There are not many applications for creating mind maps, even fewer that are completely free, so it is with great pleasure to present you with Freeplane. Freeplane is mind mapping, Knowledge Management, and Project Management software completely free and open source.

Freeplane is a free and open-source software application that supports thinking, sharing information, and getting things done at work, in school, and at home. The core of the software is tools for mind mapping (also known as concept mapping or information mapping) and using mapped information. Freeplane is written in Java using OSGi and Java Swing. It runs on any operating system that has a current version of Java installed. It can be run locally or portably from removable storage like a USB drive.

We use Github only as of the main code repository, all other project parts are hosted at the source forge. So all bugs and feature requests are managed in a separate issue tracker. There is a drop-down box for selecting different types of issues. Other sources of inspiration are our new forum and old forum. Some users write their ideas there. Every contributor and every team member freely decides what task he is going to work on, but for making the best decision we can communicate our self-set goals in the above forum. It is supposed to enable early discussions and community feedback and also to motivate you and other people.

How to start hacking and contributing

People new to the project can start with implementing a new small feature or doing some refactoring or documentation and not with the bug fixing. Not all bug reports seem to be equally important, and if there are important bugs they usually get fixed by people who broke the functionality. I think you should first get there :).

For internal developer discussions, there is a private mailing list. It is held private to avoid spam mails. If you want to be subscribed let us know what mail address you are going to use with it. This list is the preferred way to ask all code-related questions because they usually get answered soon and by the most competent team member.

The only problem is that if you’re downloading Windows 11 from shady sources, you’re probably already set to click through the dozen or so warnings that pop up telling you not to install it. Fix Windows defender 0x800700AA Error

  2. Run DISM scan

    DISM scan is similar to SFC scan but it tackles different types of system file corruption and it is recommended to run it also after SFC has been completed. Please note that for DISM scan to be successful you will need a stable internet connection since DISM will replace corrupted files with new ones downloaded from Microsoft. To run it do the following: Press ⊞ WINDOWS + X to open the secret menu Left-click on the command prompt (admin) inside command prompt type: exe /online /cleanup-image /scanhealth followed by ENTER, then type: Dism.exe /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth also followed with ENTER. From a privacy standpoint, Telegram has robust security, but it is worth noting that only “secret” messages are end-to-end encrypted and can self-destruct. Non-secret messages can be stored on Telegram’s servers so you can pick them up between your devices quickly. That’s a consideration worth knowing prior to making Telegram your default Messenger replacement. Telegram is free across all platforms.

THREEMA

Rising in popularity, Threema is another privacy-focused alternative that has quickly become a competitor to Facebook Messenger. This paid service ($2.99 on both App Store and Play Store) is a pay-once, use forever option. Once you pay the small fee, you gain all of Threema’s touted privacy options, like open-source end-to-end encryption for both messages and calls. Like Signal, Threema won’t require you to link any phone numbers or emails to your account. All chats are handled anonymously, and the service generates a random user ID when you first open and register for the app. No data is collected from any of your chats and no ads are shown. The Swiss-made app does have its own servers hosted in Switzerland, which do not store any chat messages. Another privacy benefit of Threema is the notion that all of your contact lists, groups, and user profiles are hosted on your device, not on the Swiss servers. How to Fix Windows 10 Error 0x800488AB

Code 0x800488AB – What is it?

The Error Code 0x800488AB will appear when a user is in the Windows 10 Mail app and has provided an Outlook.com e-mail address. The mail app will give a message that the “account information is out of date” and it does provide an option to fix the issue. After clicking the Fix button, this error code will show up to the user. Common symptoms include:
  • A dialog box will appear with the Error Code 0x800488AB
  • Microsoft Windows 10 Mail App will not retrieve (or subsequently send) mail
  • User cannot delete and re-add the Outlook email account in the Windows 10 Mail app
  • User can still access and log in to various Microsoft websites, including logging into the Outlook Mail website

This error can be caused by a few different actions of the user when they have changed a password or a PIN number to access their Outlook mail. This error does have a relatively easy fix after the cause is determined and where the break-in information has occurred. A few of the causes may be:
  • If the user changes their password on the Microsoft website and uses the alternative PIN login method to access the Mail App.
  • The log-in information on the Microsoft website does not match the login information on the Windows 10 App.
  • The login information was changed on the Microsoft website and was not updated to reflect on the Windows 10 Mail app.
The Microsoft website and Microsoft Mail app do not share the knowledge of the change in login credentials, therefore the log-in credentials appear to be incorrect when trying to access the Microsoft Mail app. It should be noted that a user may bypass the password option if they log in to the Microsoft Mail app while using the alternative PIN log-in method, thus still leaving the password undetected.

As is the case with all new technology and having a few wrinkles, the release of Microsoft Windows 10 is not left out. There have been a few discussions of errors and bugs, including Error Code 0x800488AB. As of right now, there are three different methods that can be utilized by any at-home user. These methods are rather simple and make sense when the problem has been identified.

Method 1:

Run the built-in Windows Store Apps troubleshooter:
  1. Press the Windows Key and then type ‘troubleshoot’ and hit Enter
  2. Select “View all” on the left panel and run the “Windows Store Apps” troubleshooter from the list displayed and see if it works.

Method 2:

Use the System File Checker tool to repair corrupted or missing system files:

Method 3:

  1. Press the Windows Key
  2. Search for "Credentials Manager"
  3. Click on Windows Credentials
  4. Look for any reference to your windows account (generally your @outlook.com is listed)
  5. Delete them.
  6. Then select your account at the top of the start menu and select Log Out.
  7. If using a Pin Code, switch to type input and put your password into the box.
When you go to Mail, and select "Fix Issues" it will detect your password and your account should sync with new emails. In some cases, depending on why this particular error code was caused, you may have to use a powerful automated tool to have it resolved.

1) Clean the Registry

  • Make sure that in Program Files and Microsoft ISA Server, a Clients folder exists. The ISA Server service will run on this folder
  • Confirm that Administrators and SYSTEM have Full Control assigned in the Program Files/Microsoft ISA Server/Clients folder
  • Confirm that Msplat.txt file is in the Clients folder. You can copy this file from other ISA Server computers if it is missing
  • If the Clients folder is damaged or is missing, or if you can’t copy the Msplat.tct file from another ISA Server computer, then reinstall the ISA Server 2000

If you encounter Error Code 0x80090016 while trying to create a PIN or when you are using Microsoft Store, then you’ve come to the right place as this post will guide you in how you can fix this problem. Recently some users reported that they were unable to sign in or set up the Windows 10 Login PIN. Note that the potential fixes for this issue are totally different in both scenarios. Here’s the error message you get when you encounter the PIN related error:
“Something went wrong, We weren’t able to set up your PIN. Sometimes it helps to try again or you can skip for now and do this later.”
On the other hand, here’s the error message you get for the Microsoft Store-related error:

Here are some potential fixes you can try to fix the Error Code 0x80090016 in the Microsoft Store:

Option 1 – Try to sync the Date and Time

The first thing you can try is to sync the Date and Time of your computer as the wrong Date and Time settings are one of the most common causes of connection problems like the Error Code 0x80090016. This is because of the incompatibility between the SSL Certificate validation date and the System Clock. Thus, you have to sync your System Clock. Refer to the steps below to do so.
  • Start by tapping the Win + I keys to open the Windows Settings.
  • Next, go to Time & Language > Date & time.
  • From there, turn the toggle on for the “Set time automatically and Set time zone automatically” option on the right-side panel.
  • After that, click on Region & language located on the left side panel and make sure that the Country or region on the right-side panel is set to the country you live in.
  • Now close the Settings app and restart your computer and see if it fixes the problem or not.

Option 2 – Try to re-register the Microsoft Store app via PowerShell

  • Tap the Win + X key combination or right-click on the Start button and click on the Windows PowerShell (Admin) option.
  • If a User Account Control or UAC prompt appears, just click on Yes to proceed and open the Windows PowerShell window.
  • Next, type in or copy-paste the following command to re-register the Microsoft Store app and tap Enter:
powershell -ExecutionPolicy Unrestricted Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register $Env:SystemRootWinStoreAppxManifest.xml
  • Wait for the process to be completed and then restart your computer.

Option 3 – Try to reset the Microsoft Store cache

Just like browsers, Microsoft Store also caches as you view apps and games so it is most likely that the cache is no longer valid and must be removed. To do so, follow the steps below.
  • Right-click on the start button and click on Command Prompt (administrator).
  • Next, type in the command, “exe” and tap Enter. Once you do, the command will clear the cache for the Windows Store app.
  • Now restart your PC and afterward, try opening Microsoft Store again and then see if Error Code 0x80090016 is resolved or not.

Option 4 – Try to run the Windows Store Troubleshooter

The Windows 10 Store Apps Troubleshooter will help you in fixing the Error Code 0x80090016. This is a great built-in tool from Microsoft that helps users fix any app installation issues. So this is worth a try to solve the problem. This built-in tool also helps you fix the Windows 10 Store if it isn’t working. To use the Windows Store Troubleshooter, follow the steps below.
  • Tap Win + I keys again to open the Windows Settings panel.
  • Go to Update & Security and then go to Troubleshoot.
  • On your right-hand side, scroll down to find the Windows Store Apps and then click on Run the troubleshooter option and see if it fixes the problem.
On the other hand, you can use the options below if you encounter Error Code 0x80090016 while setting up your PIN.

Option 5 – Try to manage the NGC Folder

  • You need to boot your computer into Safe Mode first.
  • Next, delete all the contents of the NGC folder and you can do that by taking ownership of the folder first. To do so, refer to these sub-steps:
    • First, locate the concerned folder and right-click on it then select Properties.
    • Next, click on the Edit button in the Properties window and click OK to confirm if you got a User Account Control elevation request.
    • After that, select user/group from the permission windows or click on the Add button to add another user or group. It would be best if you add “Everyone” to give permission.
    • Then check “Full Control” under the “Allow” column to assign full access rights control permissions.
    • Now edit the permission to Full Control for “Everyone”.
    • Click OK to save the changes made and then exit.
  • After you take ownership of the folder, you can now delete all of its contents.
  • Once you’re done, restart your computer and see if the problem is fixed.

Option 6 – Try to use the Group Policy Editor

  • Tap the Win + R keys to open the Run dialog box
  • Then type “gpedit.msc” in the field and hit Enter or click OK to open the Group Policy Editor.
  • Next, navigate to this setting: Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > System > Logon
  • After that, double click on “Turn on convenience PIN Sign-in” and set its radio button to Enable. This policy setting has the following description:
“This policy setting allows you to control whether a domain user can sign in using a convenience PIN. If you enable this policy setting, a domain user can set up and sign in with a convenience PIN. If you disable or don’t configure this policy setting, a domain user can’t set up and use a convenience PIN. Note: The user’s domain password will be cached in the system vault when using this feature. To configure Windows Hello for Business, use the Administrative Template policies under Windows Hello for Business.”
  • After you set the radio button to Enable, it will turn on the Logins using the PIN. Note that setting the radio button to Disabled or Not Configured will turn off the Logins using the PIN.
  • Now exit the Group Policy Editor and restart your PC so that the changes can take effect.

What to do if Windows 10 PC turns on by itself
A PC that turns on by itself every so often can get quite annoying. Many users have faced this problem countless times. There are lots of possible reasons why your Windows 10 PC turns on by itself, wakes up from sleep, standby, or even when it’s shut down. To find out what exactly woke your computer, simply open Command Prompt as admin and type the following command:
powercfg –lastwake
Once you enter the command given above, it will show you the last device that woke your PC up. After that, you need to type in the next command:
powercfg –devicequery wake_armed
After entering the command, it will show you a list of all the devices that could wake your PC up. The goal in running these commands is to understand the reason what’s really causing your PC to turn on and see the reason is on the hardware level or not. Here are a couple of options you can try if your Windows 10 PC turns on by itself.

Option 1 – Try disabling Fast Startup

As you know, Windows 10 comes with a mode called Fast Startup which does not turn off the computer in the usual manner. This mode keeps your computer in a mixed state so that when you turn it on again, it will be a lot faster. However, as useful as this feature appear to be, some security experts find this an issue, for numerous reasons – for one, it can turn on your Windows 10 PC by itself. Thus, you need to disable this feature to fix the problem.

Option 2 – You need to stop the Task Scheduler from waking up your computer

There are times when the issue has something more to do with the software than hardware. It could be that you are using a Scheduled Task to get some work done on your computer at a particular time of the day or many times a day. That’s why if you really are using Task Scheduler, you need to change the Power settings of Windows to make sure that it ignores those tasks rather than deleting them instead when your computer is either on Hybrid or Standby mode.
  • Open the Power Options and then click on “Change Plan Settings”.
  • After that, make sure to choose the correct power plan and then select the “Change advanced power settings” option.
  • Next, look for the Sleep tree and expand it to view the “Allow Wake Timers” option and then disable it. Disabling this option will make sure that none of the program that could wake your PC up when it’s either on shutdown or sleep mode. However, this only applies to laptops.

Option 3 – Try to disable Automatic Restart

There are instances when the computer crashes and the system restarts itself. This is actually by design – when your computer has been left on standby, the computer will restart and if the program repeats, it will keep on waking your PC up.
  • In the Search bar, type in “system”.
  • Once it appears from the search results, click on it.
  • Next, select Advanced system settings on the left side and then go to the Advanced tab.
  • From there, click on Settings under Startup and Recovery.
  • Then unmark “Automatically Restart” and click on OK.

Option 4 – Adjust the Power Management option of both the Keyboard and Mouse

As you know, two of the culprits in waking your PC up are the keyboard and the mouse. If they’re slightly moved or hit, your PC turns on. To prevent these two from waking your computer up, you need to make some adjustments to their power management option since they have one. You can disable this option to ensure that they won’t wake your PC up unless you really want it to.
  • Tap the Win + X keys and then tap M to open the Device Manager and list all the hardware on your computer. From there, select your keyboard or mouse.
  • Next, right-click and then go to Properties and go to the Power Management tab.
  • In this tab, uncheck the “Allow this device to wake the computer” box.
Note: Aside from the keyboard and mouse, if you are also using any gaming rig to play games on your computer, then you might have to disable their power options as well as they could also wake your computer. Just make sure that either the keyboard or the mouse has the ability to wake your computer up at the very least as it can be quite inconvenient to tap the Power button every time you want to turn on your computer.

Option 5 – Modify Wake On Lan

The Wake On Lan feature can bring back your computer online if it is connected to a network. This feature is useful especially when a computer wants to communicate or to send data or files to a network computer which should come online only when it’s requested. Wake On Lan is built into the hardware, i.e. network adapter so it is one of the possible reasons why your PC turns on by itself.
  • Tap the Win + x keys then hit M to open the Device Manager and then under the Network adapters, look for the one that was listed above. Take note that you must not change anything with the ones that are listed as Miniport.
  • Next, right-click and select Properties and then go to Power management and from there, uncheck the “Allow this device to wake up the computer” option. This will ensure that no PC on the network can ever wake your computer up.

Option 6 – Prevent any scheduled Windows Update and Automatic maintenance

It is also possible that the Windows Update has restarted your PC to complete the update. This depends on your active hours or a predefined schedule. AS you know Windows has a built-in Automatic Maintenance mode which wakes the computer up at the scheduled time and performs the system update. This could be one of the possible reasons why your computer turns on by itself. so to prevent any scheduled updates and maintenance, you can simply change the time for Automatic maintenance. How? Follow these steps:
  • Open Settings then go to Windows Update and Security >Windows Update and select Active Hours.
  • After that, type in “Automatic maintenance” in the search bar to change the time for Automatic maintenance.
  • From there, you can adjust the timing or just uncheck the “Allow scheduled maintenance to wake up my computer at the scheduled time” box.

As you know, the Office Language Packs need to be installed right after installing Office. It also has to be on the correct version of Office so if any of these conditions are not met, you will most likely get error codes 30053-4 or 30053-39 when you install a language pack in Microsoft Office. If you are currently facing this error, read on as this post will help you fix the problem. Here’s the full context of the error message:
“Something went wrong, Sorry, installation cannot continue because no compatible office products are detected.”
When you have to work on two different languages, that’s where the language packs come in handy. You might have to work on one language but when it comes to proofreading or help, you need another language. Note that some language accessory packs offer partial localization which is why some parts of the Office might show the default language. If you are using Office 365 or Office 2019, 2016, 2013, or 2010, you need to go to the language accessory pack page from office.com and select your language. Once you see the download link, click on it to start downloading the pack. It includes the display in the chosen language, proofing tools for the selected language, as well as the Help in the selected language. Once the installation is complete, follow each one of the given options below to configure the language accessory pack properly.

Option 1 – Select Editing and Proofing language

  • You need to open any Office program and navigate to File > Options > Language.
  • From there, you need to make sure that the language you want to use is in the list under the Choose Editing Languages section.

Fix error 0x00000709 when connecting a Printer
One of the most common and bothersome issues with a printer is when it refuses to get configured or set up on your computer. Thus when your printer has some configuration issues, you will most likely encounter the error 0x00000709. This occurs if there is already a default printer set and configured or Windows does not want to configure the new printer at all. The operation could not be completed (error 0x00000709), Double check the printer name and make sure that the printer is connected to the network. Today, we will try two fixes that may help you get rid of this error.

Option 1 – Run the Printer Troubleshooter

One of the first basic troubleshooting you can perform to resolve the printer issue is running the Printer Troubleshooter. This built-in troubleshooter can detect and automatically fix the problem for you. To use it, follow these steps:
  • Tap the Win + R keys to open the Run dialog box.
  • Next, type “exe /id PrinterDiagnostic” in the field and click OK or hit Enter to open the Printer Troubleshooter.
  • Then click the Next button and follow the next on-screen instructions to fix the issue with the printer.

Option 2 – Try to use some Registry tweaks to add the Printer

You might want to use some tweaks to add the Printer but before you proceed, make sure to create a System Restore Point so that if anything goes out of hand, you can always undo the changes you’ve made.
  • Tap the Win + R keys to open the Run dialog box.
  • Next, type “Regedit” in the field and hit Enter to open the Registry Editor.
  • When a UAC or User Account Control prompt appears, click Yes.
  • Once you’ve opened the Registry Editor, go to the following key location:
HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindows NTCurrentVersionWindows
  • From there, double click on the file named “Device on the right side pane under the Windows folder.
  • Now add the name of your printer in the Value Data field as you can see below and then click the OK button.
Note: As you can see on the image above, you must not change the “.winspool.Ne02:” part and only the first one which is the name of your printer.
  • After that, you will get a message that says, “Cannot edit Device: Error writing the value’s new contents, simply click on OK again. You have to take note of the existing permissions before you proceed to the next step. Once you’ve added the Printer, make sure to reverse the changes you’ve made to the Permissions.
  • Now right click on the Windows folder located on the left pane and click on Permission.
  • Select Restricted under the Group or user names section.
  • Then check the checkboxes for “Full Control”, “Read” and “Special Permissions” under the Permissions for RESTRICTED section.
  • After that click the Apply button and then OK to save the changes made.
  • Next, right-click on the file named “UserSelectdDefault” and select Rename to rename it to your printer’s name.
  • Now restart your computer to successfully apply the changes made.
  • After the printer is added, don’t forget to reverse the Permission changes you’ve made early on.

Option 3 – Try updating the Printer drivers

You might also want to try updating your printer drivers. All you have to do is locate the USB Composite Device. For complete details, follow the steps below.
  • First, click the Start button and type “device manager”.
  • Then click on the “Device Manager” from the search results to open it.
  • From there, look for the USB Composite Device option and right-click on it, and select the Update Driver from the options.
  • Restart your PC and then click the “Search automatically for updated driver software” option.
Note: You also have the option to download the latest version of your Printer from the manufacturer’s website.
