Opening control panel

First thing is to press ⊞ WINDOWS + R on your keyboard so the run dialog window pops up on your desktop. Once run dialog is shown type in it control panel as shown in the picture and press OK If you have followed the steps precisely, you should be now in the control panel of Windows 10. Click on the top-right view and choose large icons. The Control panel will switch to a grid-like view, in the current view go to the far-right and almost bottom icon where it says User Accounts and click on it.

User account settings

Once the user account opens click on the bottom link which says Change User Account Control settings. Error code 8024001F is easily corrected using one of the following methods. Each of these methods should be convenient and comfortable for a basic computer user at home. Method 1- Access the Troubleshooter

1. Access the Windows Update Troubleshooter
2. When the dialog box pops up, click OK.
3. Click NEXT on the following dialog box.
4. Windows will then run the Troubleshooter, attempting to detect any known issues with your system.
5. Depending upon the results you should be able to follow the on-screen prompts which will alleviate the update issue.

Method 2- Correct your internet connections

Method 3- Adjust the Windows Update settings

1. Log into your current version of Windows as the Administrator (enter a password if prompted).
2. Click the START button on your keyboard or screen.
3. Search for the term “admin”, press ENTER
4. Click the “administrative tools” option
5. Select the “services” file, re-enter your password.
6. Open the Windows Update file by right-clicking on the name.
7. Choose the “properties” option
8. Under the GENERAL tab, make sure that the “startup type:” is set to AUTOMATIC (DELAYED START)
9. Under the “Service Status” header, click the START button.
10. Click OK
11. Restart the Microsoft Windows 10 update.

Method 4- Scan for the Conficker Worm

1. Access the web address to be directed to the Microsoft Safety Scanner.
2. Run this free scanner provided by Microsoft to verify if the Conficker Worm is your issue.
3. If this worm is causing your error, Microsoft will walk you through the steps necessary to remove the worm.

Method 5- Firewall and Anti-Virus software

1. If you are using the Windows firewall or a third-party anti-virus and firewall software, disable these programs.
2. Run the Microsoft Windows 10 upgrade.
3. After the upgrade is complete, turn your antivirus and firewall software back on.

• From there, look for the “Universal Serial Bus controllers” option and then right-click on each one of the USB drivers and select the Update Driver from the menu.

Note: If it is a regular USB drive, then it will be listed as a USB Mass Storage Device but if you have a USB 3.0 device, then look for a USB 3.0 Extensible Host Controller.

• Restart your PC and then click the “Search automatically for updated driver software” option.

Note: If updating the USB Controller drivers didn’t work, you can try to reinstall them instead.

Option 3 – Try to change the PIN of the security key

If the first two options didn’t work, you can try changing the PIN of the security key. There are instances when the PIN for the security key might have been corrupted. Thus, resetting it can help you resolve the problem.

Option 4 – Temporarily disable Firewall and third-party antivirus

Firewall and antivirus programs are known to block the proper functioning of the USB security key. Thus, your antivirus or firewall programs might be the reason why you can’t download anything on your Windows 10 computer. To isolate the issue, you need to temporarily disable both the Firewall and antivirus programs and then check if you can now download anything from the internet. Do not forget to enable them again as disabling them can leave your computer vulnerable to cyber threats.

Option 5 – Try to troubleshoot the web browser

Troubleshooting your web browser can also help you fix the USB security key problem. You can do that by checking if your web browser supports the security key and you can do that by checking on the official website of your browser. You can also try to update your web browser to its latest version but if it didn’t help, you can try to reinstall it or switch to another web browser.

And sometimes we do not even have drivers from where to download them, let's say for example you have purchased a second-hand laptop with Windows on it, you wish to create a clean and fresh copy of new Windows installation but you do not have drivers, and let us say the model is not supported so you can not download them. In this case, this shown method will help you a ton and save you a lot of time and frustration. So, in order to back all of your drivers from your Windows follow this simple guide step by step. Note please that this method will backup drivers themselves, you will not backup installation packages of drivers or similar stuff, only drivers installed in Windows itself.

Backing up the drivers

First thing first, create a folder where you want your drivers to be backed up somewhere in your HD and give it any name. Second, press ⊞ WINDOWS + X to open the secret Windows menu. From the menu choose Command Prompt (administrator) When the command prompt is active type the next command in it: DISM /online /export-driver /destination:C:\DriverBackup where: C:\DriverBackup is the folder and the hard drive where you want to store your backed-up drivers. Press ENTER That's it, you have now successfully backed-up all of your installed Windows drivers. Now, save all of your drivers on USB and reinstall Windows.

In order to now return backed drivers do the following:

Press again ⊞ WINDOWS + X to open the secret Windows menu. but this time choose Device manager From decide, manager right-click on any device Windows has not been able to install appropriate driver and choose update driver

• Click on the Browse my computer for driver software option.
• Click the Browse button.
• Select the folder with the driver backup.
• Check the Include subfolders option.
• Click the Next button.
• Click the Close button.
