It is no secret that Fortnite is one of the most played games in the world. Epic has done a great job offering it to plenty of other platforms with cross-play feature meaning that you can play with your friends no matter on what platform they are on.
But how Fortnite is a piece of software which is constantly updated and maintained it is pretty normal to have some bugs or issues from time to time.
One of the before-mentioned issues is a connection issue or unable to connect to game servers.
In our article, we will go through common fixes and solutions in order to get you back in-game as fast as possible. Keep on reading.
Check the Epic Games Status page
Check the Epic Games Server Status page to make sure all systems are operational. If the issue you’re experiencing is related to an outage or system-wide issue, you won’t be able to connect to the Epic Games Launcher or Fortnite until it's resolved.
Use a wired connection
Wireless connections are not as stable as wired connections. This means that the signal can be unreliable and result in packet loss, connection problems, or higher latency or ping. Connect directly to your modem or router with an Ethernet cable to eliminate this possibility and have the fastest connection possible.
Disable your firewalls
Often the quickest way to fix connection problems due to firewalls is to temporarily uninstall and/or disable it.
Windows Firewall disable guide:
Click on Start.
Click on Control Panel.
Click on System and Security.
Click on Windows Firewall.
Click on Turn Windows Firewall on or off (You might need to provide the Administrator password at this step)
Under each Network location, select the Turn off Windows Firewall option
Uninstall any other firewalls
Using a third-party firewall may prevent you from being able to connect to the Epic Games Launcher, Fortnite, or another Epic Games product. We recommend removing any third party firewalls temporarily to see if this resolves your issue. If it does resolve the problem, make sure to add the following executables as exceptions to your firewall:
Contact your firewall manufacturer for instructions on how to add these as exceptions to it as this varies between them.
Unblock your network ports
Network ports allow certain types of data to be successfully sent over a network that is used by our services. If you have any of these blocked, it may result in you being unable to connect to our games or use our services properly. To unblock your ports on your router do the following:
Windows
First, you will need to get your default gateway and internal IP address:
Click on Start.
Type cmd and press Enter.
Type ipconfig and press Enter.
Take note of your Default Gateway and IPv4.
Configuring your router to unblock the ports
Open your web browser.
Type your Default Gateway into the address bar and press Enter. (A common Default Gateway is 192.168.1.1)
You may be asked for a username and password. This varies for each router. Before entering anything, try just hitting OK. If that doesn't work, try the common default username and password below:
Username: admin
Password: password
If these don't work, you can check this website for a list of usernames and passwords based on your router model.
Locate the Port Forwarding page in the administration tool and click on it.
Make sure you have Port Forwarding selected and not Port Triggering as this is completely different.
On this screen, you will need to enter the ports and port ranges below with the correct protocol and local IP of which you took note of above: 80 (TCP/UDP), 433 (TCP), 443 (TCP), 3478 (TCP/UDP), 3479 (TCP/UDP), 5060 (TCP/UDP), 5062 (TCP/UDP), 5222 (TCP), 6250 (TCP/UDP), and12000-65000 (TCP/UDP).
If you have any trouble doing the above on your router, make sure to check out the router manufacturer's support site for additional instructions as these will vary from router to router.
VPN and Proxy Servers
Do NOT use VPN or Proxy Servers. These cause issues that can't be resolved by us without having you disable them. Check out this article for information on how to disable your proxy server.
Switch Domain Name Systems (DNS)
Switching your DNS can result in better connectivity and performance for your internet connection. There are two different DNS services we recommend to have you try if you are having issues with your connection. Below are the followings links with instructions on how to change your DNS:
Epic Games Launcher: Edit your Engine.ini file (Windows only)
Editing these settings can result in better download speeds using the Epic Games Launcher:
Click on Start.
Type %localappdata% and press Enter.
Open the EpicGamesLauncher
Open the Saved
Open the Config
Open the Windows
Open ini and add the following lines to it:
[HTTP]
HttpTimeout=10
HttpConnectionTimeout=10
HttpReceiveTimeout=10
HttpSendTimeout=10[Portal.BuildPatch]
ChunkDownloads=3
ChunkRetries=20
RetryTime=0.5

The CoreFoundation dll error is a common error associated with Apple Software products. Most of the Apple Software products rely on this dll file to load and run. This dll file is Apple’s proprietary.
The error message is prompted in the following format:
“CoreFoundation.dll was not found”
or
“Apple Application Support is missing’.
Solution
Error Causes
The CoreFoundation.dll error message is triggered because of several reasons. These include:
Deleted CoreFoundation dll file
The CoreFoundation dll file has been overwritten
Poor installation of the Apple software
Corrupt software due to viral infection
Registry problems

It is advisable to fix CoreFoundation dll error code right away to avoid inconvenience. This error may stop you from accessing and running your desired Apple application.
Here are some of the best ways to resolve this error on your system:
1. Restore the Deleted CoreFoundation dll File
Since Dynamic Link Library is a shared program, if you happen to delete an Apple program on your PC, chances are you might have deleted that file too in the process.
Therefore, the easiest way to recover and restore the CoreFoundation dll file and resolve the error is to look for the file in the recycle bin. If you can’t locate it, then another way to restore the missing CoreFoundation dll file is to download the files from the internet.
2. Reinstall Apple Software
If the error still persists then it is advisable to re-install Apple software via iTunes or any other Apple Software that you have on your PC.
For example, if you have iTunes, then to reinstall it first go to the start menu and then the control panel. Now click on Add/Remove programs and locate iTunes software. Click the Uninstall button next to iTunes. Wait for a while until the program is completely uninstalled.

Upgrading your Windows 10 computer does not always go smoothly and you often encounter not just one but various errors so, in this post, we are going to cover several Windows 10 upgrade errors such as 80240020, 8007002C, 80246007, 80070004. All these upgrade errors are related to the Windows Update folder. Thus, you need to clear the Software Distribution folder, repair the System Image and fix System Health in order to resolve all these Windows 10 Upgrade errors.
Before you get started on the steps to resolve these tons of errors, you have to disable your security program for the meantime, disconnect your peripherals, remove USBs connected to your PC and then make sure that your PC is connected to the main power supply. Once you have everything covered, carefully follow the options given below.
Option 1 – Delete Windows 10 Update Files in the SoftwareDistribution folder
The Software Distribution folder in the Windows operating system is a folder that can be found in the Windows directory and is used to store files temporarily which might be required to install the Windows Update on your PC. Thus, it is required by the Windows Update and maintained by WUAgent. A lot of users tried deleting the files in this folder to fix the problem and so far it has worked. Like them, you can try clearing the Windows Update cache by simply deleting the contents of the folder named “SoftwareDistribution” since Windows apparently can’t clear and re-download the update contents once they are corrupted. Thus, deleting the contents of this folder will make Windows download the contents again which will fix the problem. To do that, follow the steps below.
Open the WinX Menu.
From there, open Command Prompt as admin.
Then type in the following command – don’t forget to hit Enter right after typing each one of them.
net stop wuauservnet stop bits
After entering these commands, it will stop the Windows Update Service and the Background Intelligent Transfer Service.
Next, go to the C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution folder and get rid of all the folders and files thereby tapping the Ctrl + A keys to select them all and then click on Delete. Note that if the files are in use, you won’t be able to delete them.
Once all the contents in the Software Distribution folder are deleted, restart your PC and then go back to Command Prompt and input the following commands again.
net start wuauservnet start bits
Since the folder has already been flushed, it will be populated afresh the instant your restart your computer and open Windows Update.
Now Open Settings and check for Windows Updates. Windows 10 should begin the download right away.
Option 2 – Try using the DISM tool
Running the DISM Tool helps in repairing the Windows System Image as well as the Windows Component Store in Windows 10. Using this built-in tool, you have various options such as the “/ScanHealth”, “/CheckHealth”, and “/RestoreHealth”.
Open the Command Prompt with admin privileges.
Then type in the following commands and make sure to hit Enter right after you type each one of them:
Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth
Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth
exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth
Do not close the window if the process takes a while as it will probably take a few minutes to finish.
Note: If it happens that the Windows Update client is broken, you need to run the following command to repair it then restart your PC and click on Update once again.
Note: The Windows Upgrade error, with error code 80240020 is an expected error message that happens when the upgrade requires customer user action. Thus, you need to do the following steps to resolve this particular Windows Upgrade error.
Tap the Win + R keys to open the Run dialog box.
Then type “regedit” in the field and hit Enter to open the Registry Editor.
After that, navigate to this registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionWindowsUpdate
Now right click on WindowsUpdate located in the left pane and then create a new key and name it as “OSUpgrade”
Next, right-click in an empty space in the left pane and create a new DWORD and name it “AllowOSUpgrade” and enter “1” as its value.
Option 3 – Try running the Windows Update in a Clean Boot State.
Putting your PC in a Clean Boot state can also help you install Windows Updates or Upgrades without any trouble because, during this state, you can start the system with a minimum number of drivers and startup programs that will surely help you in isolating the root cause of the issue.
Log onto your PC as an administrator.
Type in MSConfig in the Start Search to open the System Configuration utility.
From there, go to the General tab and click “Selective startup”.
Clear the “Load Startup items” checkbox and make sure that the “Load System Services” and “Use Original boot configuration” options are checked.
Next, click the Services tab and select the “Hide All Microsoft Services” checkbox.
Click Disable all.
Click on Apply/OK and restart your PC. (This will put your PC into a Clean Boot State. And configure Windows to use the usual startup, just simply undo the changes.)
After that, try to install the Windows Updates or upgrade again.
At its most basic level, Error Code 0x8024001b is an error that can cause problems with the installation and updates of software and operating system updates. The most common version of this error appears in Windows 10, but a similar error with a matching code number has been present in previous versions of the operating system, back through Windows 7.
Common symptoms include:
Programs freezing or locking up during use
The appearance of an error message regarding installation difficulties
Computer shutting down or freezing during operation
Difficulty in running multiple programs at the same time
Solution
Error Causes
There are two main causes for Error Code 0x8024001b, both of which are fairly simple: Updates needed for the Windows Update tool itself and software that causes Windows Update to fail during installations through conflicts in system files. While these may seem like technical issues, these problems are actually easily resolved with a few simple steps. The average user can use the methods listed below to fix the problems on their own.
Further Information and Manual Repair
For users who want to address Error Code 0x8024001b for themselves, the steps below can be followed to address the two primary causes for the error. If you have difficulty in completing these steps or are not confident in your computing skills and ability to follow the listed steps, contact a Windows repair technician.
Here are the top methods to resolve Error Code 0x8024001b on your own:
Method One: Check for Updates to Windows Update
In some cases, the Windows Update tool may need an update for itself. When you attempt to run updates or install wizards for other software, it can cause conflicts with the Windows Update process, slowing down your computer or causing it to freeze.
If you are attempting to run multiple installations or updates at the same time, it may also cause Error Code 0x8024001b to arise on your computer.
To resolve this issue, close out all programs, with the exception of the Windows Update tool. Within the tool, select “Check for Updates” and install any updates that are needed. When finished, you should restart your computer to ensure that all updates have been fully applied before attempting any other installations or updates.
Method Two: Uninstall Conflicting Software
Another problem that can cause Error Code 0x8024001b is the presence of conflicting software. If Error Code 0x8024001b has only recently appeared on your computer, consider removing any software that has been added to your computer, running the Windows Update process, and restarting your computer before attempting to reinstall the problem software.
With any method that you use, it is important to remember to keep your Windows Updates current at all times. This is the best way to avoid the appearance of Error Code 0x8024001b and similar errors in the future, as stacked up updates are more likely to cause issues and conflicts with your other installed software and operating system.
While there are some tools out there that claim to be able to fix Error Code 0x8024001b for you, it is important to always thoroughly investigate the publisher and distributor of such software, as some of the tools available on the Internet will actually introduce malware and adware on your computer in the name of “protecting” your computer or resolving an error.
If you have tried to use both methods above and have not fully resolved Error Code 0x8024001b, get in touch with someone who is a qualified computer repair professional and is familiar with your particular version of the Windows operating system to assist you in finalizing your resolution.
Method Three: Use An Automated Tool
If you wish to always have at your disposal a utility tool to fix these Windows 10 and other related issues when they do arise, download and install a powerful automated tool.
Users who receive Error Code 80240020 when attempting to install and/or upgrade to Microsoft Windows 10, are receiving the error because the Windows 10 installation folder is either corrupted or unfinished. As a result of this error code, your download and the subsequent update will not process correctly.
Users who receive this code do not have to do anything specific, as it might mean that they are attempting to update before their system is ready. These users can simply wait for their computer to prompt them for the update, and then follow the on-screen instructions for the update. However, if a user is seriously wanting to update to Microsoft Windows 10 prior to the prompt, there are ways around error code 80240020.
Common symptoms include:
A dialog box appears with the Error Code 80240020
Microsoft Windows 10 upgrade is unsuccessful or freezes in the process of updating and displays the error code message.
Solution
Error Causes
This error is only caused by one type of issue, and that is unfinished or corrupted files being present in the Windows 10 installation folder.
Files that are unfinished in the Windows 10 installation folder are a result of the download not processing correctly, therefore the update is not successful because your computer does not have the files that it needs.
Files that are corrupted in the Windows 10 installation folder are a result of either a faulty download or preexisting corrupted files that need to be purged.
Until your system is ready to download the new Microsoft Windows 10 upgrade, you will be unable to install the upgrade. As stated, you have the option of waiting for your system to prompt you to download (which means that your system has made the necessary changes to its own files and is ready for the upgrade), or you can use the following steps to correct the issue yourself.
Further Information and Manual Repair
Users and Microsoft Tech Support personnel have discovered three methods to correct error code 80240020. Each of these methods should be attempted by someone who is comfortable with computer software and programs. Set the Value to 0x00000001.
Close and reopen your Control Panel.
Restart the Microsoft Windows 10 upgrade.
Method 2:
Download the Microsoft Windows 10 ISO (installation device) from the following website: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10
Users must select the appropriate ISO, either 32 bit or 64 bit, depending upon their individual computer.
Extract the ISO file to a separate USB device or burn the program to a compact disc.
Run the Microsoft Windows 10 upgrade directly from the software that you have thus created.
Method 3:
Access the files on your computer via MY COMPUTER
Under the C: drive, access the WINDOWS folder
Select the SOFTWARE DISTRIBUTION folder, followed by the DOWNLOAD folder.
Delete any files within this download folder.
If you are unable to delete these files, open the command prompt (CMD) as the administrator, and type “net stop wuauserv” into the CMD prompt window. Press ENTER. This should allow you to delete the files from step 4.
Once the files are deleted, open and run the CMD as the administrator and type “wuauclt.exe /updatenow”. Press ENTER.
Access the WINDOWS UPDATE folder from your control panel, the update and download should resume without further interference from the user.
As with any other error codes, if the above methods do not rectify the issue, it may be necessary to download and install a powerful automated tool to rectify error code 80240020.
AI and neural networks are more and more being used in all parts of our lives. From face detections to deep fakes it is both amusing and frightening to watch at the same time.
From some really bad uses of neural networks and AI overall, looking at you deep fakes, upscaling videos or images are mostly harmless pieces of work not harming anyone.
There is one cool YouTube channel, well there are more but this one seems to have most of the videos on it and if I am wrong I apologize.
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC33rC3GO1UZFAkMcCCwjyWg
So upscale is like previously mentioned a YouTube channel that hosts old game trailers and into videos but in full 4K or 8K video resolution, fully upscaled using neural networks.
There are some videos that are not maybe top-notch but the large quantity of them is pretty well upscaled and they do indeed look great.
So if you have some time and want that old nostalgia fix, go and check it out. You might find something that will bring that old you out and you might even drop a smile or two remembering old good days, I know I have.
Microsoft has presented its next version of their flagship product, Windows 11, and feelings are divided among users.
Some users like it very much and eager to upgrade, some do not like the graphic overhaul it went through, but overall I think Microsoft has done a good job with it.
Here in this article, we will discuss some of the new features which Windows brings to the table, well at least ones that were showed, I am sure there are plenty more which we will see once OS has been released.
New Start menu
One of the first things that everyone saw when Microsoft has unveiled Windows 11 is its Start menu. Funny enough this is what has caused most of the divide among users, some find it interesting, and some do not like it. Truth is, it is different, and it is centered in the middle instead of the lower left part of the screen.
It has been confirmed however that the Start menu can be moved to any part of the screen so if you want, you could place it on the lower left as it has always been.
Live tiles do not longer exist in the Start menu, instead, we have styled simple icons.
Windows 11 Snap controls are great
If you have used the cascade option in previous Windows versions then it is most likely that you will like the new Snap controls.
You can quickly snap windows side by side, or arrange them in sections on your desktop just by hovering over maximize button on the title bar.
Windows 11 File Explorer
File explorer has gone through some visual and design changes, the ribbon on top has been completely removed and replaced with a header-like feature with a slick and clean design.
The header contains a nice organized and designed single row of icons like cut, paste, copy, rename, delete, and new folder icons.
Settings app ovberhaul
The settings app also has gone through visual and design changes. It has a new design that is very visually appealing and navigation has been simplified and more organized. Finding the right and desired setting is much faster and clearer now.
Widget tab makes comeback in Windows 11
Yes, widgets are back but not like you remember them.
Instead of being all-time present at your desktop like once they used to be, now there is a button on the taskbar which brings the widget bar up that contains desired widgets. This way they are easily accessible and do not clutter desktops.
So far we have weather, news, calendar, and stocks widget but we will see how development on these goes. I expect to have community-made widgets like in old days for all of our needs.
XBOX app
The new Xbox app is now integrated into Windows 11, offering quick access to Xbox Game Pass games, the social parts of the Xbox network, and the Xbox store.
Security and TPM 2.0 in Windows 11
As widely known by now Windows 11 will require you to have a TPM 2.0 module capable CPU in order to install it.
This system requirement has caused a lot of controversies but essentially it seems that MS's goal is to protect your personal data by using this module.
The upside of course is that your data will be protected much more than in previous Windows versions, the downside, of course, will be that you will need newer hardware to run OS on it.
and that is essentially it, keep on tuned on more Windows 11 information and overall articles tied to PC and technology here at errortools.com
Long working hours on a laptop can have some issues with laptop heating and thus slowing down. Today we will take a look at how can you prevent it from heating and keep it in a normal temperature range so it lasts longer and works better.
Close unnecessary programs or browser tabs
Usually, the main reason for high laptop temperature is the heavy and constant workload. Of course, the solution is very simple, turn off unnecessary browser tabs or applications running in the background, and less power will be needed for operation thus directly reducing workload and temperature.
Place it on a hard flat surface
Laptops generally have vents on the side and even under them, these vents, of course, are made so hot air is disposed of through them but if they are covered that will create issues. Placing computers on textiles, pillows, and legs can obstruct their venting holes and increase heat also since they are materials that are not taking heat away.
Your best practice should be placing the laptop onto a hard flat surface so air can flow freely and if you need to keep it in your lap there are lap desks made for this purpose.
Clean the laptop
With some good cleaning, the laptop can stop overheating, and generally, it will be cooler. Vents that has for ventilation can get clogged over large periods of time due to dust which is always present. Compressed air can be a quick easy solution to open the vents and redust it. Other methods include a compressor, vacuum, or brush in order to quickly remove any dust clogs. Taking it into service for complete redusting and paste change is also a great option.
Place it on the dedicated pad
There is some disagreement about using dedicated cooling pads for laptops, some say they are not effective at all, and some swear by them but from my experience good paired laptop and pad can indeed help with cooling it down. Usually, cooling pads will come with fans that will take away heat from the laptop itself reducing its overall heat.
Change your Windows power plan
If your laptop is constantly hot but you are not doing much with him check Windows power settings. There is a good chance it is set to run on a high-performance plan and if this is the case switch it back to a balanced power setting. Power plan like high performance will drain more power and more power will mean more heating. Of course, this will affect performance as well but for regular work that excludes some power gaming, video, and picture manipulations and other demanding tasks this power plan will work just fine.
Take control of the fans inside your laptop
Internal cooling is important and sometimes fans are not running to their full capacity so increasing their speed or changing their plan of work can cool down the computer nicely. Some laptops have fans controlling application already on them, especially gaming laptops but most of them do not. If your laptop does not have it, go to your laptop brand website and see if such an application exists for your model, if it does, download and install it but if there is no such application try general free ones like SpeedFan or Argus Monitor.
Reduce voltage of CPU and GPU
How more power means more heat, reducing the power that CPU and/or GPU take can be reduced inside BIOS by lowering voltage of these 2 components. First, go to BIOS and write down the voltage that is currently assigned to your CPU and/or GPU so you can bring it back if ever needed, also take note that reducing voltage and thus power will not affect negatively your components but increasing it thus overclocking can and will so be careful when bringing voltage back not to overdo it. You can always also reset your BIOS settings to bring them back to factory settings.
Do not use the laptop when charging it
When the laptop is placed on the charger in order to be charged and used at the same time, more power is drawn to it, and since the battery is taking electric charge instead of providing it more heat will be generated now since two different sources will be generating it, the battery itself and computer. When you really can not wait for the laptop to be charged, use it, but turn it off and wait to be fully charged if you can.
If you are trying to run a Windows Service like the Diagnostic Policy Service and encounter an error instead that says, “Windows could not start the Diagnostic Policy Service”, worry not for this post will guide you on what you can do of the Diagnostic Policy Service is not running in your Windows 10 computer.
As you know, the Diagnostic Policy Service enables problem detection, troubleshooting, and resolution for Windows components on your Windows operating system. When you encounter this kind of problem, you will also see the “Access is denied” error message. This occurs when the “MpsSvc” process does not have the permissions needed for the Registry keys. This kind of problem happens when the TrustedInstaller account is missing the permissions for a Registry key and so to fix this issue, you need to take full control and ownership of the Registry keys.
You need to create a System Restore point first before you get started. This way, you can always undo the changes you’re about to make in case anything goes wrong. Once you’re done creating a System Restore point, refer to the following instructions to fix the “Windows could not start the Diagnostic Policy Service” error.
Step 1: Tap the Win + R key combination to open the Run utility.
Step 2: Type in “Regedit” in the field and tap Enter to open the Registry Editor.
Step 3: After opening the Registry Editor, navigate to this registry path:
Step 4: After that, look for the “Parameters” registry key and select Permissions.
Step 5: Now select your account under Group or user names.
Step 6: Next, make sure that the “Full Control” and “Read” boxes are both checked, and then click on the Apply and OK buttons to save the changes.
Step 7: Afterwards, navigate to this registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetControlWDIConfig
Step 8: From there, look for the Config key and right-click on it and select Permissions and then click on Add and type “NT Service/DPS in the box and click OK.
Step 9: Now select “DPS” and check the Full control box, click OK and exit the Registry Editor.
Step 10: Reboot your computer and check if the error is now fixed.
