open the Run utility and copy this address in the field: %AppData%MicrosoftWindowsRecent
• Next, tap the Ctrl + A keys to select all the items and then tap the Shift + Delete keys simultaneously.
• After that, a prompt will appear where you have to click on Yes. This will delete all the recently opened files in the File Explorer the next time you open it.

Option 2 – Disable the feature via Control Panel

The next option you can try to disable the feature is via Control Panel. Refer to these steps to do so:

• First, click on the Start Menu button and select the Settings icon.
• After that, click on Personalization and then on Start located on the left pane.
• Next, scroll down until you see the “Show recently opened items” in Jump Lists on the Start or the Taskbar and click on it and then toggle it off.

Option 3 – Disable the feature using the Group Policy Editor

If you are using the Windows 10 Pro version, then you have access to edit the functions in the Group Policy. The Group Policy function has the option that can disable all the default services of Windows 10. Note that in this step, you will permanently disable the “Recently Opened Files” feature. So before you proceed, make sure that you really want to disable this feature permanently and not in the meantime.

• Tap the Win + R keys to open the Run dialog box and type “gpedit.msc” in the field and click OK or tap Enter to open the Group Policy Editor.
• Next, on the left side pane, click on the “User Configuration” option and then click the “Administrative Templates” option.
• After that, select the “Start Menu and Taskbar” option and select the “Don’t keep the history of recently opened documents” option in the right pane.
• Now double click on this option and check the “Enabled” option and then click on Apply and OK buttons to save the changes made.

If you connected your Hard Disk, USB, or SD card to your Windows 10 computer and you suddenly encounter an error that says, “Windows was unable to repair the drive”, read on as this post will help you fix the problem. • In the Windows Search box, type “command prompt” and from the search results, right-click on Command Prompt and select “Run as administrator”.
• After opening Command Prompt, type this command and tap Enter: chkdsk <Partition Letter>: /f
• The command you entered will start to check for errors and fix them automatically. Else, it will throw an error message saying, “Chkdsk cannot run because the volume is in use by another process. Would you like the schedule this volume to be checked the next time the system restarts? (Y/N)”.
• Tap the Y key to schedule Disk Check the next time your computer restarts.

Option 2 – Restart your computer in a Clean Boot State

There are some instances that some conflicting programs installed in your computer might be the one that triggers the “Windows was unable to repair the drive” error to appear when you connect your external drive or run the CHKDSK utility. To identify which program is causing the problem, you need to put your computer in a Clean Boot State. To do so, follow the steps below.

• Log onto your PC as an administrator.
• Type in MSConfig in the Start Search to open the System Configuration utility.
• From there, go to the General tab and click “Selective startup”.
• Clear the “Load Startup items” check box and make sure that the “Load System Services” and “Use Original boot configuration” options are checked.
• Next, click the Services tab and select the “Hide All Microsoft Services” check box.
• Click Disable all.
• Click on Apply/OK and restart your PC. (This will put your PC into a Clean Boot State. And configure Windows to use the usual startup, just simply undo the changes.)
• Once your computer has restarted in a Clean Boot State, perform your scan again and see if it now works, and then start to isolate the problem by checking which one of the programs you installed recently is the root cause of the problem.

After Plex, DoorDash, and LastPass, Samsung has also confirmed that they also have experienced a data breach and that some customer data has been stolen.

On Friday, September 2nd Samsung announced that an unauthorized third party gained access to some of the company's U.S. systems in late July and that Samsung learned in August that some personal information was affected. Recently, a number of users reported that they were not able to run PLEX and other similar streaming services ever since a Windows Update was automatically installed in the system. The error in these streaming services has something to do with a missing Mfplat.dll DLL file from the Windows Media Feature Pack. On the other hand, some users also reported that the mfplat.dll error occurred on several games as well which used the Media Feature Pack. Option 1 – Install the Media Feature Pack for Windows 10 N version

As mentioned, the Windows 10 N version does not come with Windows Media Player. Meaning to say, the Media Feature Pack is also not installed by default or won’t be updated by the Windows Update component. So if you are not quite sure what Windows 10 version you currently have installed, refer to these steps:

• Tap the Windows key + S and then type “about” in the search box.
• From the search results, click on the “About your PC” to open the About tab of the Settings app.
• Afterward, scroll down to the Windows specifications and check your Windows version under Edition.

Note: If you’ve determined that your computer is using the Windows 10 N version, you need to install the appropriate Media Feature Pack for your computer. How? Refer to the steps below:

• Click this link to download and install the Media Feature Pack from Microsoft’s official website.
• Upon installation, select the edition you want to install using the drop-down menu and then click on Confirm. Take note that there are few reasons why you’d want to install the older version since most streaming services like PLEX and most games usually require version 1803.
• After that, wait until the request is validated. The download should begin in a few minutes automatically.
• Once the download is completed, open the installation executable file and follow the next on-screen instructions to install the Media Feature Pack on your computer.
• Restart your computer. After your computer has rebooted, open the application where you’re getting the mfplat.dll missing error and then check if the problem is now fixed.

Option 2 – Enable Media Playback via Command Prompt

If you encounter the mfplat.dll missing error when you attempt to run PLEX or other similar streaming service and you’ve already verified that the Media Feature Pack is indeed installed, you might want to try enabling it using an elevated Command Prompt. There are cases when a particular Windows Update ends up disabling the feature and creates the grounds which results in the mfplat.dll missing error. Thus, you can have to enable the feature via Command Prompt.

• Tap the Win + R keys to open the Run dialog box.
• Then type “cmd” in the field and hit Enter to open an elevated Command Prompt.
• Next, click on Yes if a User Account Control prompt pops up.
• After opening Command Prompt, copy and paste the following command and hit Enter to execute it:

dism /online /enable-feature /featurename:MediaPlayback

• Close Command Prompt and then open the app once again to check if the problem is now fixed.

Option 3 – Try extracting a copy of the mfplat.dll file from the windows.old directory

If you encounter the error shortly after you just upgraded to Windows 10 from an older version, the best thing you can do to resolve the problem is to use windows.old directory to fetch an old copy of the mfplat.dll file. To do so, follow the steps below.

• Go to the Windows drive and then look for the windows.old directory where it preserves a copy of your old operating system as well as associated files in case something goes out of hand during the upgrade process.
• After that, open the windows.old folder and then go to the syswow64 folder.
• Next, from the syswow64 folder, copy the mfplat.dll file and paste it to C: windows syswow64.
• Restart your computer and check if the error is now resolved or not.

• Tap the Win + X + M combination on your keyboard to open the Device Manager.
• After that, look for the Intel Rapid Storage Technology driver, right-click on it and then select Uninstall.
• Now restart your computer for the changes to take effect.

Note: You might also have to go to the list of installed programs and uninstall a program that is listed as “Intel Rapid Storage Technology driver”. To do so, refer to these steps:

• In the Cortana Search box, type “control panel” and from the search results that appear, click on Control Panel.
• After opening Control Panel, select Programs > Programs and Features which will open the list of installed programs on your computer.
• From there, look for Intel Rapid Storage Technology and uninstall it.

Option 2 – Try to disable the IAStorDataSvc via Services Manager

• Tap the Win + R keys to open the Run dialog box.
• Then type “services.msc” in the field and hit Enter to open Services.
• Next, look for the Intel Rapid Storage Technology services from the list of services and then double-click it.
• Then change its Startup type to “Disabled”.
• After that click on the Apply button and then OK to save the changes made.
• Now exit the Services window and check if the problem’s resolved.

3. Fix via Command prompt

   If both of the beforementioned solutions fail, try running the command prompt and fix the issue from there. Press ⊞ WINDOWS + X to open the hidden menu in Windows and click on Command Prompt (administrator) In command prompt type next line and press ENTERDEL /F /S /Q /A “C:\Windows\System32\drivers\mfewfpk.sys Reboot the system

4. Scan your PC for malware

   Sometimes corruption in the system is caused by malware, Scan your system for malware, viruses, etc.

5. Check connections or other hardware issues

   If all methods fail, open your PC case and check to see if connections everywhere are properly connected and tight. Clean your PC and turn it back ON

6. Use system restore

   If anything fails, use Windows system restore and bring back computer into a state where everything was working fine.

Sometimes sadly updates to our operating systems can introduce us to various issues that look scary but in reality, they are solvable and not so scary at all. After all who would not find this message concerning, especially when it happens in the middle of work. The first thing that would pop into my mind is that I have lost tons of work and that something in my hardware has gone very wrong and it is dead. Luckily that is not the case and this error means that due to Windows update drivers were not properly transferred due to some compatibility issues, maybe it was a corrupt update file, etc. Of course, the reason could be hardware malfunction as well, but if everything was working fine before the update, it is a software issue, and I must say it is a common one and fixable. Please keep reading this guide in order to fix the Device not migrated error.

1. Update the Driver

   You should always try this first, if the device is not recognizable, try updating its driver and see if the problem vanishes. In order to update the driver, we will need first to locate which device has not been migrated properly, we will do this with help of a search engine on the internet like google for example. So open your browser of choice, go to a search engine (google for example) and type in the search box first line from your error message, yes, that scary one. You will be given which device has malfunctioned and was not migrated properly, now we will locate the device and update its drivers. To do this press WINDOWS + X on your keyboard to bring up Windows secret menu and choose device manager. Find device inside device manager, right-click on it, and choose properties. Go to the events tab and make sure that the device has migration issues. You have now 3 options for updating the driver, you can do it manually, automatically, or with the driver installer. We will cover all 3 options so you choose which one best suits you. OPTION 1: Manually. Close the Properties tab, go to the device manufacturer website and download the latest driver, if there are no drivers there, the only executable installer for the device skip this step and try the other 2. After you have downloaded the driver package from the website, right-click on the device and choose update driver. Now navigate to the folder where you have downloaded your driver package and update the driver. Reboot your system. OPTION 2: Automatic update. Close the Properties tab, right-click on the device and choose to uninstall. Once the device is uninstalled, restart your system, and Windows will automatically search and install the latest driver for the device. OPTION 3: Via driver installer. If you have downloaded .EXE or executable driver installer from device manufacturers web site try installing it, if the installation fails, try using compatibility mode for the installer. Navigate where the installer is located, right-click on it, and choose properties. Go to compatibility TAB and try installing it with administrator privileges in Windows 8 mode. Reboot your system after this step. This should solve the issues, however, if the issue still persists, follow the next steps.

2. Verify the Corrupted System Files

   Press WINDOWS + X on the keyboard to open the hidden system menu and choose Command prompt (administrator) In the command prompt type in: sfc /scannow and press ENTER. The scanning process and repair of files will take around 15 min. Leave it to finish completely, do not restart, work on the computer or shut it down while the process is active, and only after it is finished reboot your system.

3. Update Windows.

   If your Windows is not updated sometimes this issue can be resolved by updating it on the latest version. Click on start and then on settings. Once the settings screen is opened, find and click on Update and Security. Go to the Windows update tab and click on DOWNLOAD or click on check for updates for the latest Windows fix.

4. Reset BIOS to factory settings.

   Sometimes BIOS not being properly configured can cause issues in Windows itself and prevent it from detecting PnP devices thus creating this error. Restoring BIOS back to the factory setting can help. Turn off your computer and turn it back on. Press delete, f12, f11, or any other key which will take you to BIOS (default key is delete but sometimes manufacturers map this to another one. Once your screen turns ON you will see in the bottom message which key needs to be pressed in order to enter BIOS). Sadly since every BIOS could be different we can not cover step by step guide for each but you need to find the option where you load BIOS defaults, click on it save, and exit. Your computer will restart and boot into Windows, check to see if the problem still persists.

5. Update BIOS

   BIOS can cause issues with certain PnP devices when the newest Windows update is rolled. If reverting BIOS to the factory setting has not been successful try update. Go to your motherboard manufacturer website, find the update and read step by step guide there since updating BIOS differs from version to version and from manufacturer to manufacturer. After the update is done, restart the computer and hopefully, the error is gone.

6. Perform a System Restore

   If everything else fails, perform a system restore to get Windows back into the state before the update was installed and when everything was working fine. Press WINDOWS + R on the keyboard to open the run dialog. In the run dialog, type control panel and press enter to enter control panel, locate recovery and click on it. Inside the recovery screen click on Open System Restore. Choose a date when everything was working in order, the best bet is the date before Windows update and roll it back. Click on date, and then on next.

Error Code 0x8024002e - What is it?

Windows 10 error code 0x8024002e is related to the Windows update service. When you see the error code displayed on your screen, it means that the Windows update service has been blocked or not working. As a result of this error code, your computer might lag and the system may freeze while performing normal operations. The error may read as follows:

Method 2:

Changing Windows Update property to automatic: You might see this error if your Windows update property is set to manual. Follow the steps below to change it to automatic. Open Task Manager.

1. Click on the Services tab. Find “Open Services” at the bottom of the window.
2. A new window will pop up. Scroll down and find “Windows Update” from the list. Double click on the Windows Update. It will open its properties.

Disable Antivirus program: If you have any antivirus installed on your PC, you might need to disable it first and see if that helps. Method 4:

Run inbuilt Windows update troubleshooter. Follow the steps given below:

1. Press Windows + W keys on your keyboard to enable the search option.
2. In the Search box type Troubleshooting.
3. Click on View all
4. Click on Windows update and follow the prompts to run the troubleshooter.

If the issue persists, try Method 5

Method 5:

Run the System File Checker tool (sfc.exe):

1. Open Command prompt.
2. Type sfc /scannow and hit Enter.
3. The sfc /scannow will scan all protected system files and replace corrupted files with a cached copy that is located in a compressed folder at %WinDir%System32dllcache. The %WinDir% has the Windows Operating System folder. For example, C:\Windows.

Do not close the Command prompt window until the verification is 100% complete. The command prompt will show the scan results when it is done. After it is done, you may receive one of the following messages:

“Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations.” This means you do not have any missing or damaged system files.

OR you may receive a message saying:

“Windows Resource Protection could not perform the requested operation.”

To resolve this problem, run the System File Checker in safe mode and make sure that the PendingDeletes and PendingRenames folders exist under %WinDir%WinSxSTemp.

OR you may also receive a message saying, “Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files and successfully repaired them. Details are included in the CBS.Log%WinDir%LogsCBSCBS.log.” OR you may receive a message saying, “Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them. Details are included in the CBS.Log%WinDir%LogsCBSCBS.log.”
