How to choose default applications in Windows

Hello everyone and welcome to another tutorial on errortools.com, Windows itself when it is installed has a general idea about certain file types and how to open them, for example, image files would be opened with application photos, web links with the edge, etc. So when we double click on the known file type, Windows will start the default application for that type and open the file in it. But what if we do not want to open files in applications Microsoft thinks we should? What if we want to open the website in firefox or images in photoshop, or whatever. Luckily we can easily change which application Windows uses for which file type. Click on ⊞ WINDOWS to open the start menu and choose settings.

On right, you will get a list of Windows default applications for certain types of files. Click on any application you would like to change and choose from the drop-down list a new one. Click on it and you are done.

Windows 11 provides several different ways to make your cursor stand out and be easier to spot inside it. You can make the mouse pointer larger, invert it, or change its color.

Press ⊞ WINDOWS + I to open settings
Click on Accessibility in the sidebar
Select Mouse Pointer and Touch
Adjust mouse cursor size with size slider by clicking on circle and dragging it left or right
Under Mouse Pointer Style pick desired style from White, Black, Inverted, and Custom
1. White: The cursor is white with a black outline (standard setting)
2. Black: Cursor is black with a white outline
3. Inverted: Cursor automatically changes color to an inverted version of the color it is currently hovering over
4. Custom: You can pick the color for the cursor that you want.

And that is all about it, once you are done with pointer customization just close settings, all changes are saved automatically.

Add names of applications in the taskbar

From larger things to smaller ones nowadays you can almost personalize every detail of Windows itself. In this article, we will tackle how to bring back the names of running applications on the taskbar. Placing names beside icons on the taskbar is a pretty simple and straightforward task easily done. First, right-click the Taskbar and select Taskbar settings. In Taskbar settings, click the menu labeled Combine taskbar buttons. Select Never. That's it, now all of your running applications have a name beside them. If you change your mind, you can always undo it by selecting Always hide labels in the Combine taskbar buttons menu.
