MyImageConverter Removal Guide for Windows

This toolbar/web browser extension is ad/search-supported that is typically installed as an optional offer, users generally have this bundled with 3rd party software. During setup, this toolbar will modify the home page and new tab pages to the affiliate search portal MyWay.com using a primary search engine to collect shared search revenue. It will also modify the default search provider as well.
While this extension is installed users will experience a display of additional ads and sponsored content throughout their browsing sessions, as well as the possibility of pop-up ads.
Several anti-virus scanners have marked this extension as a Browser Hijacker and it is recommended to remove it from your computer.

About Browser Hijackers

Browser hijacking means that a malicious code has taken control over and altered the settings of your internet browser, without your consent. They are designed to interfere with browser programs for a variety of purposes. Usually, it’ll drive users to predetermined websites that are looking to increase their advertising campaign income. Though it may seem naive, all browser hijackers are damaging and thus always regarded as security risks. In a worst-case scenario, your internet browser can be hijacked to download malicious software that can do a great deal of damage to your laptop or computer.

How to know if your internet browser has been hijacked

The common symptoms that indicate having this malicious software on your PC are:
1. home page is modified
2. bookmark and the new tab are likewise modified
3. default online search engine is changed
4. you’re getting new toolbars you have never found before
5. your internet browser displays endless pop-up ads
6. your web browser has become unstable or starts running slowly
7. you can’t visit certain websites like homepages of anti-malware software.

Exactly how browser hijacker finds its way onto your computer system

Browser hijackers can enter a computer by some means or other, including via downloads, file sharing, and e-mail also. They may also come from any BHO, extension, add-on, toolbar, or plug-in with malicious intent. Browser hijackers sneak into your pc in addition to free software application downloads that you unintentionally install alongside the original. Some of the most popular hijackers are MyImageConverter, Conduit Search, Babylon Toolbar, Sweet Page, OneWebSearch, and CoolWebSearch.

Learn how to get rid of browser hijackers

Certain hijackers could be removed by just uninstalling the related freeware or add-ons through the Add or Remove Programs in the Windows control panel. In some cases, it could be a difficult job to find and remove the malicious piece because the associated file could be running as part of the operating system process. Besides, browser hijackers can modify the Windows registry so it can be quite tough to restore all the values manually, especially when you are not a very tech-savvy person.

You can choose automatic browser hijacker removal by just installing and running an efficient anti-malware program. SafeBytes Anti-Malware detects all types of hijackers – including MyImageConverter – and eliminates every trace quickly and efficiently. In addition to anti-virus software, a PC optimizer program, like Total System Care, can help you fix Windows registry errors, remove unwanted toolbars, secure your internet privacy, and boost overall computer performance.

What to Do if Virus Stops You From Downloading Or Installing Antivirus?

Practically all malware is bad, but certain types of malware do much more damage to your PC than others. Some malware variants alter web browser settings by adding a proxy server or change the PC’s DNS configuration settings. In such cases, you’ll be unable to visit some or all of the websites, and therefore not able to download or install the required security software to clear out the computer virus. If you are reading this now, you might have perhaps realized that virus infection is a reason behind your blocked net connectivity. So how to proceed if you need to install an anti-virus software like Safebytes? Follow the instructions below to remove malware by alternate methods.

Download the software in Safe Mode with Networking

The Windows operating system comes with a special mode referred to as “Safe Mode” in which only the minimum required programs and services are loaded. In the event the malware is blocking internet connection and affecting your computer, running it in Safe Mode enables you to download anti-virus and run a diagnostic scan whilst limiting potential damage. To get into Safe Mode or Safe Mode with Networking, press F8 while the system is booting up or run MSCONFIG and locate the “Safe Boot” options in the “Boot” tab. Once you are in safe mode, you can try to install your anti-malware application without the hindrance of the malware. Now, you can run the antivirus scan to get rid of viruses and malware without hindrance from another malicious application.

Download the security software using an alternate internet browser

Some malware only targets particular web browsers. If this sounds like your situation, utilize another web browser as it might circumvent the virus. If you seem to have a trojan attached to Internet Explorer, then switch to an alternate web browser with built-in safety features, such as Firefox or Chrome, to download your preferred anti-malware program – Safebytes.

Install anti-malware on a USB drive

Another option would be to make a portable antivirus program on your USB flash drive. To run anti-malware from a USB pen drive, follow these simple measures:
1) On a virus-free computer, download and install Safebytes Anti-Malware.
2) Plug the USB drive into the clean computer.
3) Double-click on the downloaded file to open the installation wizard.
4) Select the drive letter of the flash drive as the location when the wizard asks you exactly where you want to install the antivirus. Follow the on-screen instructions to finish the installation process.
5) Transfer the flash drive from the uninfected computer to the infected computer.
6) Double-click the Safebytes Anti-malware icon on the USB drive to run the software.
7) Hit the “Scan” button to run a full computer scan and remove viruses automatically.

Windows 11 slows down some SSD drives
In the latest Windows 11 fiasco, it is reported that the operating system is slowing down some SSD drives. Good thing is that it does not affect all of SSD on the market but the ones which it is affecting can see even a 45% of speed drop. ssd driveMicrosoft has not published a solution to this issue, but users point out two potential problems. The first is a security mechanism based on disk virtualization, which is supposed to slow down the performance of SSDs. The second, in turn, is related to the place of installation of Windows 11 – users indicate that if the performance test is performed on a medium with no files associated with the system, its performance results are similar to the parameters given by the manufacturer. Transfer speeds were to be slightly improved with the latest Windows 11 update 22000.348. However, users are still waiting for a solution to the problem that significantly reduces the efficiency of SSD media.

System32 Folder Keeps Popping up at Startup
The System32 folder contains vital configuration and information that are essential to the operating system. It is located inside the “Windows” folder and it consists of important DLL files as well as executable files. You probably have noticed some errors that have the “System32” word in them but that does not necessarily mean that the System32 folder is the one that triggers them as these kinds of errors have only occurred when some important files are corrupted or missing. Some users recently reported that each time they start their computers, the System32 folder will automatically open up in the File Explorer. If you encounter the same problem, read on as this post will guide you on what to do to fix it. This kind of issue is most likely caused by service or application interference – it is possible that there is a third-party application installed in your computer or a Windows service that triggers the System32 to pop up during startup. It is also possible that this is a result of system modification. Thus, you need to identify the third-party program or restore your computer to its previous state.

Option 1 – Put your computer in a Clean Boot State

As pointed out, it is possible that some third-party program or service is the one that’s behind the problem. To isolate this possibility and to identify the culprit, you have to put your computer into a Clean Boot State. To do so, follow the steps below.
  • Log onto your PC as an administrator.
  • Type in MSConfig in the Start Search to open the System Configuration utility.
  • From there, go to the General tab and click “Selective startup”.
  • Clear the “Load Startup items” check box and make sure that the “Load System Services” and “Use Original boot configuration” options are checked.
  • Next, click the Services tab and select the “Hide All Microsoft Services” check box.
  • Click Disable all.
  • Click on Apply/OK and restart your PC. (This will put your PC into a Clean Boot State. And configure Windows to use the usual startup, just simply undo the changes.)
After putting your PC in a Clean Boot State, try creating a system restore point and see if the problem still occurs. Clean Boot troubleshooting is designed to help you isolate the problem. For you to execute a clean boot troubleshooting, you must do a couple of actions (the steps given above) and then restart your PC after every action. You might have to disable one third-party app after the other to really isolate the issue. And once you’ve narrowed down the problem, you can either disable the third-party app that’s causing the problem or remove it. Note that you must switch your PC back into the Normal Startup mode after you’re done troubleshooting the problem. Here’s how you can do it:
  • From the “Start” menu, go to System Configuration.
  • After that, switch to the General tab and click the option for “Normal Startup”.
  • Next, go to the Services tab and clear the checkbox for “Hide all Microsoft services”.
  • Then find and click “Enable all” and if prompted, you have to confirm.
  • Afterward, go to the Task Manager and enable all the Startup programs and confirm the action.
  • Restart your PC when prompted.

Option 2 – Perform System Restore

  • First, press the Win + R keys to open the Run dialog box.
  • After that, type in “sysdm.cpl” in the field and tap Enter.
  • Next, go to the System Protection tab then click the System Restore button. This will open a new window where you have to select your preferred System Restore point.
  • After that, follow the on-screen instructions to finish the process and then restart your computer and check if the problem is fixed or not.

Option 3 – Run System File Checker scan

You might also try running the System File Checker or SFC scan to fix the issue. System File Checker is a command utility built into your computer that helps restore corrupted files and missing files. Refer to the following steps to run it:
  • Hit the Win + R keys to launch Run.
  • Type in cmd in the field and tap Enter.
  • After opening Command Prompt, type in sfc /scannow
The command will start a system scan which will take a few whiles before it finishes. Once it’s done, you could get the following results:
  1. Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations.
  2. Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files and successfully repaired them.
  3. Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them.
Restart your computer and see if the System32 folder still pops up at startup or not.

How to Fix Entry Point not Found Dll Errors

What is ‘Entry Point not found dll’ Error?

Entry Point not found dll errors are common in Windows PC. These errors indicate poor PC maintenance. An entry point is basically the memory address inside the dynamic link library. It contains the call being made. A dynamic link library on the other hand is a collection of small programs which use and request this call to run and load programs successfully on your PC. However, when this process is unable to be executed successfully, you come across ‘entry point not found dll’ error messages.

Solution

Restoro box imageError Causes

Generally speaking, some of the typical causes of ‘entry point not found dll’ errors are:
  • Missing, corrupted, and damaged dll files
  • Registry overloaded with invalid entries
  • Disk fragmentation
  • Viral infection
It is advisable to resolve these ‘entry point not found dll’ errors on your PC immediately because dll errors can cause you a great deal of inconvenience as you may be locked out and unable to access your desired programs. Furthermore, if dll errors are left unresolved, such errors can expose your PC to serious threats like system failure, system damage, corruption, and crash.

Further Information and Manual Repair

Though ‘entry point not found dll’ errors are critical errors but the good news is that these can be easily resolved. To fix dll errors on your PC, you don’t always have to hire a professional technician or be a computer programmer yourself. Here are some of the best DIY (do it yourself) ways to resolve ‘entry point not found dll’ errors on your system:

1. Reinstall the Deleted Program

This method to resolve ‘entry point not found dll’ error code is very basic. It is advisable to uninstall and then reinstall the deleted program to retrieve the missing or deleted dll files. Here’s why: dll files are shared files. There are multiple programs on your PC that may be using one type of dll file to load. Now when you uninstall a program that you no more need on your PC, chances are that it may also delete that particular dll file. And when this happens the other programs supported by the deleted dll file are unable to load. Therefore, in such an event the best way to retrieve the missing dll file is to uninstall the program that displays the errors message and then reinstall it. This will help you restore the missing dll file and run the program successfully.

2. Install an Antivirus and a Registry Cleaner

As mentioned above, ‘entry point not found dll’ errors indicate poor PC maintenance. If you don’t maintain your system, the registry overloads with bad and invalid entries, redundant and obsolete files, junk files and cookies. These files acquire a lot of space which damages dll files and the registry. Furthermore, due to data volume overload and less storage space, files are then saved in different places. This is also known as disk fragmentation. When these files are called, it takes a lot of time for the disk to consolidate fragmented data and execute the function successfully. To resolve these issues, you need to clean and restore the registry. Though this can be done manually it may be slightly complicated and time consuming therefore it is advisable to install and run a registry cleaner.

Restoro.

In addition to this, due to poor PC maintenance, viruses and malware can also enter your system unknowingly through file downloads and phishing emails. These can also damage dll files. To remove viruses and malware from your PC it is important to run an anti-virus. Instead of downloading both tools separately on your system, we recommend Restoro. This is a multi-functional and advanced PC fixer embedded with an intuitive algorithm and a user-friendly interface. It includes multiple utilities including a powerful antivirus, a high functional registry cleaner, and Active X controls and class scanner. It also functions as a system optimizer. Remove the blue and yellow shield icon
If you suddenly see a system icon or an application icon that has a blue and yellow shield or icon overlay at the corner, this indicates that the application has to run with admin privileges and each time you run these kinds of applications, a UAC or User Account Control prompt will appear to confirm if you really want to run the application. Although this kind of behavior is for security reasons, it can get quite annoying especially if you use the application on a daily basis. To make it convenient for you, this post will walk you through how you can remove the blue and yellow shield icon from an application on your Windows 10 computer. The User Account Control or UAC setting is the one that ensures no program can run with administrative privileges unless it is allowed by the user. This stops any program that could be potentially harmful to the computer from making any changes which are why keeping this setting to its default state is for the best and making any changes in its setting is not recommended unless it is really needed. So if you really have to remove the icon overlay in an application, there are several ways you can do that. You can try reinstalling the program and set Compatibility or change the UAC level. For more information, refer to every option given below.

Option 1 – Try to reinstall the application and set Compatibility

As you know, the application icons where you can see the shields are shortcuts mostly and they signify that the User Account Control will appear each time you launch the app. Thus, if you have an app that you use regularly and you’re certain that the app can be trusted, you can try to reinstall the app and set its compatibility by following these steps:
  • You need to uninstall the app first and then install its latest version. You must not run or open the app after you reinstall it, not until you’ve completed the steps.
  • Next, you have to right-click on the shortcut icon of the app, and from the menu, select Properties.
  • Afterward, go to the Compatibility tab and look for the checkbox labeled “Run this program as an administrator” and uncheck it.
  • Now click on the Apply and OK buttons to save the changes made. This should remove the shield icon from the app.

Option 2 – Try changing the UAC level

  • Tap the Win + Q to open the search bar and type UAC to see the User Account Control setting.
  • From the UAC setting, lower the UAC level by selecting the settings that say, “Notify only when apps try to make changes to my computer”.
  • After selecting that option, you shouldn’t be getting any warning now when you run the app with the shield icon. But keep in mind that this is not a temporary setting which can be risky especially if the app can’t be trusted.

It’s a fact that due to downtime victims may has to pay a cost of ten thousand dollars daily. As, Ransomware is becoming more and more widespread, so all companies require to brush up on their annual cyber-security goals. Moreover, approach for some appropriate implementations of Ransomware recovery plans and commit sufficient funds in their IT budgets for cyber-security resources. Among the most effective impact of Ransomware, “data encryption” is very hard to deal with. Meanwhile, this victim is completely restricted to access any of their encrypted data. The only way for unlocking these encrypted files is through the decryption key which only belongs to hackers. Many times, the decryption key is given to the organization, after the payment of the ransom. But there are also some cases when data is not handover to the victim, even after the ransom payment. 2. Up to how extent, the impact of Ransomware has spread
  3. How fast the Ransomware attack was spotted.
However, in many cases, data gets so encrypted that you can’t revert back to the restore point. At that time external backup is considered the best option. Among the wide-reaching impact of Ransomware “Data loss” is the most effective one.  As it starts from little disruption and leads to permanent business failure. Sometimes data loss in a Ransomware attack leads to disclosure of all your confidential information which ends up in fines and lawsuits. Attackers always look for backup files and folders after encrypting your system data. So that user can’t retrieve their corrupted file from the backup. Such dreadful activities make this Ransomware threat so profitable and effective. Victims don’t have any choice left either they have to pay the ransom or they have to face their risk of data loss.

How to remove FindYourMaps from Windows

FindYourMaps is a Google Chrome Browser Extension developed by Mindspark. This extension hijacks your home page and new tab page changing them to MyWebSearch.com in order to display ads more efficiently.

While using this extension you will see additional pop-up ads, sponsored content, and unwanted ads (that are sometimes not ever relative to your search query) displayed throughout your browsing sessions, cluttering up the pages and sometimes even going over page parts, making some pages unreadable.

Several anti-virus applications have marked this Extension as a Browser Hijacker due to its data mining behaviors and ad injections and were marked for removal by most of them.

About Browser Hijackers

Browser hijacking is a very common type of internet fraud where your web browser configurations are modified to allow it to do things you never intend. Practically most browser hijackers are made for advertising or marketing purposes. These are typically used to force visitors to a specific website, manipulating web traffic to generate ad revenue. However, it is not that innocent. Your web safety is jeopardized and it is extremely annoying. What’s more, hijackers will make the whole infected system fragile – other harmful malware and viruses would use these opportunities to get into your system very easily.

Indications of browser hijack

There are many symptoms that indicate the browser is highjacked: your home page is reset to some unknown site; you observe new unwanted favorites or bookmarks added, typically directed to ad-filled or porn websites; The default search page of your web browser is modified; you see many toolbars on the browser; you observe numerous ads show up on the browsers or display screen; your browser has instability issues or displays frequent errors; you cannot go to specific sites such as home pages of security software.

How it infects your computer

A browser hijacker could be installed on your PC when you check out an infected website, click an e-mail attachment, or download something from a file-sharing website. They also come from add-on programs, also known as browser helper objects (BHO), web browser plug-ins, or toolbars. A browser hijacker could also come bundled up with some free application which you inadvertently download and install the browser hijack, compromising your PC security. Browser hijackers can record user keystrokes to gather potentially invaluable information leading to privacy concerns, cause instability on computers, drastically disrupt user’s browsing experience, and ultimately slow down the system to a point where it will become unusable.

How to fix a browser hijack

The one thing you can try to remove a browser hijacker is to locate the malware inside the “Add or Remove Programs” list of the Windows Control Panel. It may or may not be there. When it is, uninstall it. But, many hijacking codes aren’t very easy to remove manually, as they go much deeper into your operating system. On top of that, manual removal demands you to carry out several time-consuming and tricky procedures that are very hard to carry out for novice computer users. Anti-malware application is incredibly efficient when it comes to picking up and eliminating browser hijackers that standard anti-virus software has overlooked. Safebytes Anti-Malware features a state-of-the-art anti-malware engine to help you avoid browser hijacking in the first place, and clean up any pre-existing problems. Along with the anti-virus tool, a system optimizer, like SafeBytes’s Total System Care, could help you in deleting all associated files and modifications in the computer registry automatically.
