• To get started, tap on the Windows key + R to pull up the Run box.
• Next, type in “MSC” in the box to open the Device Manager.
• After opening the Device Manager, go to the “Sound, video, and game controllers” option then right-click on the sound card.
• Finally, click on Uninstall and tick the box with a label that says, “Delete the driver software for this device” and close the Device Manager.
• Restart your computer and check if the problem’s fixed or not.

Note: After you restart your computer, the system should reinstall the speaker automatically. But if it does not reinstall, you can follow the aforementioned steps again to go to the Device Manager. From there, go back to “Sound, video, and Game Controllers” and right-click on the sound card. After that, enabling the sound card and restart your computer once more. That should fix the problem.

Option 4 – Try updating the Intel Smart Sound Technology Audio Control driver

If the three options given above didn’t fix the error, you might want to try updating the Intel Smart Sound Technology Audio Control driver. To do so, follow these steps:

• Tap the Win + X keys and select the Device Manager option from the menu.
• Next, scroll down and click on the System Devices option and select the “Intel Smart Sound Technology Audio Control” option.

• From there, right-click on the file named “mcupdate_GenuineIntel.dll and click on Properties.
• Next, go to the Security tab and click on Advanced. In the Advanced section, change the Owner to your User Account and click OK.
• And then back to the Security tab, click on the Edit button and check on Full control to make sure that your User Account has all the privileges.
• Now click on Apply and then OK.
• After that, delete the file you saw earlier which is named mcupdate_Genuine.dll.
• Then close all the Windows File Explorer instances and go back to the Command Prompt window and unmounts the image you mounted before by typing the following command:

dism /Unmount-Image /MountDir:C:UsersUserDesktopmount /commit

• Afterward, repeat the steps from mounting up until here for these files:
  • wim /index:2
  • wim /index:1
  • wim /index:2
• Now delete the mount folder and remove the USB Pen Drive and then boot with the installer.

Option 2 – Try to perform a Disk Cleanup

As more and more people get into insider preview of upcoming Windows 11 we will see more and more different takes and opinions on it. New textures, effects, and resolutions are one thing that will come first into your focus when you start the game. From the moment game is started it feels and looks like a game you remember from a long time ago. Models are also upgraded with a higher polygon count. Another thing that will hit you right away is the legendary OST by Trent Reznor in its full glory. If you have the original Quake and played it you will know that OST was missing from the Steam release and having it fully back is a great feature. I would argue that placing just OST alone in the steam release is enough for people to play it again since it adds so much atmosphere. Deathmatch and other multiplayer goodies are all here as well and there is a completely free new episode in the game with several levels. Yes, you get a free Quake upgrade in HD with an extra episode completely free.

The bad side of Quake coin

So this might come as a purist or obsessive nit-picking but there were two things that I, personally am not a fan of and have noticed during my gameplay. Please know that this is personal preference and by no other chance reflects the quality of the game itself but I just had to talk about it. Quake remake is made in a new engine and as such dynamic and gunplay feel different from the original, granted they have done the best they could to replicate the authentic feeling of the original game but there are parts of the game where I have felt that simply put, it feels different. Another thing is also tied to technology and the overall game is somewhat a little brighter and in some areas little softer in dark areas. Like I said this is purely personal preference and might come as nitpicking but I preferred the darker and grittier look of the original game. Darkplaces, the free custom-made upgrade did this in my opinion better.
