As a digital creation of Blueis, the DownloadAdmin application peruses your computer system for programs/applications that are outdated. This program then makes the necessary updates/installation on your computer, as if it were the Administrator. While most people might consider this application harmful, scrutinizing the Digital Publisher/Creator of the application should be reason enough to remove DownloadAdmin (and any other associated program) from your computer. Why? Blueis is infamous for producing/distributing “adware type software”, according to herdProtect Anti-Malware. Is that not a plausible reason for you to remove applications associated with that publisher? Additionally, DownloadAdmin not only updates your outdated applications, but it installs additional programs - usually utility tools and search toolbars. This is a sly way to promote third-party software and to get ads loaded onto your computer system.

Assessment of DownloadAdmin
For this assessment, the DownloadAdmin file was obtained and installed on a test computer. After the DownloadAdmin/Updateadmin application was installed, it made several modifications to the computer system. These modifications may class the newly installed file as a PUP (potentially unwanted program). Outlined below is what took place after the file was installed.
Updated an outdated application installed on the computer
Subsequent to the update made by Updateadmin, I thought the PUP had run its course. However, it was not quite finished. It was after scanning the contents/programs of my Local Drive, I stumbled on an additional program, one that I did not download or install, at least not intentionally. As predicted, the DownloadAdmin application scanned through the computer system (in the blink of an eye), during installation and made adjustments to an application already installed. This program was the Mozilla Firefox. Since Mozilla Firefox was rarely used on the PC in question, the DownloadAdmin application thought it quite appropriate to revive the Mozilla Firefox browser, by replacing it with the latest or more contemporary version.
Installed a search toolbar
While DownloadAdmin did request permission to install an updated version of my Browser, it provided no warning about installing a search toolbar. This is quite shady and deceptive. In addition to updating the Internet Browser, DownloadAmin also installed the SearchProtect toolbar (Conduit). This toolbar is no stranger to the market as I’ve encountered it on several occasions during my assessment of malware.
Should you remove DownloadAmin?
That decision is totally yours to make. However, here are some reasons why most people would consider that program unwanted
It updates your outdated programs
In most cases, at least those I’ve seen, if a user has a program installed, they don’t necessarily want a new version of that program. In fact, this PUP could spell trouble since some programs, especially paid, require a license to use the software. When that program is updated/ upgraded, you might have to acquire a new license to get it to work.
Unnecessary program
If you’re totally lackadaisical and loathe the idea of doing work yourself, this program might come in handy. Many users will update their computers manually by using Microsoft’s preinstalled/pre-programmed updater in their computer’s Control Panel. This option searches for and installs all the necessary programs to keep your computer safe and secure. The DownloadAdmin program only occupies needed space and resources on your computer. However, what’s good about this program is that it doesn’t operate at the start time so it doesn’t necessarily cause unnecessary lags on your computer.
Modifies your search experience
By installing a search toolbar called SearchProtect, Updateadmin modifies or changes the browsing experience you’re accustomed to. SearchProtect hijacks your browser and changes your homepage to their choice while removing yours. This is often hard to reverse since the publisher created this software to remain once installed.

The Google Chrome browser checks the SSL Security Certificate of the website that you are trying to open. However, if Chrome is not able to check the certificate then you might encounter an error related to the SSL Certificates which you might face when browsing the web. This particular error is the ERR BAD SSL CLIENT AUTH CERT error which is caused by many factors such as the computer’s Time, Cached Data is corrupt, Date is out of sync, as well as third party software installed in your computer is the one that’s blocking the site and many more.
The ERR_BAD_SSL_CLIENT_AUTH_CERT error might also be coming from the website’s end. It could be that the server is rejecting the certificate the client website is sending. Option 2 – Try clearing the browser data
There are times when some data in the browser is conflicting with the loading of the website and triggers errors like ERR_BAD_SSL_CLIENT_AUTH_CERT. And so you can try to clear your browser’s data. This might be a very basic solution but oftentimes it works in fixing this kind of error in Google Chrome. Follow the steps below to clear the data in your browser.
Open your Google Chrome browser.
After that, tap the Ctrl + H keys. Doing so will open a new panel that allows you to delete the browsing history and other data in your browser.
Now select every checkbox that you see and click on the Clear browsing data button.
Then restart your Chrome browser and check if you can now open any website or not.
Option 3 – Try to check and fix any possible conflicts with third-party programs
Third-party programs like internet protection software could be interrupting the connection and causing the error. For some unknown reason, your antivirus program or firewall might be detecting the webpage you are trying to open as malicious or with less credibility which is why it is blocking the browser from opening the website. To fix that, if you have third-party programs installed like VPN, security software, or any add-on, or firewall, you can disable them temporarily and see if it fixes the problem and you’re able to pull up the website. After a while, you have to enable them back and configure their settings so that the website won’t get blocked again.
If you were using Google Chrome when you got the ERR_BAD_SSL_CLIENT_AUTH_CERT error, then you need to follow the protocol fixes for SSL3/TLS and QUIC which are usually some of the reasons that cause the SSL version / Cipher Mismatch. It also has a few fixes for Windows 10 computer where you can clear the certificates and make sure that your computer date and time is in sync with your time zone and so on.
If you were using Edge or Internet Explorer when you got the error, then you have to follow the steps below.
Type “Internet” in the search box of your browser. After that, you should see the Internet Options from the search results.
Next, open the Internet Properties window and switch to the Advanced tab and then scroll down to the Security section.
From there, check the “Use TLS 1.1” checkbox as well as the “Use TLS 1.2” checkbox and then click OK to save the changes made.
Restart the browser.
On the other hand, if you were using Firefox when you go the error, here’s what you have to do.
Open Firefox and in the address bar, type “about:config” and hit Enter.
If a warning appears, just click on the “I accept the risk!” button to proceed.
Next, type in “TLS” in the search field and hit Enter.
Then look for “security.tls.version.min” and double click on it and set its integer value to 3 to force the protocol of TLS 1.3.

Option 5 – Try to update Google Chrome
You might also want to try updating your browser to its latest version and have it installed in your computer. After you install the update, check if you can now open the website you were trying to open earlier.
Option 6 – Get rid of any conflicting browser extensions
Open Chrome and press Alt + F keys.
Go to More tools and click Extensions to look for any suspicious browser extensions or toolbars.
Click the Recycle bin and select Remove.
Restart Chrome and press Alt + F keys again.
Proceed to On Startup and mark Open a specific page or set of pages.
To check if the browser hijacker is still active, click Set pages, if it is active, overwrite the URL.
Note: If removing the browser extensions or toolbars didn’t work, you can also try to reset your Google Chrome browser.
Open Google Chrome, then tap the Alt + F keys.
After that, click on Settings.
Next, scroll down until you see the Advanced option, once you see it, click on it.

So what’s phishing exactly, how can you detect it and how can you keep safe?
What is phishing?
Phishing (pronounced like fishing) is a type of cyberattack that tricks the user into trusting the source and revealing sensitive information. Fishing being the perfect analogy, the bait is a legitimate-looking site, e-mail or file and when you take a bite, your identity, banking information and much more can be revealed and stolen.

Some phishing attempts are incredibly obvious, others are super elaborate. Like with most types of malware, cybercriminals have become extremely well-versed in phishing and anyone can fall for it. To help you recognize and avoid it, we’ll take you through a couple of phishing types and give you tips on what to do if faced with them.
Phishing techniques
E-mail phishing
This is actually the most common type of phishing. A cybercriminal creates an e-mail containing stuff like attractive offers, legitimate-looking attachments or links and makes it appear as though it’s coming from a trusted source.

For example, it looks like it’s coming from your bank or your favorite retailer. The logo looks legit and the structure of the e-mail seems familiar, so you might get tricked into clicking on whatever clickable content is in it.
Unfortunately this exposes your device to malware that hands your data off to the hacker, who can decide what to do with it further.
SMS and social media phishing
Like the above example, you could be approached with lucrative offers or links via text messages or social media messages. Typically, the messages seem relevant to the user as they will be made to look like they’re related to apps or services you’re using.
Voice phishing
Voice phishing attacks are schemes that appear as though they’re coming from a credible number. Normally, you’ll get a call about something related to credit cards or taxes to get you into a state of worry, leading you to disclose personal information on the phone.
Spear phishing, whaling and BEC
Spear phishing normally targets specific individuals within a company who are likely to have access to sensitive data. Spear phishers spend time collecting information they can use to reach out to the individual looking as trustworthy as possible. They’ll typically lead with something relevant, for example mentioning an upcoming company event, and make a seemingly legitimate request.
Whaling is a more elaborate form of spear phishing, which targets people in even stronger positions such as executives or high-value individuals. The ultimate goal is to get them to transfer financial or other sensitive information that can be used to compromise the entire business.

BEC, or Business e-mail compromise, is a specific spear phishing technique carried out via e-mail. While there are many ways this is done, most commonly you’ll see instances where the phisher poses as a CEO or similar executive, or as a lower-level employee in specific positions (e.g. sales managers or financial controllers).
In the first situation, the impersonator reaches out to employees requesting them to transfer certain files or pay invoices. In the second situation, the phisher takes control of the employee’s e-mail account and sends false instructions to other employees in order to obtain data and information from them.
What can you do?
There are many ways you can be aware and spot a phishing attempt. Here are some tips:
Always check the sender’s address in your e-mails, even when they seem to come from a familiar source.
In any instance where payment information is requested, be very, very careful.
If you are receiving attachments you never asked for and definitely didn’t expect, better not click on them.
Beware of content that transmits a sense of urgency (sales deals, urgent updates to login credentials, etc.).
Bad spelling and grammar are usually a telltale sign of phishing.
Links that look shortened (e.g. Bit.ly) or just suspicious in general - if you have a bad feeling, do not click on them.
If you are receiving threats, you probably shouldn’t be clicking on anything in that message.
Always examine first-time senders in detail.
Block suspicious e-mail addresses, numbers and social media accounts.
If you are receiving a coupon for free stuff… You aren’t.
If you’re being asked to update your payment details by a service you use, such as Netflix, chances are it’s an impersonator.
Those are some of the ways to identify and prevent phishing attacks. However, sometimes phishers disguise themselves a little too well or a misclick happens and there you go - you’ve been exposed to malware.

If you suddenly encountered an error that says, “The Task image is corrupt or has been tampered with”, along with an error code of 0x80041321, read on as this post will guide you on what you can do to resolve this problem in your Windows 10 computer. According to security experts, this kind of error has something to do with a corrupt scheduled backup task wherein each time the task service plans to execute a task, it validates a few things. And if it finds any issue with the integrity or corruption in the registry, it will mark those tasks as corrupt and throws the error 0x80041321.
There are several options you can check out to fix the problem. You can try using the Registry Editor to edit and fix the corrupted tasks or you could also delete the schedule keys or the WindowsBackup file, as well as try deleting the task from the Task Scheduler or refresh the User_Feed_Synchronization. But before you of these potential fixes, make sure that you check every option and verify if it’s not associated or trying to run a file which it should not. In addition, make sure that you create a System Restore point as well so that you can undo any changes you will be making if anything goes wrong. Once you have these things covered, refer to each one of the options provided below.
Option 1 – Try to use the Registry Editor to edit and fix corrupted tasks
The first thing you can do to fix the problem is to edit those tasks via Registry Editor, as well as fix the corrupted ones in System32. Before you proceed, keep in mind that since you are dealing with the Backup triggered by the Task Scheduler, you can find the entries for the tasks in different locations. You can find the Task Scheduler at Task Scheduler Library > Microsoft > Windows > Windows Backup, whereas, you can find it in this path in the Registry Editor, HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE SOFTWARE Microsoft Windows NT CurrentVersion Schedule WindowsBackup AutomaticBackup. On the other hand, you can find the Windows System folder at C:/Windows/System32/Tasks/MicrosoftWindows/WindowsBackup. You need to ensure that the name of the task name is the same as everywhere and take note of the name. Once you have these covered, follow the steps below.
Tap the Win + R keys to open Run and type “Regedit” in the field and hit Enter to open the Registry Editor.
Next, navigate to this key: ComputerHKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindows NTCurrentVersionScheduleTaskCacheTreeMicrosoftWindowsWindowsBackup
From there, take note of the GUID value in the ID entry of the task under the AutomaticBackup and Windows Backup Monitor folder.
After that, you have to remove the task registry entries related to the ID from these locations
Once done, you have to create a temporary copy of the corrupted task file by going to this location: C:/Windows/System32/Tasks/MicrosoftWindows/WindowsBackup
From there, look for the AutomaticBackup and Windows Backup Monitor tasks and copy them to a location where you can keep them safe.
Next, you have to fix the corrupted task by deleting it from this location: C:/Windows/System32/Tasks/MicrosoftWindows/WindowsBackup
After that, you have to recreate the task by going to Task Scheduler > Microsoft > Windows> Windows Backup.
Now click on the Action menu and on Import task and navigate to the backup files and import them.
Once you’ve created the tasks, run them manually and see if the error is now fixed.
Option 2 – Try to delete the Schedule keys in the Registry
Launch the Registry Editor and go to this key: HKLMSOFTWAREMicrosoftWindows NTCurrent VersionSchedule
From there, delete all of its sub-keys.
Once done, exit the Registry Editor and check if the Backup Tasks are now working.
Option 3 – Try to remove the WindowsBackup file
The next thing you can do to fix the problem is to remove the WindowsBackup file if the first two options didn’t work. It is possible that the problem has something to do with corrupted Task files. The task files are XML files that include parameters, programs to use, and many more. If any of these files end up getting corrupted, the task scheduler will have trouble running it and will throw the “The Task image is corrupt or has been tampered with” error.
To delete it, go to C:WindowsSystem32TasksMicrosoftWindowsWindowsBackup.
From this location, get rid of all the files. You could also these files via Command Prompt using the DEL command.
Once done, go to the Backup and Restore in the Control Panel and set up the Windows Backup again.
Option 4 – Try to delete the task from the Task Scheduler
If you don’t want to delete the files from Windows Explorer, you can delete them instead via Task Scheduler.
Open the Task Scheduler and go to Task Schedule LibraryMicrosoftWindowsWindowsBackup.
From there, delete both of the tasks and set up Windows Backup again.
Once done, go to the Task Manager and run the AutomaticBackup task again and see if it works.
Option 5 – Try to restart the Task Scheduler service
As mentioned, it is possible that the Task Scheduler service could be disabled. You could have disabled it when trying to enhance your computer’s performance and whatnot. Thus, you need to verify if it’s running or not and then restart it.
First, you need to tap the Win + R keys on your keyboard to open the Run dialog box.
Next, type “services.msc” in the field and click OK or tap Enter to open the Windows Services Manager.
You will see a list of Services and from there, look for the Task Scheduler service and double click on it.
After that, go to the General tab and click on the Startup Type options and then select “Automatically” from the given list.
Click on the “RUN” option and select the “Restart the Service” option.
And click on the “After Second Failure” option and then select the “Restart-Service” option again.
Now click on the “After Subsequent Failures” tab and select the “Restart the Service” option.
Finally, click on the Apply and OK buttons and then run the Task Scheduler and see if the issue is now fixed.
Option 6 – Try refreshing the User_Feed_Synchronization
According to security experts, enabling and disabling the User Feed sync also known as the User_Feed_Synchronization task can help resolve the problem.
Tap the Win + X keys and select the PowerShell (admin) option from the menu.
Next, type the “msfeedssync disable” command and tap Enter.
Repeat the same process but this time run the “msfeedssync enable” command.
As you know, Microsoft constantly releases new updates with the main goal of fixing bugs as well as deliver users with new and exciting features. However, there are times when the latest update comes with an unwanted bug. One of these bugs is an error message saying, “Low Disk Space. You are running out of disk space on Local Disk (G:). Click here to see if you can free space on this drive.” So if you have recently installed a Windows 10 update, then you’ll most likely see a completely new drive on your computer which will appear right after the installation of the update and you’ll also start seeing the aforementioned error message.
It gets irritating as this error message keeps on popping up even if you still have a lot of free space on your other drivers. This bug unhides the recovery partition drive and allocates it a drive letter which is why you are seeing a new drive in your computer. Thus, you can get rid of the pesky error message by simply removing the letter of the new drive. Just remember that you must not delete anything from the recovery partition drive nor format the drive. Formatting or deleting the recovery partition drive can heavily affect the recovery of Windows since the data on the drive is used by the Windows Recovery Environment or your system’s manufacturer.
A lot of users have reported that removing the drive letter has resolved the issue. And if you worry that removing the drive letter will delete the drive, you are mistaken. This solution is basically harmless and is proven effective to make the notifications go away.
Carefully follow the instructions below to get rid of the Low Disk Space notification by removing the drive letter.
Step 1: Tap the Windows key once.
Step 2: Next. In the Windows Start Search, type in “command prompt” and right-click on Command Prompt from the search results and select the “Run as administrator” option or you could simply tap Win + R keys and then input “cmd” and hit Enter to open Command Prompt.
Step 3: After opening Command Prompt, type in “diskpart” and tap Enter.
Step 4: Next, type in “list volume” and tap Enter. After that, you will see a list of drives.
Step 5: Take note of the letter associated with the newly created drive.
Step 6: Afterwards, type in “select volume <drive letter>” and tap Enter. Take note that you must replace the <drive letter> with the drive letter you’ve found in Step 5.
Step 7: Now type in “remove letter=<drive letter>” and then tap Enter. Once again, replace the <drive letter> with the letter you took note of in Step 5.
As you know, Windows 10 comes with a pre-packed feature that allows you to rotate the screen at different angles, and to facilitate this feature, there are keyboard shortcuts you can use as well. However, from time to time, no matter how useful this feature is, users still experience a handful of issues. One of which is that they suddenly find their screen rotated or Upside Down even when they didn’t do a thing or adjust the setting.
You may have pressed the shortcut on the keyboard by accident or some other program changed the setting on your computer without your permission – whichever the case is, this post will show you what you can do to fix the upside-down screen on your Windows 10 PC using the options laid out below.
Option 1 – Try using hotkeys
As mentioned earlier, Windows have hotkeys in the UI that changes the orientation of the display. So the first thing you need to do is to make sure that these hotkeys are enabled and if they are, you can use the keyboard shortcut to adjust the orientation of your screen.
Right-click on an empty part of your Desktop and then select the Graphic options.
Next, select “Hot Keys” > “Enable”. After verifying that the hotkeys are enabled, you can tap the Ctrl + Alt + Up arrow keys to change your computer screen’s orientation.
Alternatively, you can also tap the Ctrl + Alt + Right or Left or Down arrow keys to change the direction the other way.
Option 2 – Try using the Graphics Properties
You will probably see the “Graphics Properties” option if you use the Intel HD Graphics every time you click on your Desktop. Note that this option has all the graphics driver properties and helps you in changing the configurations as well as control several options like refresh rate, resolution, color-depth and many more. You have to navigate to these options to see if the orientation is changed in these properties. To do so, follow the steps below.
Right-click on any empty space on your Desktop and then select Graphics Properties or Intel Graphics Settings.
After that, select Display from the list of sub-options that appears.
From there, you will see the rotation of the screen under the “Display settings” option where you have to make sure that the slider is set to “0”.
Click the Apply button to save the changes made and then click on Exit. The orientation of your screen should automatically change.
Option 3 – Try using the Windows Display Settings
Since the Windows Settings have a section where you can manage the display settings of your computer, you can use them to help control the resolution of your PC’s display without any trouble. There is a possibility that the settings are changed there so that’s probably why your screen is turned upside down all of a sudden.
Tap the Win + S keys to open search and then type in “settings” in the field and then hit Enter to open Settings.
After opening Settings, click on System and then on Display using the left navigation bar and then scroll to the end and select the Advanced display settings.
Next, click on the Display adapter properties and click on Intel HD Graphics control panel.
Now change the rotation to 0 Degrees. Afterward, the display should revert back to its original form automatically.
Option 4 – Check your monitor’s physical controls
There are monitors that have buttons in them that allows users to shift the rotation of the screen to 90 degrees. It could be that your monitor has these buttons without you knowing and you suddenly pressed them by mistake which caused your screen to rotate. Thus, you have to check your monitor for any physical buttons on the side and if you see a menu, navigate to its options and check if there are screen rotation options. To make it easier for you, you can simply search your monitor’s model online and see if these buttons exist. You could also go over your monitor’s manual if you still have it as it contains details with regards to screen rotation.
Option 5 – Update your Graphics drivers
Tap the Win + R keys to open the Run dialog box and then type in devmgmt.msc and tap Enter or click OK to open the Device Manager.
Expand the section for the outdated device drivers.
And then select the outdated driver(s) and right-click on it/them.
From the drop-down menu, select the Update Driver option if you wish to update the driver or select the Uninstall device if you want to uninstall the driver and then follow the on-screen instructions to install the latest version of the driver.
Restart your PC after the installation to allow the system to reinstall the driver.
If you are trying to connect to the internet using a Wi-Fi, Ethernet, or a Wi-Fi connection and you suddenly encounter Error 633, then read on as this post will guide you on how you can fix this problem in your Windows 10 computer.
According to users who encountered the same problem, when they try to connect to the internet, an error pops up that states, “The modem or other connecting device is either already in use or not appropriately configured”. Next, navigate to this registry path: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetServicesTcpipParameters
After that, follow the path New > Multi-String Value on the edit menu and rename the multi-string value as “ReservedPorts” and then double click on it.
Now in the value data of ReservedPorts, input “1723-1723” and click OK to save the changes made.
Close the Registry Editor and restart your PC. Once your computer has restarted, check if the VPN Error 633 is fixed or not.
Option 3 – Try to use the netstat command
In the Windows Start Search, type “cmd” and from the search results that appear, right-click on Command Prompt and then select the “Run as administrator” option.
After opening Command Prompt as admin, type this command and hit Enter: netstat –aon
After that, the output will be displayed and from there, look for the process ID or PID of any program that uses the TCP port 1723 on your computer.
Next, type this next command and hit Enter: taskkill /PID PID /F
Once the command has been executed, the concerned program will be forced to close and the TCP port 1723 will be freed up. Keep in mind that the taskkill command ends the process corresponds to the process ID number and the given command above, “/F” option is used to end the program’s process forcefully.
Now restart your computer and after that, the concerned program should start using a TCP port other than 1723 which leaves the TCP port 1723 free for your internet device to use.
Option 4 – Remove any irrelevant internet device programs
You could also try removing any irrelevant device programs since it is possible that any of these programs could be the one that’s causing the modem to malfunction. These irrelevant programs could be an internet booster or third-party tools that comes with the modem and so on. These programs are not necessarily needed for your modem to function. Thus, if you want to fix the VPN Error 633, you can try uninstalling them and see if it fixed the error.
Option 5 – Update the Network Adapter drivers
You might also want to update the Network Adapter drivers by following these steps:
Tap the Win + R keys to launch the Run window and then type in the “devmgmt.msc” command and hit Enter to open the Device Manager window.
Under the Device Manager, you will see a list of drivers. From there, look for the Network Adapters and expand them.
Then right-click on each one of the Network drivers and update them all.
Restart your PC and see if it helped in fixing the BSOD error.
Note: If updating the network drivers didn’t help in fixing the VPN Error 633, you can also try to uninstall the very same drivers and restart your Windows 10 PC. After that, the system itself will reinstall the drivers you just uninstalled. Alternatively, you can also download and install the drivers from the manufacturer’s website directly.
To reinstall the network adapter driver, refer to these steps:
Open the Devices Manager from the Win X Menu.
Then locate the device drivers and right-click on them to open the Properties.
After that, switch to the Driver tab and click on the Uninstall Device button.
Follow the screen option to completely uninstall it.
Finally, restart your computer. It will just reinstall the device drivers automatically.
DuckGoGo a popular private search engine is releasing its first browser soon that is focused on privacy like its search engine.
From the recent blog, Gabriel Weinberg, CEO of DuckDuckGo, has stated:
“Like we’ve done on mobile, DuckDuckGo for desktop will redefine user expectations of everyday online privacy,”
From everything that we have learned so far, the browser will be focused on making privacy super easy and simple, eliminating tons of different settings about privacy, and making the whole environment robust privacy protection all set by default. Settings will be applied in all fields, across search, browsing, email, and more. Gabriel also said that aim of the browser is not just a privacy browser, it is meant to be built and used as your everyday browser, for everyday use that protects your privacy as a bonus.
One interesting thing that was stated is that browser itself is built upon OS-provided rendering engines instead of typical Chromium. DuckDuckGo says this approach will strip away a lot of the unnecessary cruft and clutter that's accumulated over the years in major browsers. Also, the company stated that when compared to Chrome, the DuckDuckGo app desktop is cleaner, way more private and that early tests have found out that it is significantly faster as well.

The third time is charm saying goes but not when we are talking about Microsoft. Print spooler is again in focus, in a bad way.
This is the third print spooler vulnerability to emerge in just five weeks. While a critical flaw was originally identified and patched in June, a similar flaw came to light shortly after and was subsequently patched (with mixed success).
Microsoft is once again advising its customers to disable Windows print spooler after a new vulnerability that allows hackers to execute malicious code on machines has emerged. While a patch fixing the flaw will be released in due course, the most effective workaround currently on the table is to stop and disable the print spooler service entirely.
"An elevation of privilege vulnerability exists when the Windows Print Spooler service improperly performs privileged file operations. An attacker who successfully exploited this vulnerability could run arbitrary code with SYSTEM privileges. An attacker could then install programs; view, change, or delete data; or create new accounts with full user rights."
Stop this service right away or you are risking a potential attack.
Press ⊞ WINDOWS + X to open the hidden menu
Click on Power Shell (admin)
In Power Shell type in the following command to check if spool service is running: Get-Service -Name Spooler followed by ENTER
If spooler service is running type in the next command to stop it: Stop-Service -Name Spooler –Force and press ENTER
Then follow with this command to disable it at startup: Set-Service -Name Spooler -StartupType Disabled followed with ENTER

There are cases when your Windows 10 PC can encounter an issue where it gets stuck and will display a message that says, “Preparing Security Options”. If this is happening to your Windows 10 PC, you won’t be able to use your keyboard or even mouse and your screen will only be stuck on the screen as mentioned above.
As your computer is still stuck, you will be left with no choice but to shut it down and restart it. Tap the F11 key as soon as your PC powers on. This will take you to the Advanced Startup options where you can carry out some steps. If it still didn’t work, you have to boot your Windows 10 PC into Safe Mode and then try out the troubleshooting options below.
Option 1 – Try using System Restore
You can do this option either by booting into Safe Mode or in System Restore. If you are already in the Advanced Startup Options, just directly select System Restore and proceed with the next steps. And if you have just booted your PC into Safe Mode, refer to the steps below.
Tap the Win + R keys to open the Run dialog box.
After that, type in “sysdm.cpl” in the field and tap Enter.
Next, go to the System Protection tab then click the System Restore button. This will open a new window where you have to select your preferred System Restore point.
After that, follow the on-screen instructions to finish the process and then restart your computer and check if the problem is fixed or not.
Option 2 – Uninstall the Windows Updates you’ve installed recently
The issue could be caused by Windows Updates so you need to check if it’s indeed the case. The best way you can do so is via Safe Mode.
Boot your PC into Safe Mode and then tap the Win + I keys to open Settings.
After that, click on Update and Security and then select Windows Update from the left side menu column.
Next, select the “View installed update history” option on the right-side column and click on Uninstall Updates which will open a window that will show the list of all the installed updates on your PC.
From there, select the update you want to uninstall and click the Uninstall button located in the lower right corner of the window.
Option 3 – Try disabling the Fast Startup
Boot your PC into Safe Mode.
Then tap the Win + R keys to open the Run dialog box.
Next, type in “control” to open Control Panel.
After that, select Hardware and Sound and click on Power Options.
Select “Choose what the power buttons do” from the left side menu pane and click on Change settings that are currently unavailable.
Afterward, uncheck the “Turn on fast startup (Recommended)” entry and click on Save Changes.
Now restart your PC and check if the problem’s fixed.
Option 4 – Try running both the SFC scan and CHKDSK utility
You can do both SFC and CHKDSK using Safe Mode and Advanced Startup options. For Advanced Startup options, click on the Command Prompt option and proceed with the steps. And if you have booted your computer into Safe Mode, follow these steps:
Tap the Win + X keys or right-click on the Start button and click Command Prompt (admin).
After that, type in this command and tap Enter to run the System File Checker or SFC – “Sfc /scannow”.
Alternatively, you can use this command instead if the previous command didn’t work – “sfc /scannow /offbootdir=c: /offwindir=c:windows”.
Wait until the SFC scan is done with the process and then restart your PC.
Next, run the CHKDSK utility and once it’s done checking your disk for errors and then reboot your PC to save the changes made.
Option 5 – Try resetting Windows 10
You can reset your Windows 10 PC using either the Advanced Startup Options or by booting into Safe Mode.
Tap the Win + I keys and go to Update and Security > Recovery.
Then click on Get Started under the Reset this PC section.
After that, follow the on-screen instructions with how you want to reset your PC and what files and settings you want to revert.
Then it will reset your PC by reinstalling it
Option 6 – Try to rename the SoftwareDistribution folder
In this option, the Command Prompt is supposed to be like the one in option 4. You can use both ways there to open the Command Prompt.
Open an elevated Command Prompt as admin and type in the commands below and tap Enter right after you typed in each one of them
Note: You can also rename the SoftwareDistribution folder to “SoftwareDistribution.bak” or “SoftwareDistribution.old” after you boot your PC into Safe Mode.
Option 7 – Try rebuilding BCD
Rebuilding the BCD can help you in fixing the stuck Windows 10.
You can start by booting into the installation environment for Windows 10 from an installation media.
After that, click on Repair your computer and on the blue screen, select Troubleshoot and then select the Advanced options menu.
Next, select Command Prompt and type in the commands below one by one, and tap Enter right after you do so.
