  3. Reconfigure IP address

    Reboot your computer

  4. Restart DHCP client

    Press ⊞ WINDOWS + R to open the run dialog
    In run dialog type services.msc and click on OK
    Find DHCP client
    Right-click on it and choose Restart
    Reboot PC

  5. Reinstall Network Adapter

    Press ⊞ WINDOWS + X to open the windows menu
    Click on Device Manager
    Expand Network Adapter and right-click on wireless or ethernet adapter, click on Uninstall device
    Reboot the computer to automatically reinstall the device driver

  6. Reset IP and subnet mask

    Press ⊞ WINDOWS + R to open the run dialog
    In run dialog type in ncpa.cpl and press OK
    Right-click on your network adapter and select properties
    Uncheck Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6)
    Double click on Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)
    Select Use the following IP address and change it to 192.168.0.1
    Change Subnet mask to 255.255.255.0
    Leave default gateway blank
    Click OK to save changes

There are cases when you encounter some issues while updating your Windows 10 computer. One of these issues is the error 0x80240034. This particular error is a Windows Update Error that appears on the Windows Update pane every time an update fails to install. Option 2 – Update Windows via ISO file

If option 1 didn’t work for you, you can try this second option of updating your Windows 10 computer using an ISO file which means that you will have to create a Windows 10 bootable media and use it to install the latest Windows 10 version. The most user reported that this option works and the reason why it does have something to do with the Windows Update client since the Windows Updates downloaded from the regular Windows Update client seems to create issues such as the error 0x80240034. However, issues like this one don’t occur when the very same Windows Updates are downloaded and installed via an ISO file. Take note that when using a Windows ISO file, you will be asked to choose what you want to do with the previous settings and apps. Option 1 – Check if there is a physical switch on the storage device

To check, simply look for the physical switch on both sides of the device and once you found it, make sure that it is toggled off and then plug the storage device back in then try running Diskpart once again.

Option 2 – Modify the WriteProtected key in the Registry Editor

Before you proceed, you have to create a System Restore Point first.
  • Tap the Win + R keys to open Run and type “Regedit” in the field and hit Enter to open the Registry Editor.
  • Next, navigate to the following path:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetControlStorageDevicePolicies
  • After that, look for the “WriteProtect” registry entry which is located on the left side of the window, and then double click on it.
  • Change its value to “0” and click OK to save the changes made and exit the Registry Editor.

Option 3 – Run CHKDSK to check the drive for errors

When it comes to some issues concerning the hard drive or removable devices, there is a utility in Windows that might help which is called “chkdsk”. This error check utility can help with several issues in the system including the “Diskpart failed to clear disk attributes” error.
  • Tap the Win + S keys to open the Search box.

  • After opening Properties, click on the tab Tools and then click on the “Check” button under the Error-checking section.
  • Wait until the process is completed and then restart your computer.

Option 4 – Clear the attributes on RAW

  • Tap the Win + S keys then type “diskpart” in the field.
  • Click the Diskpart application and if a User Account Control dialog box pops up, click Yes to proceed.
  • After opening an elevated Command Prompt, type in the commands listed below and make sure to tap Enter right after you key in one command after the other.
    • list volume
    • select volume ‘n’ (In this command, you have to replace ‘n’ with the volume number of the drive)
    • format fs=fat32 quick (In this command you also have the flexibility to change the format to ‘ntfs’ or ‘exfat’)
  • After executing the commands given, unplug the removable storage device and wait for a couple of seconds and then plug it back in.
  • Now try any normal write operations and see if the error no longer appears.

  • From there, look for any device driver which has a yellow exclamation mark which indicates that something is wrong with them.
  • And then right-click on each one of them and click on Uninstall.
  • Once you’re done uninstalling the faulty drivers, restart your computer and allow your computer to reinstall the drivers you just uninstalled.

Option 3 – Run the Blue Screen Troubleshooter

  3. Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them.
