Access Denied, You don’t have permission

When you try to open a website but instead encounter an “Access Denied, You don’t have permission to access on this server” error message along with the ULR which you aren’t able to access with a reference number, then it is most likely caused by some network-related issue in your browser. Note that this error mostly occurs on Firefox browsers.

The “Access Denied” error appears when your Mozilla Firefox browser uses a different proxy setting or VPN instead of what’s really set on your Windows 10 PC. Thus, when a website detected that there is something wrong with your browser cookies or your network, it blocks you which is why you can’t open it. To resolve this error, here are some suggestions you can try. And if you got the same error message on a different browser, you can still follow the possible solutions given below.

Option 1 – Try clearing everything about the website

  • Open your browser and tap the Ctrl + H keys on your keyboard.
  • After that, look for the listing of the website from your browser history and right-click on it.
  • Then select the “Forget about this site” option. This will get rid of all the data such as browsing history, cache, cookies, and passwords. Thus, if you have a password saved or other important data of the website, you have to save it first before you tap the Ctrl + H keys.

Option 2 – Try disabling the VPN

As pointed out earlier, if you are using VPN, this could be the reason why you’re getting the “Access Denied” error so the most obvious thing to do is for you to turn off the VPN and try to run the Windows Update once more. And if you use a VPN software that works using their software, you can just completely exit or log-off from its account. On the other hand, if you are using a built-in Windows 10 VPN, you can simply turn it off or delete all the settings you have created there.

Option 3 – Uninstall the VPN service you are using or use a different provider

If you disabling the VPN service worked in fixing the “Access Denied” error, you might want to uninstall it. As mentioned, website administrator blocks IP ranges if they notice any malicious activities and because of this, your IP address might fall into the banned range even if you didn’t do anything at all. To uninstall the VPN service, follow the steps below.

  • Tap the Win + R keys to open the Run dialog box
  • Then type “appwiz.cpl” in the field and hit Enter to open the Programs and Features in Control Panel.
  • From there, look for the VPN service you are using, select it and then click on Uninstall to remove it.
  • After that, restart your computer and try to install the latest version of the program again. It should work now. If not, proceed to the next available option below.

Option 4 – Try disabling the proxy server for your LAN

If your PC was just attacked by some adware or malware as of late, it is possible that it has changed the network settings in the system and might display spam advertisements. Thus, you have to disable the proxy server for your LAN. To do that, refer to these steps:

  • Tap the Win + R keys to open the Run dialog box.
  • Then type “inetcpl.cpl” in the field and hit Enter to pull up the Internet Properties.
  • After that, go to the Connections tab and select the LAN settings.
  • From there. Uncheck the “Use a Proxy Server” option for your LAN and then make sure that the “Automatically detect settings” option is checked.
  • Now click the OK and the Apply buttons.
  • Restart your PC.

Note: If you are using a third-party proxy service, you have to disable it.

Run Windows Updates from Command Line
As you know, one of the most highlighted features of Windows 10 is Windows Updates. It was offered to the customers as a service rather than a product with the release of Windows 10 under the scenario of Software as a Service which led to Windows Updates being set by default on Windows 10 and without an option for any users to disable it. Although not all users are happy with what Microsoft did, this is an ultimate step towards the greater good of all its customers since Windows Updates helps users in keeping their computers secured against all kinds of threats as well as provide them with the greatest and latest updates from Microsoft. So if you are one of those users who approved of the Windows Updates service, then read on as this post will guide you in running Windows Updates from Command Line either via Command Prompt or Windows PowerShell. For the complete set of instructions, refer to the options given below.

Option 1 – Run Windows Update via Command Prompt

Command Prompt in the Windows operating system exists for a very long time now compared to the comparatively new Windows PowerShell. That’s why it has similar capabilities to run Windows Updates. However, the highlighting point here is that you don’t have to download any module for Windows Updates. To get started running Windows Updates using Command Prompt, refer to the steps below.
  • First, type “cmd” in the Cortana search box, and from the search results, right-click on Command Prompt and select the Run as Administrator option to open it with Administrator privileges.
  • If a User Account or UAC prompt appears, just click on Yes to proceed.
  • Next, type in the commands listed below, and don’t forget to tap Enter right after you type each one of them.
    • UsoClient StartScan – use this command to start checking for updates.
    • UsoClient StartDownload – use this command to start downloading updates.
    • UsoClient StartInstall – use this command to start installing the downloaded updates.
    • UsoClient RestartDevice – use this command to restart your computer after you install.
    • UsoClient ScanInstallWait – use this command to check, download and install updates.
Note: Keep in mind that the commands in Command Prompt listed above are only meant for Windows 10. On the other hand, if you are using an older Windows version, you can try using the following commands instead:
  • wuauclt /detectnow – use this command to start checking for updates.
  • wuauclt /updatenow – use this command to start installing the updates detected.
  • wuauclt /detectnow /updatenow – use this command to check, download and install updates.

Option 2 – Run Windows Updates via Windows PowerShell

If you run Windows Updates in the Windows PowerShell, it will require you to install the Windows Update module manually. Hence, you have to get the Windows Updates downloaded and install Windows Updates.
  • Search for PowerShell in the Cortana search box and then run it with administrator privileges.
  • Once you’ve opened the Windows PowerShell, type the following command and hit Enter.
    • Install-Module PSWindowsUpdate – use this command to install the Windows Update module for Windows PowerShell.
    • Get-WindowsUpdate – use this command to connect to the servers of Windows Update and download the updates if found.
    • Install-WindowsUpdate – use this command to install the Windows Updates you’ve downloaded to your computer.

MS Edge, autoplay video blocking coming
Microsoft Edge may be about to win a lot of fans by introducing a new feature that it says could prevent one of the most annoying things about being online. A new update to the browser suggests it is looking at a way to block auto-playing videos by default when a user navigates to a website. People spotted a new entry to the Microsoft Edge Canary browser where the company tries out its in-progress updates, that suggests auto-playing videos may have had their day at last. The new addition, for Mac, Windows, and Linux systems, is called “Autoplay Limit Default Setting”, with the description suggesting that Microsoft Edge would set the media autoplay setting to "Limit" as a default - stopping videos from starting up when a user lands on a website. Currently, Edge offers two options for users to control media autoplay - "Allow" (the current default setting), where all videos on a website will play automatically with sound, and "Limit", where media won’t be autoplayed on sites that a user has previously visited. It appears that Microsoft is looking to test the feature in Canary before rolling it out to a wider user base - as blocking autoplaying videos can cause issues for some websites. The same Canary entry also hints at a future "Block" option, which would presumably stop any videos or media from playing when a user lands on a website. However, this feature, which is also listed as being available for Mac, Windows, and Linux systems, doesn't appear to be enabled as yet. Windows 11 was released in beta for all
windows 11 betaMicrosoft has released Windows 11 as a public beta release for all the people that are not willing to be in the insider program. Beta release as of this moment is identical to Insider Preview build 22000.100. and updates will not roll so fast as in insider preview and it is marked as unstable release, same as insider build. I would not install Windows 11 beta on the main PC since some drivers still have issues and may lead to some blue screens. Be aware that the beta build will have all Windows 11 system requirements including TPM 2.0. This is a big difference from insider build which can be installed on systems lacking official requirements. So basically if you have a spare PC that could run Windows 11 install it so you can see what it brings and feel it so you can make a decision will upgrade once it is released later this year.

Fix Windows Update Error 0x800F0922
A lot of users connect to the internet are using VPN on their Windows 10 computers which means that their regions could be different from the actual region of their Windows 10 computers. Thus, if you are facing some issues in updating your computer in this kind of environment, specifically the Windows Update error 0x800F0922, you need to follow the tips given in this guide to help you resolve the issue. When you encounter this kind of Windows Update error, you might see either of the following error messages on your screen:
“Windows could not search for updates, Code 0x800F0922 Windows Update encountered an unknown error” Or: “Windows failed to install the update with error 0x800F0922”
This issue might be caused by two possible reasons such as:
  1. VPN issues
  2. Not enough space on the System Reserved partition
To resolve the problem, here are some tips that might help:

Option 1 – Try disabling the VPN

As mentioned, if you are using VPN, this could be the reason why you’re getting the Windows Update error 0x800F0922 so the most obvious thing to do is for you to turn off the VPN and try to run the Windows Update once more. And if you use a VPN software that works using their software, you can just completely exit or log-off from its account. On the other hand, if you are using a built-in Windows 10 VPN, you can simply turn it off or delete all the settings you have created there. Although it’s understandable that you might have to use a VPN connection to connect to the work network, you really have to disable it at least until the Windows Update is no longer stuck in the error 0x800F0922. It would be best if you do this when you are not working.

Option 2 – Try to free up space in the System Reserved partition

The System Reserved partition is a part of the hard disk created when Windows is first installed on it. It is where the Boot Configuration Database, Boot Manager Code, Windows Recovery Environment, and the reserves space for the startup files are stored. And as mentioned early on, the error might be due to some insufficient space in the System Reserved partition so the next thing you can do is to increase the space in this partition. Note that it is a complex process so you need to make sure that you have made backups to all your data on the computer. So if ever something goes out of hand, at least you have copies of your important files in case you aren’t able to boot into the system at all.

Fix Screen Aspect Ratio issues in Windows
There are times when you upgrade or install Windows 10 on an old computer and the Aspect Ratio of the screen is in a mess. This issue occurs when a new Windows version does not support the GPU or the driver does not work in Windows 10. And in such cases, Windows uses a generic driver which does not support all the resolution as well as the correct aspect ratio. So in this post, you will be guided on how you can fix the issues with the screen aspect ratio in Windows 10. It could be that your screen has an aspect ratio of 16:9 but after the upgrade, you changed to screen resolution, and is now set to 16:!0. And later on, you found that you are unable to go back to the previous aspect ratio. Thus, you will notice that everything on the screen might look stretched. You might be wondering if it’s possible to change the aspect ratio in Windows 10 directly even if the GPU does not have the compatible driver, well it really isn’t. However there is another way to resolve the problem. Refer to the options given below to get started.

Option 1 – Try using the Compatibility Mode

The first thing you can do is to run the driver in a Compatibility Mode. Follow the steps below to do so:
  • You need to download the driver and place it on your desktop.
  • After that, right-click on it and select Properties.
  • Next, switch to the Compatibility tab where you should see two options:
    • Compatibility troubleshooter, and let Windows figure out what works best for you. If it fails, follow the next.
    • Manually choose the version of Windows it was correctly working.
  • You also have the option to change the DPI settings and see if that helps. Then click the Apply and OK buttons.
  • Now right-click on the file and select the “Run as administrator” option to install. After that, you should now be able to change your screen aspect ratio to what you were using early on.
Note: If you have other programs that won’t work on the existing version of Windows, then make sure to run the program in a Compatibility mode.

Option 2 – Try to run the Program Compatibility Troubleshooter

You might also want to run the Program Compatibility Troubleshooter. This built-in troubleshooter is available in the Windows Update & Security section. From there, select Troubleshoot. This will find a list of programs for you and since you have already downloaded the driver files, just click on Not Listed located at the top of the program list. After that, browse and select the driver files and then let the program do its job.

Option 3 – Update or rollback your device drivers

If the first option didn’t work for you, then it’s time to either update or roll back the device drivers. It is most likely that after you updated your Windows computer that your driver also needs a refresh. On the other hand, if you have just updated your device drivers then you need to roll back the drivers to their previous versions. Whichever applies to you, refer to the steps below.
  • Open the Devices Manager from the Win X Menu.
  • Then locate the device drivers and right-click on them to open the Properties.
  • After that, switch to the Driver tab and click on the Uninstall Device button.
  • Follow the screen option to completely uninstall it.
  • Finally, restart your computer. It will just reinstall the device drivers automatically.
Note: You can install a dedicated driver on your computer in case you have it or you could also look for it directly from the website of the manufacturer.

Impacts & consequences Of Ransomware
From the various report, it is now clear that no one is prone to Ransomware attacks. Cyber-criminals never target any specific field of the user workgroup for this Ransomware attack. But in past few years, it has hugely affected home users, businesses, organizations. We can say, Ransomware victims come in all shapes & sizes. Many business owners think that they will never be attacked by Ransomware crooks because their business is not so big. But that’s not true. A huge proportion of Ransomware attacks happened in small sector businesses because of their weak security resistances.

Some leading negative consequences of Ransomware attacks faced by almost every victim are:

  1. Permanent or temporary loss of proprietary or sensitive information.
  2. Lots of trouble in performing regular operations.
  3. Huge financial losses sustain for restoring up your files and systems.
  4. Latent harm to the reputation of an organization.
  5. Even making the Ransom payment doesn’t guarantee the safe releasing of your encrypted files.
  6. Attackers get the victim’s money along with their banking details.
  7. Getting the decrypting files doesn’t mean malware infection has completely been removed.
Ransomware put a tremendous impact on disturbing business operations and in the end, leads to data loss situations.

Here are some huge impacts of Ransomware attacks on business are:

  1. Damage or loss of all the crucial information
  2. In the Ransomware post-attack period Business disrupts a lot.
  3. Destruction of hostage data, file, and system.
  4. Business downtime
  5. Victimized company’s reputation dropdown
  6. Productivity loss
Apart from the ransom, the cost of downtime because of restricted system access will bring major concerns. It’s a fact that due to downtime victims may has to pay a cost of ten thousand dollars daily. As, Ransomware is becoming more and more widespread, so all companies require to brush up on their annual cyber-security goals. Moreover, approach for some appropriate implementations of Ransomware recovery plans and commit sufficient funds in their IT budgets for cyber-security resources. Among the most effective impact of Ransomware, “data encryption” is very hard to deal with. Meanwhile, this victim is completely restricted to access any of their encrypted data. The only way for unlocking these encrypted files is through the decryption key which only belongs to hackers. Many times, the decryption key is given to the organization, after the payment of the ransom. But there are also some cases when data is not handover to the victim, even after the ransom payment. The main risk that generates with “operational impact of Ransomware” is on the businesses. Can you just imagine, what will happen if all of a sudden entire services or processes of your business halt down?

Well, this dreadful Ransomware threat is so impactful that it can:

  1. Close down the entire plant
  2. Freeze manufacturing control system
  3. Make other backlogs
All the damages that occur due to downtime can be a major one and can have so many consequences. A well-organized strategy of backup and recovery will not certainly make the Ransomware attack painless. As this takes an extensive amount of money and time for data restoration.

Apart from that, the decision of recovering your system using the backup moreover depends on three things:

  1. First the amount of data loss that is considered acceptable by your business or organization.
  2. Up to how extent, the impact of Ransomware has spread
