Microsoft Store not opening

When Windows 10 was introduced as an upgrade to Windows 7 and 8, a lot were thrilled because of its new features. One of the most interesting features that this has is the Microsoft Store. Just like in our tablets and smartphones, we can now download our favorite apps from a trusted source. Without the Microsoft store app, you can’t download any applications that you can use on your computer. But what happens if you can’t open your Microsoft Store or you accidentally uninstalled it?

The most common error that users encounter when accessing Microsoft Store is the error code 0x80072efd. This error code appears when there is a problem with the internet connection. To resolve this, troubleshoot your modem by doing a simple power cycle. Turn off your modem and wait for a couple of minutes and turn it back on. It should refresh your internet. This works if there is really no problem on the Service provider’s side.

Disable your Proxy server, if you are using one to access the internet. To do this, press Windows + R keys on your keyboard. Type “inetcpl.cpl” in the box and go to Connection. Next, click on LAN settings then tick on the box next to Automatically detect settings. Uncheck the box below Proxy Server

Among the useful apps that came with the Windows 10 upgrade is PowerShell. It allows you to install and uninstall individual and all apps by using a series of commands. So you don’t have to worry if you can’t find your Microsoft Store or if you accidentally delete it.

To access PowerShell, type in the word PowerShell into the search box found beside your Window Icon. Look for PowerShell from the results and right-click on it and hit Run as Administrator.

When you are in the PowerShell window, enter the command below:

Get-AppxPackage -allusers Microsoft.WindowsStore | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)AppXManifest.xml"

Another option is to download a Windows Update Troubleshooter. After you download it, open the troubleshooter tool and follow the steps. If you saved the file instead of directly opening it, go to the folder where the troubleshooter was saved and double click on the wu.diagcab file to rub the troubleshooter.

One of the most interesting error codes that you might encounter when accessing the Microsoft store is error code 1. This particular error code is resolved by changing your PC’s region to the United States. To do this, go to Settings and look for Time & Language. Then go to region and language. Under the Country or region, choose the United States from the dropdown menu then restart your computer.

The troubleshooting procedures above are the most common solution to resolve the problem on Microsoft Store issues but there are times that these procedures won’t work. If you are not confident to resolve this through the procedures mentioned in this article, there are so many tools online that you can download to help you out. It also helps to contact Microsoft or consult a technician to ensure that you are doing the correct procedure.

The error code 12 occurs when 2 devices installed on your PC are accidentally assigned the same I/O (input/output) ports or the same direct memory access channel.

This assignment is known to be made either by BIOS (Basic Input/output system) or by the operating system. It can sometimes be assigned by a combination of the two. Also, code 12 can also appear on your monitor screen if the BIOS didn’t allocate enough resources to the device.

Although this error code is not fatal, it is nonetheless advisable to fix it immediately to avoid inconvenience and hassle. This error is most likely to lower and hamper the performance of your system.

Further Information and Manual Repair

To disable, go to the Device Properties in the Device Manager and then click the Driver tab. Click disable located at the bottom of the window. Then you will be prompted with a message stating ‘Disabling this device will cause it to stop functioning. Do you wish to disable it?’ Click yes to continue and then click OK to save changes.

Another method to resolve error code 12 is to restore your PC to its previous state when it was working properly.

For this, it is important to backup all your data first to avoid data loss issues that are likely to occur during this process. Creating backups manually can be a time-consuming and tedious task. To save time and quicken the process, it is best to install a program like DriverFIX.

How to Fix Windows 8 Error Code 0xd0000272

Error Code 0xd0000272 – What is it?

Error code 0xd0000272 occurs when Windows users are unable to activate their operating system. This usually occurs due to activation servers being busy or unavailable and affects Windows 8, Windows 8.1, and Windows 10 users. Common symptoms of the error code include the following:
  • Inability to activate Windows operating system
  • Message box with error code 0xd0000272

Solution

Restoro box imageError Causes

Windows users affected by error code 0xd0000272 usually receive a message stating that the “activation server is busy or unavailable”. Some users report the error is resolved on its own after a few hours, while others experience activation issues that resolve only after manual repair methods are implemented.

Further Information and Manual Repair

To improve your chances of resolving issues related to Windows activation error codes, use manual repair methods and procedures. These are often successful as they address the issues causing the error codes to occur, whether there be missing or corrupted system files, network connectivity issues, or invalid product keys.

Error code 0xd0000272 may be resolved by simply waiting until later – a few hours at most – to reattempt activation. If, however, the activation process fails, proceed with the methods suggested below or contact a Windows repair technician.

  1. Method One: Verify Internet Connection to Activate Windows

Are network connectivity issues preventing your machine from activating Windows? Check for this issue by verifying whether or not you are connected. Once you’ve been able to check your connection via your Internet settings and troubleshoot your network where necessary, proceed to the Product Activation Wizard.

The Product Activation Wizard will check if you have permission or authorized access to the version of Windows you are attempting to activate. This process usually involves the use of a product key. Once you enter the 25-character code – in the correct order, of course – proceed by selecting the activation option.

If the process is successful, you will be able to complete the activation and access all the features of the Windows edition you have activated. You will also notice the absence of the error code 0xd0000272 message. In cases where this manual repair method is unable to successfully resolve the issue, however, move to the next manual repair procedure on this list.

  1. Method Two: Run Windows Update Troubleshooter

Another tool available to Windows users is the Windows Update Troubleshooter. You may access the Windows Update Troubleshooter offered on Windows 8 since it does not require an internet connection and runs most of the functions required. To do so, follow the steps below.
  • Step one: Swipe to the right of the screen and click Search
  • Step two: Type Troubleshooting
  • Step three: Click Settings then select Troubleshooting
  • Step four: Under System & Security, click Fix Problems with Windows Update
  • Step five: Select Next

You can also visit Microsoft’s website to access a more comprehensive Windows Update Troubleshoot tool. Download the troubleshooter and run it to fix problems related to Windows Update. Afterward, restart your computer then check the Product Activation Wizard to verify whether or not you can activate Windows 8 or 8.1.  If the problem persists, however, and error code 0xd0000272 reoccurs, proceed to the third manual repair method.

  1. Method Three: Disable Proxy Settings

Your computer’s proxy settings may in some cases interfere with the activation process, resulting in issues like error code 0xd0000272. To fix this problem, first, disable your proxy setting then reattempt the activation process using the Product Activation Wizard.

  • Step one: Press Win + C keyboard combination
  • Step two: Select Settings
  • Step three: Click Change PC Settings
  • Step four: Select Network, then Proxy
  • Step six: Switch proxy server settings to Off

Open the Product Activation Wizard once you’ve disabled the proxy settings. Complete the activation process based on the instructions provided. If you are successful, you will no longer be bothered by error code 0xd0000272 as the symptoms of the error code will not occur.

If, however, this manual repair method fails to resolve the error code, you may need to consider other alternatives. These may include the use of a powerful automated tool. You can also consider getting help from a Windows repair technician as such professionals are able to assess your computer and provide solutions as needed.

How to Get Rid of GifsGalore

The GifsGalore Toolbar from Mindspark Interactive Network, Inc. is proposed to active Web users who like to embed GIFs into their emails and share entertaining GIFs with friends via social media services. The GifsGalore software can be added to your Internet client for free but you need to be using Google Chrome, Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox for the GifsGalore Toolbar to be activated.

When installed it hijacks your New tab page and default search engine changing them to search.myway.com. This extension also monitors user browsing activity recording information such as: visited websites, clicked links, viewed products, etc. This information is later used to better target ads. While browsing the internet with this extension enabled you will see additional pop-up ads, as well as sponsored links and injected ads throughout your browsing session, especially in search results.

About Browser Hijackers

Browser hijacking is actually a form of unwanted software program, often a browser add-on or extension, which causes modifications in web browser’s settings. There are various reasons why you may experience an internet browser hijack; however commercial, advertising, and marketing are definitely the main reasons for their creation. The idea would be to force users to visit specific sites that are aiming to improve their site visitor traffic and generate higher ad earnings. It could seem naive, but most of these sites are not legitimate and could present a serious risk to your online safety. Browser hijackers can even let other vicious programs without your knowledge further damage the computer.

Find out how to identify a browser hijack

When your web browser is hijacked, the following can happen: the browser’s homepage is modified; bookmark and the new tab are also changed; the default search engine has been changed and your browser security settings have been lowered without your knowledge; you see unwanted new toolbars added; unstoppable flurries of popup ads appear on your computer screen; your web browser gets sluggish, buggy, crashes very often; you are prohibited access to particular web pages, including the site of an anti-malware software developer like SafeBytes.

How browser hijacker finds its way onto your computer system

Browser hijackers might use drive-by downloads or file-sharing networks or perhaps an email attachment to reach a targeted computer. They may also come from any BHO, browser extension, toolbar, add-on, or plug-in with malicious purpose. Other times you might have unintentionally accepted a browser hijacker as part of an application package (usually freeware or shareware). Examples of well-known browser hijackers are Fireball, CoolWebSearch. save, Ask Toolbar, RocketTab, and Babylon Toolbar.

Removal

Some browser hijacking could be quite easily reversed by discovering and removing the corresponding malware software from your control panel. Yet, certain hijackers are far harder to find or eliminate since they might get themselves associated with some crucial computer files that enable them to operate as a necessary operating system process. Additionally, manual removals demand deep system knowledge and therefore can be a very difficult job for novices. Installing and running an anti-malware program on the affected computer could automatically erase browser hijackers and other malicious applications. Safebytes Anti-Malware has a sophisticated anti-malware engine to help you prevent browser hijacking in the first place, and mop up any pre-existing problems. And use a PC optimizer, like Total System Care, to get rid of all related files in the registry and repair browser issues.

At this point, you could run the antivirus scan to remove computer viruses and malware without any interference from another application.

Download the security software using an alternate web browser

Web-based viruses can be environment-specific, aiming for a particular browser or attacking specific versions of the browser. If you are not able to download the anti-malware software program using Internet Explorer, it means the virus could be targeting IE’s vulnerabilities. Here, you should switch over to a different browser like Firefox or Chrome to download the Safebytes Anti-malware program.

Install and run antivirus from your USB drive

Another solution is to create a portable anti-malware program onto your USB stick. Adopt these measures to run the antivirus on the affected computer system. 1) Make use of another virus-free computer to download Safebytes Anti-Malware. 2) Plug the Thumb drive into the uninfected computer. 3) Double click on the executable file to run the installation wizard. 4) Select flash drive as the place when the wizard asks you where you wish to install the software. To run it just click on the Start button and select Settings > Updates and Security > Troubleshoot. From there, select the Search and Indexing Troubleshooter.

Option 2 – Restart Cortana’s process in the Task Manager

After Cortana is off, you can decide what you’d like to do with anything still stored in the cloud” option. Turn this option off.
