BringMeSports is a browser extension developed by Mindspark Inc. that lets you watch live sports streams, follow sports scores, and catch up on the latest news from the sports world.
BringMeSports installs an extension into your browser that replaces your default home page with the MyWebSearch starting page, it also replaces your default search engine, shows additional ads, and while running, collects personal and web browsing data that is later sent back to be Sold / Forwarded to serve ads. While browsing the internet with this extension installed, you will see additional ads and sponsored links appear in your search results. It may even show pop-up ads.

Fix Chrome ERR_SOCKET_NOT_CONNECTED
Recently, a number of users reported an error in Google Chrome that says, “ERR_SOCKET_NOT_CONNECTED”. If you are one of these users, read on as this post will guide you in resolving this error. This kind of error in Chrome is kind of vague so it could be caused by a couple of factors like DNS server issues, Socket Pools, third-party plugins or extensions, and many more. Whatever the cause may be, there are several options you can check out to resolve the problem. You can try to flush the Socket Pool or change the DNS address or remove unwanted extensions or reset your Google Chrome browser.

Option 1 – Try to flush the Socket Pool

  • Open Google Chrome and in the address bar, type “chrome://net-internals/”.
  • After that, select Sockets on the left side panel.
  • Next, select Flush socket pools from the right-side panel.
  • And once it’s done, restart your Chrome browser and check if the “ERR_SOCKET_NOT_CONNECTED” is fixed or not.

Option 2 – Try to change the DNS Server

In this option, you can try changing your current DNS settings to the Google Public DNS as it could also help in fixing the “ERR_SOCKET_NOT_CONNECTED” error. To do so, follow the steps below.
  • The first thing you have to do is right-click on the network icon in the Taskbar and select Network and Sharing Center.
  • Next, click on the “Change Adapter Settings” option.
  • After that, search for the network connection that you are using to connect to the internet. Note that the option might be “Wireless Connection” or “Local Area Connection”.
  • Right-click on your network connection and click on Properties.
  • Then select the new window to choose the “Internet Protocol 4 (TCP/IPv4)” option.
  • After that, click on the Properties button and click the checkbox in the new window for the option “Use the following DNS server addresses”.
  • Type in “8.8.8.8” and “8.8.4.4” and click OK and exit.

Option 3 – Get rid of any conflicting browser extensions

  • Open Chrome and press Alt + F keys.
  • Go to More tools and click Extensions to look for any suspicious browser extensions or toolbars.
  • Click the Recycle bin and select Remove.
  • Restart Chrome and press Alt + F keys again.
  • Proceed to On Startup and mark Open a specific page or set of pages.
  • To check if the browser hijacker is still active, click Set pages, if it is active, overwrite the URL.

Option 4 – Try to reset Google Chrome

Before you proceed, make sure that the Chrome browser is not running anywhere in the background via Task Manager. Once you’ve made sure that it’s no longer running, refer to these steps:
  • Tap the Win + R keys to open the Run dialog box.
  • Then type “%USERPROFILE%AppDataLocalGoogleChromeUser Data” in the field and tap Enter to open this location.
  • From there, look for the Default folder and then tap the Shift + Delete button and if a confirmation prompt appears, click on Yes.
  • After deleting the Default folder, open Google Chrome and click on the three vertical dots icon located in the top-right corner to open the menu.
  • Next, click on Settings and scroll down and then click on Advanced to open the Advanced Settings.
  • Then scroll down until you see the “Reset and clean up” section and click the “Restore Settings to their original defaults” option.
  • After that, you will see a confirmation box and from there, click on the Reset settings button to reset your Google Chrome browser.

Solution 1: Install-Package in an Un-Encrypted Folder

Try installing the package to a folder that is not encrypted. However, if the error still persists, try other solutions listed below.

Solution 2: Enable Full System Control Permissions

Sometimes the error may occur when you don’t have system full control permissions. To enjoy full control permissions here’s what you need to do, go to my computer and right-click the drive that you wish to install the Windows Installer Package to. After that click properties and the security tab. If you can’t locate the security tab, this means your Simple File Sharing feature is turned on. You need to turn it off to continue. For that go to my computer, tools, and then click folder options. Now here press the view tab and check the Simple File Sharing box to turn it off. Press OK to save changes. Now you will be able to locate the security tab. Click on the Security tab and verify the name box that contains the system user account. If the system user account is empty then insert the account name. To insert, click Add, and then select user's dialog box, add a name, and close. Now go to the permissions section and check the box ‘Allow’ under full control. After that go to the ‘Advanced’ tab and do the following: If you are an XP user, select ‘Replace permission entries on all child objects with entries shown here that apply to child objects’ and then press OK to confirm. If you are not an XP user, then follow the same instructions but select the check box that says ‘Reset permissions on all child objects and enable propagation of inheritable permissions’ for the system account. Now click OK to confirm. To activate changes you will have to wait for a while. Once the changes are activated, try installing the Windows Installer package again.

Fix Chrome ERR QUIC PROTOCOL ERROR in Windows
If you aren’t able to pull up any website and instead got the ERR QUIC PROTOCOL ERROR error message in Google Chrome then read on as this post will help you resolve the problem. When you encounter such an error in Chrome, you will see the following error message:
“This site can’t be reached, The webpage at [website URL] might be temporarily down or it may have moved permanently to a new web address, ERR_QUIC_PROTOCOL_ERROR”

Option 1 – Try to disable the QUIC Protocol

QUIC is an experimental transport layer network protocol that is present in Google Chrome in order to establish a connection between two endpoints over UDP. So if there is any problem on the development side, you will most likely encounter ERR_QUIC_PROTOCOL_ERROR on your Google Chrome browser when you try to open any website. Thus, you have to disable the QUIC protocol in order to resolve the error. How? Simply follow the steps below.
  • Open your Google Chrome browser.
  • Now type in “chrome://flags/” in the address bar and hit Enter.
  • After that, look for the Experimental QUIC protocol which should be set by default.
  • Then expand the drop-down menu and select Disable.
  • Restart Google Chrome and see if the error is fixed or not.

Option 2 – Disable VPN

As mentioned, if you are using VPN, this could be the reason why you’re getting the Windows Update error 0x800F0922 so the most obvious thing to do is for you to turn off the VPN and try to run the Windows Update once more. And if you use a VPN software that works using their software, you can just completely exit or log-off from its account. On the other hand, if you are using a built-in Windows 10 VPN, you can simply turn it off or delete all the settings you have created there. Although it’s understandable that you might have to use a VPN connection to connect to the work network, you really have to disable it at least until the Windows Update is no longer stuck in the error 0x800F0922. It would be best if you do this when you are not working.

Option 3 – Disable the Proxy server

You can also try to disable the Proxy server to fix the ERR_QUIC_PROTOCOL_ERROR in Chrome. Refer to these steps to do so:
  • Tap the Win + R keys to open the Run dialog box.
  • Then type “inetcpl.cpl” in the field and hit Enter to pull up the Internet Properties.
  • After that, go to the Connections tab and select the LAN settings.
  • From there. Uncheck the “Use a Proxy Server” option for your LAN and then make sure that the “Automatically detect settings” option is checked.
  • Now click the OK and the Apply buttons.
  • Restart your PC.
Note: If you are using a third-party proxy service, you have to disable it.
